2 This summary has been prepared to serve as a practical guide to Wachusett Mountain Ski Area policies to ensure you have a fun successful employment and offers valuable information on a variety of topics from expectations, history and work environment. Nothing in this summary is intended to create a contract of employment; it is a guide and can be changed without notice. Wachusett Mountain Ski Area is an employment at will employer, which means that either the employer or the employee may terminate the employment relationship at any time with or without notice or cause. While this is meant to lend stability to our policy and procedures, we reserve the right to modify any condition of employment with or without notice. Principles of Wachusett Mountain Ski Area Congratulations & Welcome to the Wachusett Mountain Team! The Crowley family began in the late 1960 s operating Wachusett Mountain Ski Area, and has built a national reputation as a premiere family ski area. The family is actively involved in the daily operations and takes pride in making Wachusett Mountain a place where customers want to come and enjoy. Some of the features of the ski area are: Doppelmayr high-speed detachable quad lifts, state-of- the art grooming vehicles, energy efficient HKD snowmaking guns, newly expanded ski shop offering top level equipment and well as beginner packages. Regularly recognized by Ski Magazine readers for our top quality food, snow conditions, our excellent customer service and Ski Patrol which was named the best in the nation. Wachusett Mountain considers you, the employee as the most important asset that makes all this possible. It is your smile, service and consistent interaction with our customers that keep our loyal ones coming back, and our new ones leaving happy and engaged. You are why Wachusett Mountain is a special place to play and work. It is our mission to make Wachusett Mountain the Best Medium sized ski resort in the entire country. It is only attainable if we all work hard at our jobs to provide a superb customer experience. Each one of us can and must do all possible to insure our guests are treated as we would like to be treated when spending our precious time and money. Whether welcoming customers arriving in the parking lots, selling tickets, assisting with rentals, keeping the slopes safe and in top condition with snowmaking and grooming, or serving food, each person makes a difference in the overall experience of all our customers. It is an honor to welcome you to the Wachusett Mountain team, Contact with the Public Wachusett Mountain prides itself on reputation and customer service and wants all employees to enjoy their experience working at the ski area, and believes that positive attitude will be passed on to all customers coming to enjoy the facilities. It is the responsibility of every employee seasonal or year round to exhibit a professional, courteous, engaged attitude at all times. Being in a recreational family environment, means all employees can come into contact with our customers at any time throughout Wachusett Mountain Ski Area 499 Mountain Road Princeton MA

3 the operating hours of the ski area. It is expected all employees act in a manner where the customer needs are met with a helpful, knowledgeable, friendly and courteous attitude. Abrupt and discourteous manners in dealing with the public or other staff members, will be considered a serious violation of the company s policy Cooperation of All Employees Pleasant and courteous treatment of other employees is an expectation and requirement of all staff members at all times for those employed by Wachusett Mountain Ski Area. Wachusett Mountain Ski Area by nature is an example of teamwork, and a high degree of cooperation at all levels and all departments in the company is needed and expected to attain success. Negativity and lack of professionalism from any employee will be noticeable to the customers. Personal Conduct/Appearance Employees are expected to maintain safety and professional conduct towards the public and property of Wachusett Mountain Ski Area at all times. Safety concerns are taken very seriously by Wachusett Mountain Ski Area and employees need to take responsibility for those concerns. Dressing in a manner appropriate for your work environment (uniforms are provided) that reflects well on you and Wachusett Mountain Ski Area, is mandatory and expected. Wachusett Mountain Ski Area is an environment of fun and recreational activities, and draws customers of all age groups as well as families, it is expected all employees take that responsibility seriously to ensure all visitors enjoy their time at the our facility. Absenteeism and Tardiness Attendance and punctuality are important factors for your success at Wachusett Mountain Ski Area. Because Wachusett Mountain operates on a seasonal non traditional work schedule, every employee contributes to the overall success by doing the job they are hired to do effectively, efficiently and on time. If you are going to be late or absent for work, you must notify the Department Supervisor before the start of the work day. If you are absent for three days without notifying Wachusett Mountain Ski Area, it is assumed you have voluntarily abandoned your position with Wachusett Mountain Ski Area and you be removed from payroll. Weather Related Questions: Wachusett Mountain Ski Area is a business that does not close with snow storms or school closings, please be aware of this when preparing to work your shift. If it snowing and your job is outside, please dress according, if school is called off more than likely the kids are being dropped off by parents and the ski area is busy. Being on time and covering your shift is expected on all kinds of weather days, unless your supervisor calls you off. Employment Procedures Wachusett Mountain Ski Area 499 Mountain Road Princeton MA

4 Employment Applications Standard employment applications are used by Wachusett Mountain Ski Area and are received and reviewed by the Human Resource Department of the company. Interview A prospective employee will be interviewed by the Human Resource Department, Department Supervisors and any other staff member that is deemed reasonable by Wachusett Mountain Ski Area. References Former employers, character references, and schools may be contacted for information before an applicant is offered a position with Wachusett Mountain Ski Area. It does not discriminate against persons because of their age as defined by law, gender, sexual orientation, race, color, religious, creed, ancestry, national origin, or handicap or disability in determining suitability for employment, compensation, promotion, transfers, training, education, social and recreational programs or termination Immigration and Naturalization Employment Eligibility Verification An I-9 form must be completed by every new hire and presented along with accepted identification. Pay Period Most employees will be punching a time clock outside the Human Resource office for each shift. Your supervisor will show you the procedure, and it is your responsibility to punch in and out each shift as the time clock is directly connected to the payroll system. Failure to punch in and out correctly will affect your paycheck and repeated offenders will be disciplined. It is against company policy to have any other person punch in your timecard and violating that policy will lead to termination. Pay day is Friday of every week and checks will be available for pickup in the Human Resource office after 8am Friday morning of each week. We will not be mailing any paychecks and will only release checks to the employee. Direct Deposit is available for all employees and encouraged; please see the Human Resource office for details. Lunch and Breaks All Full time seasonal employees have a ½ hour unpaid lunch period per work day, hours are to be managed to assure consistent coverage. Any employee who works six hours or more is entitled to a 30 minute break. Employees are required to take their unpaid lunch period each day according to law, unless an agreement is made with the Department Supervisor to forgo the break. If an employee works more than 6 hours, a half hour will be deducted from your pay unless your Department supervisor confirms you worked with and forfeited the break. Uniforms There are a number of departments that require uniforms which are provided to you from the Human Resource office. Your supervisor will instruct you on what uniform you will be wearing. The uniforms are issued and returned for every shift and will be laundered after every shift. The uniforms are part of an inventory and signed out by each employee, if an employee does not return a uniform after a shift, there will be a fee for that missing uniform taken out of their paycheck. 5 Name Tags Name tags are part of the uniform and required by all employees of Wachusett Mountain. Your first name tag will be given to you at no cost; any replacement name tags will be $5.00 each. Privileges: Skiing All employees can ski for free and use the company issued Employee ID as a lift ticket. Use of the skiing time must be done on personal time only. Rentals for skis and snowboards and ski lessons are also free for all staff and must be used at times that are not high volume for customer usage. Food Discounts employees must show their Employee ID in order to receive the food discount. Food discounts are for staff members only and not to be used for friends or family. If this privilege is abused, you will be terminated. It is the equivalent of stealing. Employee Parking employees do not have a specific parking area and are to follow the parking lot attendant s direction for parking. Please do not challenge the lot attendants or go by them to find another spot, their jobs are hard enough and employees need to respect their jobs. If you are instructed to park in the 3 rd parking lot, please take the shuttle and allow for extra time reporting to your shift on busy days.
