1 NE-10 Conference Sport Code Manual Men's Basketball [Basketball is an official sport of the Conference and all members who sponsor a team are to participate in the regular season and conference championship unless excused by official conference action.] Section 1. Awards The following awards shall be presented in Men's Basketball: 1. Regular Season Champion 2. Conference Tournament Champion 3. Tournament Runner-Up 4. Tournament MVP 5. All-Conference Team members a. Five awards for First Team b. Five awards for Second Team c. Five awards for Third Team d. Five awards for All-Rookie Team 6. Freshman of the Year 7. Coach of the Year 8. Player of the Year 9. Defensive Player of the Year 10. Player of the Week (chosen from SID nominations) 11. Freshman of the Week (chosen from SID nominations) 12. Weekly Honor Roll (chosen from SID nominations) 13. All-Academic Team (nominated and selected by conference SID s) 14. Team Sportsmanship Award A conference championship premium shall be presented to each finalist team member. Quantity will be based upon the recognized NCAA official traveling party size contained in the NCAA Travel Handbook. Section 2. Awards Selection A. All-Conference Teams and Conference Honors shall be selected by a vote of the coaches and shall be announced prior to the start of the conference tournament semifinals. The Conference shall distribute and tabulate all ballots. B. Five student-athletes will comprise the first, second and third All-Conference Teams and All-Rookie Team.

2 C. The tournament MVP award will be presented at the conclusion of the championship game. Selection will be made by the head coach of the winning team. D. Coaches may nominate but shall not vote for themselves or their players, in the award selection process. Any violation will result in that particular vote being cancelled. Section 3 Ball A. Institutions shall use the official basketball of the Northeast-10 Conference, Spalding TF1000 ZK Pro, for all regular season games. B. The home team shall provide the game balls. Section 4. Coaches Meetings A. One coaches' meeting will be conducted on Thursday, May 1, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the conference office. All head coaches are expected to attend the meeting. Section 5. Conference Schedule A. The conference schedule will consist of a fifteen (15) team schedule. Schedule parameters consist of a double round robin with eight (8) schools and single games with six (6). B. An institution's men's and women's teams will both be home or away on the same date throughout the conference season unless approved by both directors and the conference office. C. Teams may compete in doubleheaders, with the order in which games are played determined by each institution. D. Pending approval by both athletic directors and the conference office, changes may be made to the conference schedule using the prescribed online conference change of schedule form. E. Game times during the week shall begin at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. and 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. on weekends with a minimum of twenty minutes warm up. Single game start times on weekdays will be 7:00 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. for weekends. Times could change by mutual consent of both athletics directors and the conference office. Section 6. Event Management A. The home team shall furnish any necessary equipment to play the game, all of which must be regulation-including the playing floor. This shall include: 1. Official score book and scorer 4. Scoring/time device 2. Game ball 5. Alternating possession indicator 3. Two 30-second shot clocks 6. Glass backboards

3 Section 7. Officials A. The ECAC Supervisor of Officials shall assign officials for exhibition and regular season basketball games. Section 8. Facility A. NCAA rules and regulations regarding acceptable playing venue will be strictly enforced. B. The playing venue must meet NCAA minimum size requirements unless relief from this stipulation is sought and the appropriate waiver secured from the NCAA Basketball Rules Committee. Section 9. Practice A. Visiting teams should contact the host institution a minimum of seven days in advance to schedule practice facilities. B. Visiting teams must be provided with the following for practice: 1. Adequate lighting in advance and during the scheduled practice time. 2. A clean and dry arena floor basketballs and towels 4. Water cooler Section 10. Warm-up A. For pre-game warm-up, the host institution shall provide a minimum of six (6) basketballs to the visiting team. B. The game floor must be available to the visiting team at least one (1) hour before tip-off of the first game. C. Following half-time entertainment, teams shall be guaranteed a minimum of five minutes of warm-up. Section 11. Sports Information A. The host institution shall be responsible for the following: 1. Complete half-time statistics and final box scores. B. Names of officials shall not be announced over the public address system. Section 12. Videotape Exchange A. Institutions shall exchange one (1) tape only with each member during the season. The tape must be requested by November 1, on a form provided by the conference office.

4 B. The game requested shall be listed in preferential order and every effort will be made to comply in an expeditious manner. C. Film requests must be mailed to each head coach by November 1, D. Tapes must be new VHS T-120 and previously blank. Tapes must be filmed and copied at SP speed, must be first generation master duplication and include sound. E. The tape selected must be received no later than 48 hours after the game. If this is not feasible, then the tape must be sent the next day by overnight mail. F. It is urged that express mail-overnight delivery be utilized, however regular mail is an option if the time constraints in are met. Please allow for school vacations and holidays when mailing film. G. The home team will be responsible for video taping the game. A dubbing machine will be used for the purpose of supplying the visiting team with an identical tape immediately following the game. H. The entire game must be filmed, starting with the opening tip-off and ending at the game's conclusion. Allowance for a lead in at the start of the game and second half is required. I. The scoreboard must be shown on every dead ball or the score and time must be announced on every dead ball. J. The game must be recorded so all ten players are in the picture and the numbers on the player's uniforms are visible. K. All inbound plays must be recorded, especially after time-outs. The tape must continue to run on out-of-bounds plays and free throws. Section 13. Scouting A. Institutions shall not provide scouting reports (written or verbal) or videos of other Conference member institutions to non-ne-10 Conference opponents. B. The verbal or written exchange of scouting reports or videos between conference members regarding other conference teams is strictly prohibited. Section 14. Medical and Training Services A. Refer to the opening section of the sport code manual, Section 17 (a), (b), and (c). Section 15. Complimentary Tickets A. Per conference policy, there will be no complimentary tickets issued for visiting teams.

