EVOKE GEL SYSTEM by Odyssey Base Gel: Even our products are formulated to adhere to the natural nail as well as to existing enhancement. Bonder will increase the adhesion to the nail plate for all of our products. Bonder should be used sparingly! The nail should look moist and a little glossy! All Purpose Crystal It is our strongest gel! All Purpose Crystal is self-leveling, crystal clear, hard, flexible and strong. All Purpose Crystal can be used on any client with any type of nail. All Purpose Crystal is also a great product to be used with clients who have allergies. Please call us and we can help you determine if the All Purpose Crystal can be used on a sensitive client. Uses: Fills and full sets Builder: Transparent Pink Builder is a phenomenal product and has been touted as a nail material that out performs any acrylic! It is great for doing Full-sets, fills or repairs. Put it in place and it will hold! Builder is not self-leveling and should be applied sparingly. There is little heat generated with the Builder! It is a great product to get an acrylic user to start using gels! Builder adheres to the natural nail and will need to be filed and buffed to shape. Finisher or 1- Step need to be applied over the Builder for a shine. Recommended uses for the Builder: Full-sets and fills Converting acrylic nail technicians to gels Sculpting or forming a nail Ski-jump and thin nails French Tip French Tip is a nice, attractive, white gel for creating awesome looking tips. French Tip is not self-leveling and can be formed into a tip, put on a glue-on tip, or over existing product such as Builder, acrylic or fiberglass. Recommended uses for French Tip are: French manicures Sculpting or forming a tip White Art Great for doing a French manicure fill! White Art is a very bright white with a sharp white look! This is an easy product to work with. White Art is self-leveling, won t yellow and makes doing a French Manicure on a fill a bit easier than using the French Tip. It is not designed to sculpt with on a form, but it can be applied over

tips, or existing product. White Art should be applied as thick as a sheet of paper. Recommended uses: French Manicure over tips, natural nail, or over other products such as Extreme, Builder, acrylic or other enhancements DO NOT USE White Art TO FORM A TIP ON THE NAIL, apply over free-edge that was formed with a clear gel such as Extreme Gel. Hints & Trouble Shooting: Applying the White Art too thick can lead to lifting problems at the free-edge or sidewall because of insufficient curing. This is best avoided by starting out applying thin amounts to the nail, and as you become accustomed to the White Art, applying thicker amounts that are more desirable. Top GEL Top Gel is an UV cured material coat that produces a very high shine. It must be put on a buffed, cleansed nail. The shine can last up to four weeks without yellowing! Uses: Apply Top Gel coat over gels for a high shine Apply Top Gel coat over acrylics or fiberglass wraps Natural nail manicure Hints & Trouble Shooting: If there are dull streaks in the Top Gel it was not cured long enough in your lamp. Buff the surface of the nail, cleanse and re-apply the Top Gel. Consider that it may be time to change your bulbs. Top Gel can be applied to acrylic nails, but it must be mentioned that the use of Cleanser on the acrylic after filing or buffing the surface of the acrylic will lead to adhesion failure. Cleanse the acrylic prior to buffing the surface, buff and then dust the nail with a clean DRY cleansing pad. Apply Top Gel to the nail and cure. EVOKE Color Arts The Evoke Color Arts are spectacular colored gel that can be used to replace polish and has no dry time! Evoke Color Arts can be used to create wonderful nail art! Apply the Evoke Color Arts gel in two thin coats before the Finisher to get the desired coverage. There is no wearing of the free-edge of the nail and the color will not chip or crack! Can be applied over sticky residue or etched, dusted and cleansed surface. Evoke Color Arts adhere to any enhancement as well as natural nails. Great for pedicures! Application: Curing Light Curing lights are the most crucial aspect of using gels. The proper lamp AND bulb is the most critical aspect that will make the gel work or fail. We strongly recommend the use of 9-watt bulbs manufactured by SLI, Phillips or Sylvania UK only! Anything other than these manufacturers will cause failure and dissatisfaction with the product. The results of the wrong bulb being used are lifting, soft product, lack of shine and luster and allergies. The bulb must be used in a good quality lamp. The quality of the lamp has a great effect on the longevity of the bulb, cure strength and satisfaction of the performance of the gel product. Cure times for all of the products should be 2 minutes and no less than 90 seconds with good quality bulbs. Bulbs should be changed every 6-12 months. It is past the time to change bulbs when: 1. The All Purpose Crystal, finishing Gel or Top Gel does not cure to a high shine. 2. The product is lifting or is soft. 3. There is a grey band at the base of the bulb (remove bulb from lamp to examine). It is much better to change the bulbs before they MUST be changed. If the above circumstances are seen, then the repairs on the poorly cured nails will be time consuming and extensive.

