1 JULY 2008 Disabled Persons Parking Schemes in Australia

2 To assist overseas and interstate visitors with current disability parking permits, this brochure outlines the various parking schemes offered by the States and Territories of Australia. Overseas visitors: Bring your overseas permit with you. Overseas permits may be used in Queensland, Australian Capital Territory, Tasmania, Western Australia, the Northern Territory, and New South Wales, subject to local regulations being followed in each jurisdiction. In South Australia, a temporary permit for a holder of an overseas disability parking permit is issued upon presentation of the overseas badge/permit/ certificate to a customer service centre. In Victoria, a temporary permit for a holder of an overseas disability parking permit may be arranged before arrival through VicRoads. Apply at least one month prior to arrival by facsimile or by post, enclosing a copy of your overseas parking permit together with the dates of arrival in, and departure from Australia, and your address when first arriving in Victoria. A temporary permit issued in Victoria or South Australia will be recognised throughout Australia, subject to local regulations being followed in each jurisdiction. Interstate visitors: A permit issued in one State or Territory may be used in all States, subject to local regulations being followed in each jurisdiction. Note: Make sure your permit will not expire when travelling. Display your permit on the windscreen. Your permit for people with disabilities is not valid for parking in Loading Zones, Bus Zones, No Stopping Zones, Clearways and the like. Permits isssued in Victoria may be used in all States and Territories, subject to local regulations being followed in each jurisdiction.
