3 1. Capital City of Warsaw 1. Served population: unknown -1,735 million in 2012, but these are only the people registered as inhabitants of Warsaw,in reality much more estimates show numbers even as high as 2,5 million 2. LAW The Act of 13 September 1996, on maintaining cleanliness and order in municipalities (as amended by the Act of July 1, 2011 on amending the Act on maintaining cleanliness and order in municipalities and some other acts) The Act of 14 December 2012 on waste Since then municipalities took over the responsibility of municipal waste produced on their area. They have implemented waste collection and treatment systems. Each municipality establish their own rules for sorting waste.

Waste management in numbers Municipalities, in accordance with the Act on maintaining cleanliness and order in municipalities, in 2013 and 2014 could hand over no more than 50% of the total weight of biodegradable municipal waste for storage, based on the weight of the waste produced in Capital City of Warsaw in 2014 has reached the required level of weight restrictions of aforementioned municipal waste going to landfill in the amount of 2.43% Mg of biodegradable municipal waste was put into storage. Level of recycling achieved in 2015, preparation for reuse of the following fractions of municipal waste: paper, metal, plastic and glass amounted to 17,8%. Additionally, the achieved level of recycling, preparation for re-use and recovery by other methods of non-hazardous construction and demolition waste amounted to 97.97%.

8 5. Warsaw information campaign Let`s start from ourselves! Internal campaign for City Warsaw employees Special containers for selective collection of waste. The initiative for sorting waste at the Capital City of Warsaw offices was met with good support from the employees. Since 2013, more than 163 two-chamber containers (for segregated dry waste and glass packaging) have been installed in the City office facilities. Warszawa, r.

12 6. Warsaw education campaign Warsaw Recycling Days Recycling Days is an annual event organised in partnership with companies collecting waste. Its goal is to promote eco-friendly attitudes and spread information about Warsaw waste collection rules, as a part of sensible management of limited natural resources of the Earth. 13 Other efforts: Christmas tree - bus mobile points for collecting christmas trees The annual winter action Heat from nature" - collection of Christmas trees, which then go to Warsaw s heat and power plants as ecological fuel. Mobile point tour through the districts of the Capital City of Warsaw (16 working days): from 8 January to 31 January, at each location, the mobile point is available for one day; after these dates, PGNiG TERMIKA continues collecting Christmas trees at a designated point of their further processing not directly in districts Organization: TERMIKA PGNiG SA.
