2 THE MULBERR CENTRE Dear Applicant Community Fundraiser Thank you for your interest in the above position with The Mulberry Centre (TMC). Please find enclosed an information pack for this post. 3 THE MULBERR CENTRE The Mulberry Centre The Mulberry Centre (TMC) is a cancer information and support centre based in the grounds of the West Middlesex University Hospital in Isleworth, Middlesex. We are a registered charity and the majority of our funding comes from charitable donations. All our services are free of charge. OUR VISION To be known and respected by everyone living or working within reach of our services who is affected by cancer. OUR MISSION The core mission of The Mulberry Centre is to provide support and information for anyone affected by cancer, offering practical ways of enhancing physical, psychological and emotional well-being. We aim to achieve this through support and information services, counselling and a range of complementary therapies to cancer patients of all ages, their families, carers and friends, in a welcoming and non-clinical environment. OUR CORE VALUES User focus Excellence Integrity Compassion Our opening hours for users are Monday to Friday 10am- 4pm and 10am -8pm on Thursday. We are staffed by a small team of paid personnel and a large team of volunteers. The services offered by TMC are briefly described below. Further details can be found on TMC website. 4 THE MULBERR CENTRE Job Description Job Title: Salary: Hours: Reports to: Community Fundraiser c. 26,000 (depending on experience) pro rata 10 hours per week to be worked over 2-3 days Fundraising Manager A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a part time fundraising assistant support our fundraising through organising and supporting events, individuals and volunteers. Main purpose The role of Fundraising Assistant will be to contribute to: Supporting income growth against agreed financial targets. Building and sustaining relationships with community groups, clubs, and individuals in order to develop a wide and varied donor base. Organising and supporting a calendar of fundraising events, which give an effective ROI in terms of income, supporter engagement, donor development and awareness raising in conjunction with the Fundraising Manager. The recruitment, development and stewardship of a supporter network. Raising the profile of The Mulberry Centre via use of electronic and online communications. Page 4 of 8

5 THE MULBERR CENTRE KE ACTIVITIES Community and Event Fundraising 1. To organise TMC-led fundraising events such as bucket collections, atrium sales, plant sale and ensure that there is sufficient volunteer support. 2. To maintain and develop existing links with community groups to inspire a range of fundraising initiatives. 3. To identify potential new networks and future income opportunities in local groups and clubs, which raise awareness of TMC and increase income trialing new initiatives and activities in conjunction with the Outreach team. 4. To provide support, guidance and promotion for community and event fundraisers. 5. To develop channels for selling TMC merchandise and keep stock control. 6. To develop and manage channels for selling donated goods. Volunteer Network Development 7. To recruit, develop, empower, manage and reward volunteers (in conjunction with the Volunteer Coordinator) in order that they fundraise effectively in their areas. Administration and Communication 8. To contribute, through agreed targets, to the annual income budget of TMC 9. To ensure up-to date and accurate records are kept of donations, which are easily accessible, in conjunction with the Finance Administrator. 10. To ensure donors are thanked and information requests from supporters and donors are responded to in a timely and appropriate manner. 11. To increase awareness of TMC through internal and external publicity across a range of online and offline media. 12. To develop attractive resources to promote TMC and community fundraising events. In addition the Fundraising Assistant will: 13. Work collaboratively with colleagues and key stakeholders (e.g. Chief Executive, Trustees, fundraising groups) in order to achieve TMC s organisational objectives. 14. Undertake any other tasks relevant to the role in discussion with the Fundraising Manager and Chief Executive. The Fundraising Assistant will be expected to work off site and on weekends and evenings on occasion. 6 THE MULBERR CENTRE Person Specification Education/ Training/ Qualifications Five GCSE s grade C or above including Maths and English Educated to A Level or equivalent Hold relevant professional qualification in fundraising or marketing Experience At least 1 year working in a fundraising or events environment (including any volunteering) Experience of managing people including volunteers Knowledge and skills Strong interpersonal skills able to interact with a wide variety of individuals Good communication skills both written and verbal Exceptional time management and organisational skills Proven IT skills in word-processing, databases, spreadsheets and . Ability to produce marketing materials using word, Microsoft Publisher and/ or Adobe design packages Website management experience Experience of using fundraising databases specifically using Harlequin database Online social networking skills Personal Qualities/ Other Highly motivated team player Able to work with a variety of groups and deal with new/unexpected challenges Ability to motivate, lead and empower others Knowledge and empathy of the work of The Mulberry Centre Car owner and driver Available to work evenings and weekends. 8 THE MULBERR CENTRE Information for Candidates Terms and Conditions of Employment Outlined below are some of the main terms and conditions of employment relevant to all employees of The Mulberry Centre (TMC). Probation All posts are subject to a probationary period of 3 months unless otherwise stated on the letter of appointment, during which your performance will be reviewed from time to time. During this probationary period, either party may terminate the contract by giving one month s notice. After satisfactory completion of the probationary period, the notice stated on your contract of employment will apply. Location our place of work is at The Mulberry Centre, West Middlesex University Hospital, Twickenham Road, Isleworth TW7 6AF. TMC may require you to work at such other place or places as TMC may reasonably from time to time determine. Salary Payment The commencing salary will be as stated in the contract of appointment. Salaries are paid in arrears on or around the 25th of each calendar month, by direct credit transfer into a bank or building society account. Annual Leave Holiday entitlement is 23 days holiday per year, excluding public and statutory bank holidays. Holiday will be calculated on a pro-rata basis for part-time workers. TMC s holiday year runs from 1 st January to 31 st December. Holiday entitlement not taken in one holiday year may not be carried over to the next without the prior approval in writing from the Chief Executive. Pension Scheme TMC maintains no Pension Scheme other than the State Earnings Related Pensions Scheme but will contribute 6% of your salary to your personal pension scheme. No Smoking TMC operates a no smoking policy. Page 8 of 8
