2 Bond University: Bond with Bond Bond University is inviting prospective students and their families to attend Bond with Bond events where they can find out more about studying at Bond and meet other future students. - Brisbane: Thursday 9 th June, 6pm - Marriott Hotel, 515 Queen St, Brisbane - Cairns: Thursday 26 th May, 6:30pm - Hilton Cairns, 34 Esplanade, Cairns - Gold Coast: Wednesday 13 th July, 6pm - Princeton Room, Bond University - Toowoomba: Monday 11 th July, 6pm - Toowoomba Grammar School, 24 Margaret St, East Toowoomba Griffith University: Musical Theatre Audition Workshop Mon 4 th - Fri 8 th July This week-long workshop, run by Griffith University, is for performers in Years 11, 12 and beyond who want to develop auditioning skills in musical theatre. Participant will work with experts in dance, theatre, acting and singing to learn the essentials of the auditioning process. Griffith University: Trimesters Coming Soon The current Academic Calendar is based on two compulsory semesters of study per year. Trimesters will replace the existing semesters and each trimester will include a 12 week teaching period. Trimesters will provide some students with the option to accelerate their studies and complete their degree sooner. The weekly concerts are usually held on a Thursday from 1pm - 2pm (may vary from week to week). The survey showed surprising results with University of Sydney and UNSW both coming in behind Western Sydney University, Charles Sturt and University of Tasmania on student satisfaction. 3 The Open Training Institute is similar to a TAFE, except all the courses offered are only available to study online! The diplomas and certificates are nationally accredited and recognised by Australian employers, registered training organisations and Australian universities. Independent Schools: Art Design Awards and Literary Competition Entries are now open for the Independent Education Union s Art Design and Literary Competition. This competition is open to all independent schools in Queensland & Northern Territory. There are prizes for the best pieces of work in each category. Entries close Friday 22 nd July. Ipswich Poetry Feast Competition This poetry competition has a range of categories for aspiring poets of all ages, with $7,500 worth of prizes divided up between them. Entries close Friday 29 th July. Solo: A Monologue Writing Competition This competition is for established and emerging playwrights. Entrants are invited to submit a work, to be performed by one actor, of 3 10 minutes duration ( words). There is a high school category. Entries close Friday 24 th June. Tips for note-taking Volunteers in Community Engagement Volunteers in Community Engagement (VOICE), offers year olds the opportunity to volunteer in sustainable and positive community development around the world.
