Monday Scripture Reading: Exo. 30:23-24, 30; 1 Sam. 16:13; Psa. 133; Acts 1:8; 1 John 2:27 But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things (1 John 2:20) ANOINTED TO BE MINISTERS OF A NEW COVENANT God has entrusted us to do His will on the earth. Since the Old Testament, He commissioned His chosen ones through the anointing. For example, He ordered Samuel to anoint David with oil, that he would be king (1 Sam. 16:13). Moses also anointed Aaron and his sons that they would minister as priests (Exo. 30:30). In Psalms 133, we see that the oil used to anoint Aaron was precious because, besides the olive oil, four other aromatic spices had been added to it. The book of Exodus reveals the composition of the holy anointing oil: four spices added to one hin of olive oil which represents the unique God. The first measure was five hundred shekels of flowing myrrh which symbolizes death. In the past it had been used in the ancient world to embalm bodies. The second measure was made of two hundred and fifty shekels of sweet-smelling cinnamon and two hundred and fifty shekels of sweet smelling cane. In the third measure, there were five hundred shekels of cassia. As we can see, together, the second and the third spices equal five hundred shekels. Therefore, we have four spices in three measures of five hundred shekels. (Exo. 30:23-24). The number four represents the creature, and the number three represents the Triune God: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The number three blended with the number four reveals that the divine nature had been blended with the human nature in the person of the Lord Jesus and the outcome of His work is the allinclusive Spirit. Thus today, the holy anointing oil is the all-inclusive Spirit. In it there is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The first and the third measures of five hundred shekels point to the Father and to the Holy Spirit. The second measure, which has been divided in two halves, represents the Son, torn apart for us when He was crucified because of our sins. In the New Testament, there are ministers anointed by God as well. The difference is that we have not been anointed with oil anymore but with the Spirit. When we believe in the Lord with our heart and we call upon His name, the all-inclusive Spirit enters us and gives us the divine life. By his Spirit and his life, He enables us to be ministers of a new covenant (2 Cor. 3:6). Moreover, the anointing we have received is not only outward (Acts 1:8), but mainly inward (1 John 2:20, 27). It leads us to do God s will, not only in the church meetings, but also in all the needs of the Lord s work and our daily living. Today, the anointing oil is the all-inclusive Spirit. Can we say that today we have also been anointed? Through which process? WHY DID GOD CREATE MAN? - Be prepared to reign 1

Tuesday Scripture Reading: Exo. 26:31-33; Mark 15:38; John 14:23; 1 Cor. 15:45 Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh (Heb. 10:19-20) THE NEW AND LIVING WAY Our God is unique, but in his work He works as the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. From the moment we believe in the Lord and we receive Him, we can relate with God as the Father, because we have the allinclusive Spirit within our spirit. Thereby, the Father makes His home with us (John 14:23).When we cry out for the Father in the church meetings or in our individual prayers, He is accessible because He dwells within our spirit. Hallelujah! Besides that, the work of the Son is marvelous. When we studied the tabernacle, the dwelling of God in the Old Testament, we saw quite a few aspects of His building with important spiritual significance for us, the ministers of the new covenant. In the interior of the tabernacle there was the sanctuary, which had been divided into two parts: the Holy Place and the Holy of Holies. The division between these two enclosures was a woven veil hanging upon four pillars with an artistic design of cherubim. (Exo. 26:31-33). If there was no veil, there would be three entrances among the four pillars of the sanctuary. The first entrance corresponds to the Father, the second, to the Son and the third, to the Holy Spirit. Because of the veil the entrances were closed. This shows that the access to the glory of God in the Holy of Holies had been forbidden during the period of the Old Testament, because of the sin of man which would be consumed before the holiness and the shining of the divine presence. Only once a year the high priest would be able to enter the Holy of Holies, passing through the veil, as long as all the demands had been satisfied. This was God s determination at that time. When the Lord Jesus died on the cross, the veil of the sanctuary was torn in two from top to bottom (Mark 15:38). This way, the second entrance had been opened, indicating that through the death of Jesus, the work of the Son, He arranged for us free access to the glory of God. Hallelujah! On the cross, the Lord Jesus was broken for us. In His death, by the shedding of His precious blood, He not only saved us from our sins, but He opened a new and living way for us to the presence of God (Heb. 10:20). This happened because Jesus has satisfied the righteous demands of God. Once approved, He resurrected and became the Spirit that gives life (1 Cor. 15:45). Today, because we have the Spirit dwelling in our spirit, we can enjoy the free access to the glory of God. Hallelujah! Once the Lord Jesus dealt with the problem of sin and opened a new and living way, He showed us that God desires our presence every day. Therefore, we need to turn our heart with sincerity to the Lord, in fellowship face to face with Him, calling upon Him deeply. Oh Lord Jesus! We have free access to the glory of God. How did the Lord arrange this free access for us? Explain with details. WHY DID GOD CREATE MAN? - Be prepared to reign 2