5 Section 16. Milestone Protocol Policy A. Milestone achievement shall be announced after the subsequent dead ball during a game. Players cannot leave the court and the delay shall be only for the length of an announcement. In addition, there will be no formal ceremony at that time. Section 17. Overnight Lodging Requirements A. All conference teams staying overnight are required to utilize Book My Group for their team lodging reservations (regular season and tournament contests). Basketball Championship [Refer to the opening section in the sport code manual for further information regarding all NE-10 Conference championships.] Section 1. Ball A. The official ball for the Conference championship shall be Spalding TF1000 ZK Pro. Section 2. Championship Site A. The Conference Championship shall be at the site of the highest seed throughout, based on results from regular season competition. Section 3. Championship Format A. The championship shall be a twelve (12) team, single elimination tournament. Seeding shall be based upon the final, regular season standings (see conference tiebreaker section for applicable procedures). B. The championship shall follow a Saturday-Monday-Thursday-Saturday format. All rounds will be played at the site of the highest seeded team remaining in the tournament. C. The conference office shall announce the championship pairings upon conclusion of the regular season. D. Dates and Times: March 1 First Round Game 1: #12 Seed at #5 Seed 2:00pm Game 2: #11 Seed at #6 Seed 2:00pm Game 3: #10 Seed at #7 Seed 2:00pm Game 4: #9 Seed at #8 Seed 2:00pm March 3 Quarterfinals

6 Game 5: Game 1 winner at #4 Seed 7:00pm Game 6: Game 2 winner at #3 Seed 7:00pm Game 7: Game 3 winner at #2 Seed 7:00pm Game 8: Game 4 winner at #1 Seed 7:00pm March 6 Semifinals Game 9: Game 5 winner vs. Game 8 winner 7:00pm Game 10: Game 6 winner vs. Game 7 winner 7:00pm March 8 Championship Game 11: Game 9 winner vs. Game 10 winner 1:00pm E. Visiting teams in the tournament will be allowed up to one and one-half (1.5) hours of practice at the game site. Arrangements should be made in advance through the host institution championship manager. F. If the championship is postponed due to inclement weather or another act of God, the regular season champion will be named the tournament champion. Section 4. Automatic Qualifier A. Per conference policy, the team winning the conference championship shall be the automatic qualifier to the NCAA tournament. Section 5. Championship Manager A. The host institution shall provide a Championship Manager. He or she may not be the host's Athletics Director or the head basketball coach. B. Refer to the front section of the Sport Code Manual for duties and responsibilities of the Championship Manager. Section 6. Home Team A. The home team for all rounds of the championship shall be the higher seeded team. Section 7. Media Policies A. Telephones, fax machines and copy machines shall be made available for members of the media. B. Press row space for the media will be coordinated through the host institution. C. Halftime statistics shall be delivered to each locker room and press row after the game. Complete statistical books shall be available approximately fifteen (15) minutes after each game. Additional copies shall be made available to coaches.

7 D. Locker rooms shall be open to accredited media following the 5-minute coolingoff period. Section 8. Officials A. Three ECAC officials shall be used at all tournament games. B. Officials will be coordinated and paid through the Conference office utilizing the designated ECAC assignor. Section 9. Protocol A. For pre-game warm-ups and for the start of the game, each team shall take the basket at the opposite end of the floor from its bench. B. Pre-game protocol used by the host institution during the regular season will be utilized for the conference tournament. Section 10. Official Scorer A. The host institution shall provide an official scorer for all games of the Conference championship. Section 11. Finances A. All revenue from ticket, merchandise and program sales shall be retained by the Conference. B. Each athletics director is responsible for submitting a financial game report on a form developed by the Commissioner, plus all receipts, to the Conference office no later than fifteen (15) days from the conclusion of the championship. C. The host institution is responsible for all tournament administration costs. D. A hospitality room is encouraged to be available for those with credentials and shall be maintained at each game site at the expense of the host institution. E. Admission prices for all rounds of the championship shall be: a. Adults - $ 6.00 (min.) Students - $ 3.00 (with valid ID) Seniors - $ 3.00 (min.) Children (under 12) - $ 3.00 (min) G. Visiting teams will be guaranteed two hundred and fifty (250) tickets for each game of the tournament. Any unsold tickets must be returned to the host institution no later than two (2) hours before game time. Tickets not returned will be charged to the visiting institution. Section 12. Complimentary Tickets

8 A. Each participating athletics director will be given ten (10) complimentary passes for institutional VIP s and twenty-two (22) official party competitor s passes provided by the host institution. B. There will be no complimentary tickets given to participants. C. The Official Northeast-10 Conference Pass will be accepted for tournament games. D. Band members and cheerleaders of participating teams will be admitted through the pass gate.
