1 St Athan Cardiff Airport Enterprise Zone
2 What are Enterprise Zones? Enterprise Zones are seven areas in Wales where on-going investment is creating the very best conditions for businesses to operate and thrive. St Athan Cardiff Airport Enterprise Zone is located in South East Wales, a region that has been a centre of aeronautical excellence for decades. The zone is focused on the aerospace and defence sector and offers your business an excellent package of support. St Athan is a modern airfield that is less than 3 miles from Cardiff Airport, with state-ofthe-art workshop and hangar facilities ideal for Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO), as well as freight and paint shops, and ready access to a highly skilled workforce. The airfield has been a centre for aerospace for more than half a century and is also a major base for the Ministry of Defence (MOD). Cardiff Airport is an international airport serving passenger, freight and MRO requirements worldwide, and is less than 30 minutes from the centre of Cardiff.

16 A base for aerospace activity for more than half a century Look who s already here We are great advocates of South Wales. Cardiff really offered the best all round combination of features, which is why we chose to locate here in preference to other locations we examined. The Welsh Government and local council offered us tremendous collective assistance. The most important factors behind our decision to come to Wales were lower operating costs, good logistics, the quality of training available and the highly skilled workforce right on our doorstep. Tim Wood Manager of Safety & Business Improvement, British Airways Maintenance Cardiff (BAMC) 14 Mark Richards
