16 Komparasi Metode Penjadwalan Least Connections dan Round Robin dalam Web Server Clustering Dengan Skema Load Balancing Pandu Setyoaji N INTISARI Ketika situs web memiliki kunjungan yang tinggi, mengakibarkan peningkatan permintaan pelayanan pada web server, hingga kinerja web server semakin terbebani. Dengan menggunakan sistem cluster dimana pengunjung dan permintaan diarahkan secara dinamis kepada server yang sesuai menurut tipe trafik, lokasi, beban server, bandwidth jaringan yang tersedia dan pengukuran sistem yang lain, sehingga memberikan peningkatan pada kinerja layanan web server. Salah satu skema untuk meningkatkan kinerja pada layanan web server dengan sistem cluster adalah dengan menggunakan load balancing. Dalam skema load balancing pada web server clustering memiliki beberapa metode penjadwalan. Antara lain metode penjadwalan round robin dan least-connection. Penelitian ini merupakan komparasi antara metode penjadwalan round-robin dan least connection. Dimana bertujuan untuk mendapatkan nilai dari parameter time response, throughput, request lost, dan request rate agar dapat membandingkan kinerja dari kedua metode penjadwalan. Penelitian ini menggunakan 7 buah skenario dimana tiap-tiap skenario memiliki 3 kali pengujian. Berdasarkan penelitian ini, parameter time response dan request rate untuk metode penjadwalan least connection lebih unggul pada koneksi yang relatif rendah, yakni koneksi kurang dari atau sama dengan 8 koneksi/detik. Sedangkan untuk koneksi diatas 8 koneksi/detik, metode penjadwalan round robin lebih unggul. Parameter throughput untuk metode penjadwalan round-robin lebih unggul pada koneksi yang relatif tinggi, yakni koneksi lebih dari atau sama dengan 1 koneksi/detik. Sedangkan untuk koneksi dibawah 1 koneksi/detik, metode penjadwalan least connection lebih unggul. Metode penjadwalan round robin dan least connection tidak memiliki masalah dalam kehilangan koneksi atau request lost pada koneksi/detik hingga 1 koneksi/detik. Sedangkan rata-rata request lost tertinggi untuk metode penjadwalan round robin menghasilkan nilai 35, conn. Sedangkan metode penjadwalan least connection menghasilkan nilai 3, conn. xvi
17 Comparation between Least Connection Scheduling Method and Round Robin Scheduling Method on Web Server Clustering Using Load Balancing Scheme Pandu Setyoaji N ABSTRACT When a website has a high visit, it will causes to the increasing of service demand to web server which means that the web server performance is getting burdened. By using the cluster system where visitor and demand are dinamically guided to the server which is appropriate to the traffic type, location, server burden, availability of signal bandwidth, and other system measurement, it will give the increasing of web server service performance. One of the scheme that is used to increase performance of web server service using cluster system is load balancing. There are several scheduling methods in load balancing scheme in web server clustering, such as round robin scheduling method and least-connection scheduling method This study was a comparison between the round-robin scheduling method and the least connection scheduling method, which aimed to get the value of the response time parameter, throughput, requests lost, and request rate in order to compare the performance of both scheduling methods. This study uses 7 pieces scenarios where each scenario has 3 times the test. Based on this study, the time response parameter and request rate for the least connection scheduling method was superior in the low relative connections, the connection was less than or equal to 8 connections/ second. While for the connection that more than 8 connections/ second, round robin scheduling method was superior. Throughput parameter for round-robin scheduling method was superior in the high relative connections, the connection was more than or equal to 1 connections /second. While for the connection that under of 1 connections /second, the least connection scheduling method was superior. Round robin scheduling method and the least connection did not had a problem in losing connection or request lost on connections /second up to 1 connections /second. The average of highest request lost for round robin scheduling method produced a value conn, and for the least connection scheduling method produced a value conn. xvii