Wednesday Scripture Reading: Exo. 25:21-22; Heb. 9:3-4, 7; Rev. 5:8 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need (Heb. 4:16) THE HOLY PLACE AND HOLY OF HOLIES WITHOUT A SEPARATION In the Old Testament, only the high priest would go into the Holy of Holies once a year to offer for himself and for the people s sins (Heb. 9:7). The procedure to obtain forgiveness was firm when the high priest would need to enter into the presence of God, and to do so he had to meet a list of demands. The Holy of Holies was a very special place, holy and glorious, because it was the dwelling of the very God. There were several items, like the ark of the Covenant, having over it two cherubim of hammered work, and the mercy seat, which was the cover of the ark. The ark represents the very God; the cherubim, the glory of God; and the mercy seat was the place where God and man, represented by the high priest, would meet face to face. (Exo. 25:21-22). In the Holy place there was the altar of incense, from where the high priest would take the fire to put in the censer, before going into the Holy of Holies. Once the veil was lifted up, he would take the censer in a way that the smoke of the incense would cover the mercy seat so that the high priest would not be consumed by the divine glory. Enveloped with the smoke, the high priest would not be seen by the cherubim, guardians of the holiness of God. Thus, his life would be preserved in that place which was filled with the glory of God. He also used to take the blood of a calf, which was sprinkled over the mercy seat in order to obtain the forgiveness of his own sins and after that, the blood of a goat was sprinkled, as an offering for the sins of the people. In the New Testament, the blood of Christ has been already shed for us. If the Lord Jesus hasn t died for us on the cross, shedding His blood and opening the veil, we would not have a way to go to the presence of God. This is very significant and many times we take it for granted. The way these facts happened was not simple and every time we talk about this matter, we must realize its depth. There is an opened way that leads us straight to the Father. Today, the mercy seat is the throne of grace, to which we can come boldly, because the matter of sins has been already resolved (Heb. 4:16). Because of the blood of the Lord, we have been justified, and we can enter the Holy of Holies and have fellowship with God face to face. Hallelujah! Moreover, the veil that used to separate the holy place from the Holy of Holies has already been torn in a way that both of these places became one. There is no separation anymore. In the description of Hebrews, the altar of incense, which represents prayer, does not belong to the holy place anymore, but to the Holy of Holies (9:3-4). Therefore, our prayers can have high efficacy. We need to learn to pray in the spirit, in a way that Christ may be added to our prayers as the fragrant smell of the incense offered to God. (Rev. 5:8). To constantly come to the throne of grace. Today, when we enter the holy of holies, why do we not risk being rejected by God? WHY DID GOD CREATE MAN? - Be prepared to reign 3

Thursday Scripture Reading: Matt. 6:33; 24:14; Rom 8:26-27; Rev. 11:1-2 In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your Kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven (Matt. 6:9-10) THE PRIORITY OF OUR PRAYER We are protected by the power of God when we are in prayer, because, once we pray, we are in His temple. (Rev. 11:1-2). Today, our spirit is God s dwelling place, where we should remain, so that we can be protected by God in our daily living. If we have a living of prayer, Christ will be added to us. On the other hand, as we seek for prayer, we realize that we do not know what we should pray for as we ought (Rom. 8:26). Because of our weakness, when we pray, we talk to God in a general manner, superficially, and as if He were distant. We even present to Him a list with our requests related to our own interests. It is important to present our needs to the Lord, but our prayers cannot be limited to only that. In a practical manner, we can start to pray by calling on the name of the Lord deeply. Inwardly, we acknowledge that we really don t know how to pray. We ask the Lord to reveal the mind of the Spirit, because He searches the hearts and helps us pray according to the will of God (vv. 27). Actually, it is the Spirit who prays in our place and intercedes for us abundantly. This way, our needs will not be in the first place when we pray. We can and we should pray for them, but we should seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness (Matt. 6:33). Once we pray, we may let the Spirit intercede for us and pray for us. The prayer should not be based on our anxiety or on our own thoughts. The Lord has already told us not to be anxious, because, if He takes care even of the birds and the flowers, that do not even know how to pray, He will much more take care of us. Indeed, He is our God. To seek for God s righteousness is not only to let go of sin but to live according to His will, His purpose. Nowadays, God s need is to preach the gospel of the kingdom throughout all the inhabited earth, because the Lord s coming is near (Matt. 24:14). We must have the burden to actively pray for it, yearning for God s righteousness, which will come through the manifestation of the kingdom of the Lord Jesus. Even if our prayers are not so sufficient yet, the important thing is that we have the burden to give priority to the Lord s will. This way, the Spirit will certainly lead our prayers and Christ will be added to us. If we pray in this way, putting God s interests in the first place, by the end of our prayer we will no longer be the same because we will have more of Christ constituted in our being. As a result, we will be even more useful to the Lord, cooperating in His will. Your kingdom come. Your will be done! Amen! To pray with the burden for the preaching of the gospel. How can we seek God s righteousness? WHY DID GOD CREATE MAN? - Be prepared to reign 4

