3 ABOUT The School of Retailing is a centre within the Alberta School of Business at the University of Alberta. The centre is entirely funded by the retail industry through partnership, donations and events. The School of Retailing was established in 2006 to provide global leadership and education and is one of only two Universities in Canada to offer a Bachelor of Commerce with a major in Retailing & Services. Building on the strength of the programs offered by the Alberta School of Business, we have developed a curriculum that balances a strong foundation in the fundamentals of commerce with retail-specific training and an integrated program of real-word experience through a variety of industry partnerships. The School of Retailing has a strong leadership team with a plan to grow the centre, engage more retail industry and most importantly continuously promote retail as a preferred career path. To reach our team: School of Retailing Emily Deveaux University of Alberta Executive Director 3-23 Business Building (780) Edmonton, AB T6G 2R6 Brandon Wu 3 3

6 PARTNERSHIP PARTNERSHIP WITH THE SCHOOL OF RETAILING The School of Retailing partnership is an industry relationship between the centre and a business that in turn provides support with recruitment, brand awareness, consulting, research, events and more. HOW MANY PARTNERS DOES THE SCHOOL OF RETAILING HAVE? The school of Retailing currently has 18 partners with a maximum of 20. Each year various partners will turnover based on their needs and resources, and therefore we currently have 2 spaces open for WHY IS THERE A PARTNERSHIP? The School of Retailing does not receive funding from the University of Alberta. It is entirely funded by retail partnerships, consulting, donations, and events. HOW LONG IS THE PARTNERSHIP? The partnership term is one year and can start any month of the year. January or September is the best time to begin the partnership in order to take advantage and guarantee attendance at all events. HOW DO WE KNOW IF THE PARTNERSHIP WORKS FOR US? The partnership is an open conversation. We have set events and dates where we have activities and events to participate in, however the partnership allows you to do whatever you would like on campus with our resources and students. HOW CAN WE ENSURE SUCCESS? It is important to keep in mind that having a presence on campus is what creates success. If you don t have team members who can be on campus at events, speaking in classes, and more, you will find the relationship challenging. HOW DO I KNOW IF WE ARE A GOOD FIT? The School of Retailing team is here to ensure you have success on campus. We will discuss with you what is required to be successful. Sometimes it is resources, many times a way of thinking. WHAT MAKES A SUCCESSFUL PARTNER? Engagement with students, awareness about opportunities, mentorship, industry experience, speakers, and having a presence on campus will ensure success. We will make you aware of any opportunities in the School of Retailing and the Alberta School of Business that we feel would be valuable to your objectives. 6 6