18 BAB I PENDAHULUAN 1.1. Latar Belakang Ketika situs web memiliki kunjungan yang tinggi, mengakibarkan peningkatan permintaan pelayanan pada web server, hingga kinerja web server semakin terbebani. Tingginya jumlah kunjungan yang melebihi kapasitas server menyebabkan terjadinya overload kerja pada server dan membuat layanan yang diberikan oleh web server tersebut terganggu ataupun terhenti. Dengan menggunakan web server dengan sistem cluster atau web server clustering, pengunjung dan permintaan diarahkan secara dinamis kepada server yang sesuai menurut tipe trafik, lokasi, beban server, bandwidth jaringan yang tersedia dan pengukuran sistem yang lain, sehingga memberikan peningkatan pada kinerja layanan web server (Kurniawan, 214). Salah satu cara untuk meningkatkan kinerja pada layanan web server clustering dengan menggunakan skema load balancing. Load balancing dapat mencegah terjadinya overload melalui penggunaan beberapa server dengan membagi beban (Abdulah, 213). Metode penjadwalan yang terdapat pada skema load balancing antara lain round robin dan least connection. Metode penjadwalan round robin merupakan metode yang paling sederhana dan banyak digunakan oleh perangkat load balancing. Metode ini 1
19 2 membagi beban secara bergiliran dan berurutan dari satu server ke server lain sehingga membentuk putaran (Budi, 212). Akan tetapi, metode penjadwalan round robin akan bekerja tanpa mempertimbangkan kapasitas atau spesifikasi dari masing masing node server (Baskoro, 212). Sedangkan untuk metode penjadwalan least connection bekerja dengan menyalurkan koneksi jaringan kepada server yang memiliki koneksi aktif paling sedikit. Pada tiap server yang memiliki kemampuan pemrosesan yang sama, metode penjadwalan least connection akan mendistribusikan beban permintaan dengan baik karena permintaan yang panjang tidak akan disalurkan kepada sebuah server (Kurniawan, 214). least connection akan bekerja lebih baik dibandingkan round robin pada beban rendah sampai menengah akan tetapi ketika beban mulai meningkat kinerja dari dua metode ini setara ( Teo, 21). Metode penjadwalan tersebut tentunya memiliki karakteristik serta penerapan yang berbeda dalam penelitian ini. Oleh karena itu, kedua jenis metode penjadwalan tersebut akan diuji secara komprehensif untuk mendapatkan tingkat optimalisasi yang paling dinamis dan lebih menguntungkan secara kinerja maupun secara ekonomis dalam kelancaran beberapa distribusi ketika beban permintaan bervariasi banyak, karena semua permintaan tidak mungkin diarahkan hanya dengan ke server tunggal. Penelitian ini akan melakukan komparasi metode penjadwalan round robin dan least connection pada web server clustering dengan skema loadbalancing. Oleh karena itu perlu dikaji aspek-aspek performansi jaringan ketika
20 3 kedua metode ini dijalankan, sehingga dapat dihasilkan sebuah rekomendasi untuk membangun sebuah server sesuai dengan keadaan yang diinginkan. 1.2 Rumusan Masalah Berdasarkan latar belakang masalah di atas, maka rumusan masalah dalam penelitian yang diangkat pada penelitiaan ini adalah. Bagaimana komparasi metode penjadwalan least-connections dan round-robin dalam web clustering dengan skema load balancing berjalan untuk mengatasi overload dikupas disini. 1.3 Batasan Masalah Dalam penyusunan tugas akhir ini, penyusun perlu untuk membatasi masalah yang akan dibahas di sini. Adapun batasan masalahnya adalah sebagai berikut : 1. Penelitian menggunakan sistem operasi linux dengan alasan free, opensource, dan memiliki utilitas yang banyak sehingga memudahkan pengimplementasian serta penggunaan web server. 