1 Vacancy: Communications & Marketing Manager Purpose To support the development of NoFit State and maintain a strong relationship with all stakeholders by ensuring effective and appropriate communication across all platforms. Key Responsibilities 1. Support the development of the company s Business Plans through: providing marketing, communications and research and insight to inform programming choices and allocation of budgets undertaking benchmarking to identify baselines and set targets. 2. Support the delivery of the company s Business Plans through: providing strategic marketing direction to achieve defined indicators of success, established targets, and set priorities creating and implementing a comprehensive audience development strategy that provides effective mechanisms for monitoring audiences and identifying patterns and trends in engagement planning and allocating spend within the company Communications & Marketing budget and production budgets. briefing, commissioning and managing freelancers, agencies and consultants relating to marketing, communications, PR and research activity. using audience segmentation models to better understand the company s audiences and inform marketing activity ensuring accurate audience data collection that supports effective evaluation and comparison processes and effective and targeted communication. 2.1 Company Branding o Lead on the development of brand identity o Assume brand guardianship ensuring compliance both internally and by external partners 2.2 Campaigns Together with each project and programme manager and presenting partners, develop a robust marketing campaign for NoFit State, John Street, Cardiff, CF10 5PE, Wales +44 (0) Registered Charity Number Registered Company Number

2 each project and programme strand with clear targets and deliverable action plans including identified audience development partners in each touring location Together with each project and programme manager and presenting partner monitor the effective delivery of all actions plans Ensure that all project based campaigns generate accurate expectations Evaluate effectiveness of campaigns and report to the Programme Group 2.3 Press / PR o Respond to press and media enquiries and generate press and media coverage for the company and its activities o Identify key media partners in all countries we visit and develop relationships with them to maximise press and media coverage of all aspects of the company s work o Create press releases and press packs o Organising and managing press calls and photo-shoots 2.4 Digital o Develop the company s approach to new media and the company s online presence o Oversee the development of the company website and subsequent day-to-day website updates o Maintain the company s profile within all main social media sites and ensure the company takes maximum advantage of all web based communication and discussion platforms o Ensure the development and updates of the digital asset management system used by internal and external stakeholders to access logos, videos, fonts and photographs 2.5 Language o Ensure that all marketing and communications materials are produced in appropriate languages o Ensure that non Welsh media are effectively briefed so that the company is never referred to internationally as English o Ensure all marketing materials for all activity in Wales is fully bilingual 2.6 Copywriting / Publication o Producing copy for the company website, company quarterly newsletters, promotional packs, Press Releases and Newspaper Editorial.

3 2.7 Archive o Ensure that all projects are recorded on photograph and film o Maintain the company s press files and media archives and uploading to our web and social media sites 2.8 Engagement o Providing audiences with frequent and diverse opportunities to engage with the company outside of our visits to their locality including regular newsletters and eflyers, as well as digital and social media content. o Developing strong and robust feedback opportunities for all beneficiaries 2.9 Data Management o Ensure the company s data base system meets all marcom needs and advise on all development of the company s database system. 3. Other o Manage and co-ordinate the company s internal communication systems to ensure effective knowledge transfer and integrated information sharing. o Maintain foyer displays in the company s main training and rehearsal space. o Maintain membership of and participation in national and international networks. o Identify company training opportunities relating to marketing, communications, PR and research activity. 4. Company Culture Support the development of a strong and effective working culture within the company through: o Ensuring a positive working culture in which everyone actively listens, makes decisions and come to conclusions on the basis of evidence and fact rather than assumption or partial knowledge, which focuses on problem solving and actively supporting all other staff to succeed o Ensuring clear and effective and timely practical decision making and communication of decisions o Ensuring robust forward planning As Communications and Marketing Manager you will work within a number of inter-connected teams:

4 The Programming Group Meets monthly to discuss key programming issues and priorities, decide future company programme, and monitor performance against the company Business Plan and Indicators of Success. The Communications and Development Group Meets monthly to ensure clarity and co-ordination of fundraising, marketing, and income development priorities and allocation of resources in line with decisions made by the Programming Group. Project Teams Meets as required to ensure the co-ordinated and well planned delivery of all marketing, data collection and income analysis of individual projects including the delegation of tasks to specific members of the project team. Personal qualities and professional competencies Essential A strategic approach to planning and development A creative approach to marketing and communications A passion for the company and a strong desire to tell the story Creative flair and imagination The ability to work to deadlines and under pressure An absolute commitment to reliability and accuracy The ability to listen and learn The ability to work as part of a small team and the desire to make a real contribution Desirable A real interest in and knowledge of contemporary circus Skills Experience Essential At least two to three years professional experience within an arts organisation Proven ability inspire and enthuse others through both written and spoken communication Proven ability to provide clear and accurate copy A good working knowledge of database, website content management and IT systems Strong visual intelligence and an appreciation of the power of the image

5 Desirable The ability to communicate effectively in more than one language (in particular Welsh or French as well as English) Line Management The Communications & Marketing Manager is line managed by the Executive Director, Alison Woods. Terms & Conditions This is a full-time and permanent post with an initial three-month trial period. NoFit State complies with all relevant legislation as regards holiday pay, sick pay, and maternity and paternity leave.