Friday Scripture Reading: John 1:1, 14; 14:1-4; 16-18, 28; 17:24 The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants things which must shortly take place. And He sent and signified it by His angel to His servant John (Rev. 1:1) THE REVELATION GIVEN TO THE APOSTLE JOHN If indeed we want to cooperate with the Lord, He will certainly reveal His purpose to us. That is what happened to the apostle Paul, to whom God revealed His New Testament economy. The key point of this revelation is faith: the Triune God, as the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, being given to the tripartite man inwardly. This revelation had also been given to the apostle John according to what he himself had testified (Rev. 1:1). In the first chapter of John s gospel, we can see that God, as the Word, became flesh in the person of the Lord Jesus (1:1, 14). To fulfill His plan, the very God became flesh and lived on earth for thirty-three and a half years. In the Lord Jesus, the invisible God could be seen and heard, touched and contacted. How glorious As a man, however, Jesus was still limited by time and space. People from other places and from other times, like us, would not have the opportunity to know God. Besides that, as a man, Jesus was not able to dispense the divine life to His disciples. For this reason, it was necessary that He die on the cross and resurrect in order to be transfigured, becoming the Spirit that gives life. What a blessing! In John 14, when He spoke about His death, the Lord Jesus comforted the disciples with these words: Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father s house are many dwellings [lit.]; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know (vv. 1-4). In this portion, the Lord s going refers to His death. His coming, therefore, was the resurrection. It does not refer to His second coming, but to His return as the Spirit, also mentioned as the Helper and the Spirit of truth (vv ). As the Spirit, the Lord will always be with us. And not only this, He has also prepared a place for us where the Father is. In His death, the Lord Jesus went to the Father and prepared a place for us in God (John 14:28; 17:24). What a grace and what a mercy! We, who were sinners without access to the glory of God, have been forgiven and today we can abide in God our Father. May we taste this fact every time we exercise our spirit to get in contact with the Spirit of God. Praise the Lord that on this day we may enjoy the love of our Father, because our place is with Him today. The Lord will always be with us. In a way that we can practice, how should our attitude be for us to abide in the Father? WHY DID GOD CREATE MAN? - Be prepared to reign 5

Saturday Scripture Reading: Isa. 53:11; John 1:51; 14:17; 1 Cor. 15:45 Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.' (John 14:6) THE ACCESS TO THE DIVINE LIFE Christ is the new and living way that leads us to the presence of God. He is the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6). He is the ladder that links the earth to the heavens (1:51). This is not only a doctrinal truth, but a fact that we can taste, because the Lord, as the Spirit, has brought the reality of meeting with the Father. Christ has made God so real to us! Besides that, He also is the Spirit of truth (14:17). Everything we need is in the Spirit! This Spirit is all inclusive, because He enabled the Triune God to be dispensed into our inward being. The Father is in Him, the Son is in Him, the Spirit is in Him as well. While He was on the earth, the Lord spoke about this with the disciples, but they could not understand it at that moment. John heard the Lord, but he only received the revelation concerning those words many years later in his maturity. In the Gospel of John we have the revelation of the divine plan. God is eternal and immutable, but in the person of the Lord Jesus, He submitted Himself to a hard process in order to become the Spirit that gives life and be dispensed to us (Isa. 53:11; 1 Cor. 15:45). The incarnation of the Lord, His human living, His death, resurrection and transfiguration were steps of this wonderful process that gave us free access to the divine life and to God s nature. Hallelujah! Surely, during the twenty years of his exile, John had fellowship with God in the spirit until he got the revelation regarding His eternal purpose. The more we have fellowship with God, the more we get revelation of His word and the more we realize how much we need the Spirit. May we treasure the all-inclusive Spirit that the Lord has richly given to us! The fellowship with God gives us revelation. Could you briefly describe God s eternal plan? 7 Powered by TCPDF ( Week 16 - The Holy Anointing Oil Sunday Scripture Reading: 1 Thes. 1:3; 2:13 But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him (1 John 2:27) THE PURPOSE OF THE ANOINTING Through the Spirit, the Lord inserted the faith in our human spirit. This objective faith needs to become our subjective faith. This means that the words that we hear from the Lord need to be practiced in our living. Otherwise, our relationship with the faith will only be objective and there will not be real change in our living. As we have seen before, we have been constituted as ministers of the new covenant. For us to carry out our function, the faith needs to work in us effectively (1 Thes. 1:3; 2:13). The minister of the new covenant must transmit the Spirit that gives life to people, not just biblical knowledge. There are many practices that help us regarding this matter. For example, when we call on the name of the Lord, we are led to the spirit; when we labour on the word in prayer, we extract spirit and life. Our goal in the church meetings, in our prayers and in the taking care of the saints is to take the faith, dispensing life to others. The Lord has enabled us for this matter because the Spirit is already in our spirit and we have free access to the Holy of Holies. Furthermore, the anointing teaches us all things. We have been anointed by God and we can be sent to wherever the Lord desires so that we may fulfill His will and cooperate with His purpose. We do not need to fear to be sent because in our prayers we are protected by the power of God in every situation. Hallelujah! To transmit the Spirit of life to others. Which must be our main goal in the church meetings?