2. Penelitian dilakukan di laboratorium jaringan UIN-Sunan Kalijaga. 3. Balancer atau penyeimbang pada sisi front server menggunakan Nginx. 4. Melakukan komparasi metode penjadwalan round-robin dan least connection. Keamanan tidak dibahas dalam penelitian ini. 5. Parameter perbandingan yang diukur adalah time response, throughput, request lost, dan request rate. 6. Metode penjadwalan round-robin dan least-connections menggunakan konfigurasi dari Nginx
21 4 1.4 Tujuan Penelitian berikut: Adapun tujuan dari penelitian dalam penulisan skripsi ini adalah sebagai 1. Mengetahui kinerja load balancing menggunakan metode leastconnections dan round-robin dalam web server clustering. 2. Melakukan komparasi antara metode least-connections dan round-robin dalam web server clustering dengan skema load balancing berdasarkan parameter time response, throughput, request lost, dan request rate. 1.5 Manfaat Penelitian Manfaat dari penelitian Komparasi Metode Penjadwalan Least Connections dan Round Robin dalam Web Server Clustering Dengan Skema Load Balancing adalah sebagai berikut : 1. Mendapatkan metode penjadwalan yang optimal pada web server clustering dengan sistem load balancing berdasarkan parameter yang telah ditentukan 2. Dapat Menerapkan sistem load-balancing yang mengarahkan trafik ke server lain sehingga down-time dari web-server dapat diminimalisir Dengan menggunakan tehnik load-balancing pada web-server dapat memanage server secara bersamaan.
22 5 1.6 Keaslian Penelitian Penelitan tentang komparasi metode penjadwalan least-connectios dan round-robin beberapa pernah di lakukan, akan tetapi di dalam kampus Teknik Informatika UIN Sunan Kalijaga belum pernah ada penelitian tentang komparasi metode penjadwalan dalam web server clustering menggunakan skema load balancing.
23 BAB V KESIMPULAN DAN SARAN 5.1 Kesimpulan Berdasarkan hasil pengujian yang telah dilakukan, maka dapat diambil kesimpulan sebagai berikut: 1) Kinerja load balancing menggunakan metode penjadwalan round robin dan metode penjadwalan least connections berjalan baik. 2) Metode penjadwalan least connection lebih baik digunakan pada 2 koneksi/detik hingga 8 koneksi/detik, untuk parameter time response. Sedangkan untuk koneksi diatas 8 koneksi/detik, metode penjadwalan round-robin lebih unggul. 3) Parameter throughput untuk metode penjadwalan round-robin lebih unggul pada koneksi yang relatif tinggi, yakni koneksi lebih dari atau sama dengan 1 koneksi/detik. Sedangkan untuk koneksi dibawah 1 koneksi/detik, metode penjadwalan least connection lebih unggul. 4) Metode penjadwalan round robin dan least connection tidak memiliki masalah dalam kehilangan koneksi atau request lost pada koneksi/detik hingga 1 koneksi/detik. Sedangkan rata-rata request lost tertinggi untuk metode penjadwalan round robin terletak pada skenario 7 dengan nilai 35, conn. Sedangkan metode penjadwalan least connection terletak pada skenario 7, dengan nilai 3, conn. 176
24 177 5) Parameter request rate untuk metode penjadwalan least connection lebih unggul pada koneksi yang relatif rendah, yakni koneksi kurang dari atau sama dengan 8 koneksi/detik. Sedangkan untuk koneksi diatas 8 koneksi/detik, metode penjadwalan round robin lebih unggul. 5.2 Saran Berdasarkan penelitian yang telah dilakukan, masih membutuhkan saran-saran untuk mendukung kesempurnaan dalam penelitian ini, saran tersebut diantaranya sebagai berikut : 1) Penelitian kedepan pada tahap pengujian digunakan perangkat lunak pengujian yang lain. 2) Menggunakan metode penjadwalan yang berbeda untuk melakukan komparasi algoritma penjadwalan pada load balancing. 3) Penelitian kedepan diharapkan menggunakan node server lebih banyak untuk mendukung kinerja load balancing agar algoritma penjadwalan lebih optimal
