2 1. Bird Feeder Type 1 Herfst Bird Feeder - melkpak Type 2 Owl birdfeeder - melkpak

3 Instructions Type 1 (melkpak) This activity is appropriate for: kindergarten & up / 5 years & up Materials: * Empty milk carton * Superbright Liquid Tempera Paint - 1 Pint / water resistent paint) (Yellow, Orange, Red, and Brown Paint) * Scissors * Dish soap * Paintbrush * Wooden dowel or tree branch * Fancy Pipe Stems - Class Set / garden rope * Birdseed Directions 1. Rinse the milk carton with water. Set aside to dry. 2. Have an adult help you cut out windows on each side of the carton. 3. Mix your paints with a small amount of dish soap to keep them from peeling. Now, use the paint to decorate the carton. Set aside to dry. 4. Poke small holes through two opposite sides of the base. 5. Insert a dowel or branch into each hole to serve as a perch. 6. Punch a hole in the top of the milk carton. Thread a pipe stem / garden rope through the hole to use as a hanger. 7. Fill the bottom of the carton with birdseed. Hang your feeder on a tree and watch the birds enjoy!

4 Instructions Type 2 Juice Carton Owl Bird Feeder Materials: * a juice / milk carton * enamel paints for the garden * stanly knife * plastic bottle lids * googly eyes * craft stick/ lolly stick/ stick * hot glue gun or good PVA glue Juice Carton Owl Bird Feeder Steps: 1) We started off by painting the juice carton. We found we needed to coats to make the colour nice and even. We used enamel paints (for flower pots etc), as these are waterproof. Acrylics are water based and won t last as long. Though you could use acyrlics and then add a coat of waterproof varnish. 2) Once dry, using your stanly knife, cut out a tummy and wings into the bottom half of your juice or milk carton. I used the the tummy, to then cut a beak shape. As to the wings, don t cut them all out, you want to keep the flaps attached. This keeps the seeds a little bit more sheltered and gives you those lovely owl wings! 3) Finally, take your juice carton and glue on your bottle top eyes. And done. I later punched a little hole and hung the bird feeder outside. Hang and enjoy.

6 Instructions 2 cups plain flour 1 cup salt 1 tbs oil ½ - 1 cup cold water 2 drops liquid food colouring Method STEP 1 Combine plain flour and salt STEP 2 Add water, food colouring and oil. Mix until ingredients are combined. STEP 3 Knead well. STEP 4 If consistency is too wet add a little plain flour.

9 4. Selfmade glue and paper / leaves craft

10 Instructions Materials 1 cup flour 1.5 cups water 1/3 cup sugar 1 tsp vinegar paper / leaves crafts Coloured + white A4s Dried leaves Colour pens * In a saucepan mix 1 cup of flour with 1/3 cup of sugar. * Add half of the water required and mix into a thick paste without clumps. * Pour in the rest of the water and combine till the paste is smooth. * Pour a teaspoon of vinegar and put on medium heat until the mixture starts to thicken. * Cool and transfer to jar or an airtight plastic container. This glue will keep for a few days. Refrigerate to prolong the shelf life (the jar in my fridge is 6 months old). Vinegar in this glue recipe acts as a mild natural preservative. You might use grapefruit seed extract or tee tree oil (5-10 drops) instead of vinegar to naturally preserve the glue. Stick with vinegar though if you have small kids not only is this glue non toxic, but perfectly edible too! This glue needs more time to dry, but when dried, the bond is really strong. Use this glue for card making and add a few drops of anise or cinnamon essential oil to give the cards a nice scent. If adding dark essential oils or ground cinnamon, bear in mind that the glue will have a slightly brownish colour unlike plain one that becomes almost transparent when dry.

12 Instructions You will need: milk or juice carton round stick, cocktail straw or pencil piece of cardboard piece of wire craft knife scissors thick thread glue plastic toothpaste or bottle cap Milk carton and other materials 1. Cut away two walls of the carton, so that you have a square basin, a roof over it, and two poles one opposite the other to support the roof (see the photo). The roof supports must be wide enough to hold a spindle. 2. Make two holes, one opposite the other, in the roof supports to accommodate the spindle. 3. If you're making the spindle from a stick or pencil, cut out an oval piece of cardboard, it will take the handle. Glue that piece to the spindle so that together they form the letter "L", then attach the handle to the other side. If the cardboard is thick enough, make openings in it to insert the pencil. 4. If you're using a cocktail straw to make the spindle, just bend it so that it's Z-shaped, with one horizontal section long enough to be put between the roof supports. The other two sections of "Z" will make the handle. 5. Insert the spindle into the openings in the roof supports. 6. Cut out a cardboard washer and glue it to the other end of the spindle. This will secure the spindle in place. 7. Make a bucket from a bottle cap, attach to it a wire handle. 8. Tie the bucket to a piece of thread and fix the other end of the thread around the spindle. 9. Stick some play dough to the bucket's bottom to make it sink. Now you can pour water into the well and draw it out with the toy bucket :)

15 7. Cork Craft

16 Sailboat in a jar Materials Con-struc-tion paper Tooth-picks Corks Thread Glass jar (can also be done at home if give each child a photo) Stones (assembled at home) Steps Align three corks for the base of the boat. Cut a piece of thread and wind it around the corks hor-i-zontally. Tie a knot. Cut another piece of thread and wind it around the corks verti-cally. Tie a knot. Cut another piece of cork for the swimmer. Break a tooth-pick in half and stick it into the cork. Cut a small tri-an-gle out of con-struc-tion paper, punch two holes, and slide it over the toothpick. The swim-mer is finished! Cut a larger tri-an-gle to use for the sail. Punch two holes in the middle. Slide a tooth-pick through the holes. Stick the tooth-pick in the cen-ter cork of the boat. Attach the lit-tle swim-mer to the sail-boat with some thread and pieces of toothpick.

19 Instructions (use a combination of the two articles above) This article uses a printed paper, but we can use real leaves stuck on paper I think Materials Thin see through A4 paper Dried flattened small autumn leaves Glue Glass jar Pretty saucer for under lamp (optional kids can do this at home) A few acorns, kastanjes from outdoors A piece of raffia ribbon / jute natural garden rope Candle (battery or wax) Instructions Check if the paper fits around the jar (keep some overlap space) Stick leaves on the jar (overlap a bit) Let it dry for a few minutes Stick the A4 paper on top of the leave to protect them Wrap some jute rope around the paper and optionally on top of the jar Put a candle inside Place on a pretty saucer with acorns and other beautiful autumn things around it.
