2 Statement of Need Women and minorities continue to account for a higher proportion of HIV/AIDS incidence and mortality. Efforts are needed to improve prompt access to advances in HIV therapeutics for women and minorities, to address disparities in HIV care, and to improve treatment adherence and treatment strategies in this patient population. Propose future strategies that will more clearly assist investigators in HIV/AIDS prevention with diverse populations. Reducing HIV Risk in African American Adolescents and Young Women Gina Wingood, ScD, MPH Describe CDC defined evidence based HIV prevention interventions for adolescent females. Discuss culturally and gender tailored HIV prevention interventions for adolescent females. Identify core elements required for evidence based HIV prevention interventions for adolescent females.

4 Learning Objectives From HIV Treatment to HIV Prevention: Lessons Learned from Research and Practice Among Incarcerated African American Women Becky White, MD Describe the HIV epidemiology of women in corrections Summarize the elements critical to the improvement in HIV care in corrections Apply these elements to create a multi level prevention intervention Intersecting Issues of Substance Abuse, Risk and HIV for Women of Color Wendee Wechsberg, PhD Describe how contextual, environmental and relational factors intersect with why women use drugs. List the risks associated with HIV for substance abusing women.

Reid, PhD, RNC, WHNP BC Discuss two considerations women living with HIV may explore when deciding to disclose their HIV + status. Identify three different perceptions of HIV stigma as experienced by women living with HIV throughout the life span.
