It was supported by over 60 employers, resulting in internship opportunities for the very best candidates. All regional and the final competitions were widely reported in key Chinese media and a 30-minute feature on employability was also broadcast by the national TV channel, China Education TV-1. ACCA attended Shell L&D roadshows during January 2012 in the UK, India, Malaysia and Poland, providing information and guidance to around 370 finance employees interested in commencing professional studies. ACCA s third CFO European summit in Warsaw examined the pressing challenges facing top finance managers: leading and driving value; the CFO s role in value based management; shefo; and building financial management capacity. The event brought together CFO s from all over Europe, representing high-profile companies such as Coca Cola, Ikea, Thomson Reuters, Barclaycard, Avon and Save the Children International.

16 The ACCA Qualification covers everything that a professional accountant needs to know. It is a complete syllabus and no important areas of knowledge or skill are left out. CFOs of the future will need to have a thorough grounding across the entire spectrum of financial management, from budgeting to performance management, compliance and assurance. This view has been validated by new and existing ACCA research on the corporate sector, including through the work we have done in the Accountants for Business global forum ACCA members have full public accounting rights in key markets including the United Kingdom, Ireland, and the European Union.

18 These are the ten key competencies. We believe all of these areas make up the complete finance professional. ACCA provides a balanced qualification with excellent coverage of the core skills of accounting, business and finance. Students will receive a first class grounding in the major business and accounting areas before being given the opportunity to specialize at the final stage of their studies flexibility that provides a platform for increased mobility. Finance professionals, in whichever sector they operate, must have some level of competence in each of the nine domains in this chart. The core elements of the ACCA Qualification ensure that every student has exposure to all of these areas.

22 ACCA Research and Insights programme is there to demonstrate to the outside world that ACCA deeply understands its business, the needs of its customers, and the broader marketplace in which its members operate. ACCA provides influential policy recommendations, business solutions and analysis that adds value for stakeholders. The Research and Insights programme s work is divided into 6 themes. They are: Risk & Reward Finance Transformation Audit & Society Corporate Reporting Access to Finance Environmental Accountability The majority of our outputs fall into our Accountants for Business programme. Across the 6 themes our work is directly focused on the needs of businesses of all shapes and sizes around the world. We explore the issues affecting the corporate sector, and the role of accountants in delivering value and ensuring a high performing finance function.