Cleansing of the Nail- Gel Cleanser A good quality cleansing agent is very important for good adhesion. Do not use anything that contains: Fragrance Dye or color Water The use of isopropyl alcohol, acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, isobutyl ketone, ethyl acetate, methyl acetate, butyl acetate is strongly recommended. The most cost effective cleansing agents to use are isopropyl alcohol and acetone. Be sure to use the highest grade of solvent available. Do not use recycled solvents because they may contain oils used in paints. Nail Preparation Nail preparation is the cornerstone for the rest of the enhancement. Without good nail preparation, the enhancement will fail. We recommend a very specific nail preparation procedure that will increase your success tremendously and if you follow this procedure, you will become successful at UV cured nails in much less time than if you do not follow these directions. Keep in mind that your client has been touching things throughout the day prior to her arrival at your salon. She may have oils on her hands from lunch, lotion, or from her body. These oils can be removed from her fingers by the use of soap and water, but this leaves soap residue. We recommend that you cleanse her nails with a clean cleansing pad and Evoke Gel Cleanser completely before you begin to file on her nails. Throw this cleansing pad away; if you re-use it you will contaminate her nails with the residue you removed originally. 1) Push back the cuticle and remove eponychium 2) Cleanse the nail thoroughly with Evoke Gel Cleanser and a Wipe. 3) Remove the shine from the nail then etch the surface of the nail with a new 150 grit file. 4) Cleanse the nail thoroughly with Gel Cleanser. 5) Inspect each nail for a uniform white appearance. The nail should have a white powder-like appearance. If the nail looks powdery, then you have done a great nail preparation job! Forming of Tips The use of a form to create a tip is a difficult method to create an extension, but the result is worth the effort. The first step in using a form is most crucial. The form must fit tightly between the nail and the tip of the finger. Often the form needs to be cut in the back to allow the opening or closing of the form around the knuckle. This allows the form to be adjusted so that it continues with the slope of the nail as to create a proper extension. The use of a stick is common to help adjust the placement of the form to ensure its proper fit between the finger tip and the nail. Once the form is in place, apply the French Tip or Natural Tip to the nail by rolling the product from the brush onto the free-edge of the nail and the form. Gently push the product around the smile line and pull it over the nail and form so that the block of the form can be seen through the product. The black blocks should appear as a very light gray. If you can not see the blocks, then the product will not cure completely and this can cause lifting. Once the form is removed, the product will appear as the white or the natural color you desire. Nail Finishing When finishing the nail, be sure to shape an arch and curve into the nail. It is critical that the sidewalls of the nail are not filed too thin because this can lead to cracking in the stress area and lifting at the sidewalls. Gels file much easier and faster than acrylics so the nail technician must be careful not to file away the gel or file the gel so thin that it leads to cracking. Please use caution when filing the gels. Do not feel the nail with your finger while filing. This will deposit oils onto the surface of the nail and will lead to lifting and a blotchy appearance.

Suggested Full-Set Methods Full-Set with Tips Prepare the nail apply the tip to the nail and etch the tip with your file (do not cleanse the tip this will remove the etching of the tip and cause lifting) Apply Builder gels or Crystal Gel (for arch and curve) Reapply Crystal Gel (for thickness and strength), Cleanse, shape, Cleanse, Cleanse (Do Not Cleanse the Top Gel) Full-Set Sculpting with Forms Prepare the nail (see Nail Preparation ) Apply the form Apply Builder gels or Crystal Gel (for arch and curve) Reapply Crystal Gel (for thickness and strength), Cleanse, shape, Cleanse, Cleanse (Do Not Cleanse the Top Gel) Suggested Fill Methods Natural Look Prepare the nail (see Nail Preparation ) Builder gels or Crystal Gel (for thickness and strength), Cleanse (Do Not Cleanse the Top Gel) French Manicure Prepare the nail (see Nail Preparation ) Apply White Art (for a white tip) Apply All Purpose Crystal (for thickness and strength), Cleanse, shape, Cleanse, Cleanse (Do Not Cleanse the Top Gel)

Trouble Shooting, Handling & Storage Trouble Shooting Guide Lifting in cuticle area Cleanse the nail prior to filing in the preparation phase. Do not touch the skin or cuticle with the product Make sure all of the shine is removed when preparing the nail Cleanse the nail with Evoke Gel Cleanser prior to preparing the nail Cleanse the nail with Evoke Gel Cleanser after preparing the nail Look closely at the nail before beginning to apply the product to make certain that the nail looks white and chalky Apply an extremely thin amount of Bonder to the nail Replace your bulbs Lifting at the free-edge Cleanse the nail prior to filing in the preparation phase. Cap the free-edge on every coat of product If using a white product, apply a thinner coat of French Tip, Natural Tip or Ultra-White Replace your bulbs Apply an extremely thin amount of Bonder to the nail Make sure all of the shine is removed when preparing the nail Be sure to etch the edge of the free-edge of the nail Cleanse the nail with Evoke Gel Cleanser prior to preparing the nail Cleanse the nail with Evoke Gel Cleanser after preparing the nail Look closely at the nail before beginning to apply the product to make certain that the nail looks white and Chalky "Burning" or Heat Sensation Reduce the amount of material placed on the nail Insert the hand into the light for 3 seconds and out for 3 seconds. Repeat this two more times Cracking Make the application thicker in the stress area Shape the nail so that there is a smooth and continual curve from the stress area to the cuticle, free-edge and sidewalls Use Fiber Make sure that the side-wall of the nail is prepared properly with the file Round shapes are much stronger than flat shapes Make sure you are using a Evoke approved lamp and good bulbs. Be sure to cover all of sidewalls with product. Soft Product Use a Evoke approved lamp Change bulbs immediately Cure product twice the recommended period of time

White Circle in Stress Area Use a Evoke approved lamp Change bulbs immediately Apply thinner coats of product Cure product twice the recommended period of time Handling and Storage Skin Contact: Try to avoid or reduce contact with the skin. This is quite important because some people can develop allergies to any chemical, Evoke included. When you cleanse the nail, cleanse only the nail and pull the product off the tip of the nail rather than cleanse in a swirling or stroking motion. Storage: Avoid exposure to UV light including but not limited to sunlight, UV light from the lamp, some compact fluorescent bulbs, inert gases and flame. Containers Only use opaque containers or amber glass bottles. Do not use containers made of styrene or polyethylene. Use of containers that are clear or blue tinted glass will result in curing of the gel within the container.
