1 NEWBURGH-ON-YTHAN GOLF CLUB GENTLEMENS COMPETITIONS RULES AND FORMAT THE CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP (SCRATCH) 1. The Club Championship shall consist of four rounds of stroke play. 2. A cut off will be applied after the second round, leaving the top 16 players to play in rounds 3 and The winner shall be the competitor with the lowest aggregate score over the four rounds. 4. In the event of a tie, sudden death will apply and will be played after the completion of round four. Play will continue until a winner is declared. THE CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP (HANDICAP) 1. The competition shall consist of four rounds of handicap stroke play. 2. A cut off will be applied after the second round, leaving the top 16 players to play in rounds 3 and The winner shall be the competitor with the lowest aggregate score over the four rounds. 4. In the event of a tie, sudden death will apply and will be played after the completion of round four. Strokes will be taken at the appropriate holes and play will continue until a winner is declared. NB In order to fulfil Champion of Champions and other District and National competitions requiring both Scratch and Handicap Champions, no one individual can hold both Scratch and Handicap Champion titles. THE HENDERSON CUP 1. The competition is a singles match play knockout competition with FULL HANDICAP DIFFERENCE between competitors. 2. It is the responsibility of both players in each tie to play their match by the cut-off date for each round. Failure to do so may result in both players being scratched from the competition. In cases where difficulty is experienced in playing a match the Match Secretary should be consulted before the cut-off date so that a fair and equitable ruling can be made. 3. In the event of a tie after 18 holes of match play, sudden death will apply with strokes being given at appropriate holes. 4. Each match must be played to a finish. 5. Competitors knocked out at the first round stage of the Henderson Cup will automatically go through to the Leslie Cup where the same rules will apply. 1.

2 THE LESLIE CUP 1. The competition is a consolation singles match play knockout competition for those competitors who were knocked out of the Henderson Cup at the first round stage. 2. The draw will be posted as soon as possible after the first round cut off date of the Henderson Cup. 3. It is the responsibility of both players in each tie to play their match before the cutoff date for each round. Failure to do so may result in both players being scratched from the competition. In cases where difficulty is experienced in playing a match the Match Secretary should be consulted before the cut-off date so that a fair and equitable ruling can be made. 4. In the vent of a tie after 18 holes of match play, sudden death will apply with strokes being given at appropriate holes. 5. Each match must be played to a finish. THE THOMSON ALLAN TROPHY!. The Thomson Allan Trophy is a singles match play knockout competition. 2. The competition consists of 2 rounds of handicap stroke play after which the 16 competitors with the best net aggregate scores will progress to the match play stages. 3. In the event of a tie in qualifying, the player with the better score in round 2 will qualify. If a tie still persists, count back will be applied to the second qualifying round. 4. The draw for the match play stage will posted on the notice board as soon as possible after the second qualifying round. 5. In the event of a tie after 18 holes of Match play, sudden death will apply with strokes being taken where appropriate. Each Match must be played to a finish. 6. It is the responsibility of both players, during the match play stages, to play their match within a reasonable time. Failure to do so may result in being scratched from the competition. THE FOVERAN TROPHY 1. The Foveran Trophy is a singles match play knockout competition. 2. The competition consists of 2 rounds of scratch strokeplay after which the 16 competitors with the best scratch scores will progress to the match play stages. 3. In the vent of a tie in qualifying, the player with the better score in round 2 will qualify. If a tie still persists, count back will be applied to the second qualifying round. 4. The draw for the match play stage will be posted on the notice board as soon as possible after the second qualifying round. 5. In the event of a tie after 18 holes of Match play, sudden death will apply.with each match being played to a finish. 6. 3 THE HORN CUP 1. The Horn Cup consists of a single round of stroke play. 3. In the event of a tie, better inwards half and count back will apply. THE LOUTIT MEDAL 1. The Loutit Medal consists of 1 round of scratch stroke play. 3. In the event of a tie the better inward half and count back shall apply. THE DUNN CHALLENGE TROPHY 1. The Dunn Challenge Trophy consists of 2 rounds of handicap stroke play. 2. The winner is the player with the lowest aggregate net score over the two rounds. 3. In the event of a tie the competitor with the better score in round 2 shall be declared the winner. If a tie still persists count back will be applied to the second round score. THE GEORGE GRAY CUP 1. The George Gray Cup consists of 1 round of stroke play. 3. In the vent of a tie, the better inward half and count back will apply. THE NEWBURGH ACE 1. The Newburgh Ace consists of 1 round of stroke play. 2. The winner is the player with the lowest handicap score. 3. In the vent of a tie, the better inward half and count back will apply. THE SEVE BALLESTEROS TROPHY 1. The Seve Trophy consists of 1 round of strokeplay. 2. The winner is the player with the lowest handicap round. 3. The trophy was donated by Mathew Quinn to honour Severiano Ballesteros who died from cancer. The trophy is traditionally played for on the same day as the Cancer Relief fundraising event. 3.

4 THE KING EIDER TROPHY 1. The King Eider Trophy consists of one round of stroke play. 2. The winner is the player with the lowest handicap score. 3. In the event of a tie the player with the better inward half and count back will apply. BRIGGIES SHIELD 1. The monthly medal winners throughout the summer season from classes 1, 2 and 3 will qualify for the Briggies Shield final. 2. The final will be played over 18 holes stroke play. 3. The winner will be the competitor with the lowest handicap score in the final. 4. In the event of a tie, the better inward half and count back will apply. TUESDAY MEDAL 1. The competition will consist of several rounds of handicap stroke play which will be played over several Tuesdays throughout the summer season. 2. Full handicap will apply. 3. The best 6 rounds will count, the remainder will be discarded. 4. The winner will be the competitor with the best 6 round aggregate. 5. In the event of a tie, the competitor with the better net round shall be declared the winner. If a tie persists then the better inward 9 and count back will apply. TUESDAY STABLEFORD 1. The competition will consist of several rounds of Stableford which will be played over several Tuesdays throughout the summer season. 2. Full handicap will apply. 3. The best 6 rounds will count, the remainder will be discarded. 4. The winner will be the competitor with the best 6 round aggregate. 5. In the event of a tie, the player with the highest scoring round will be the winner. If a tie persists, the competitor with the better inward 9 on his best score round and count back on the best score round will apply. THE LIFEBOAT SPOON 1. The competition will consist of 1 round of stroke play. 2. The winner will be the competitor with the lowest handicap score. 3. In the event of a tie, better inward 9 and count back will apply. 4.

5 THE GREENKEEPERS TROPHY 1. The Green Keepers Trophy is a 4 person Team Texas Scramble 2. 1/10 th of the combined handicap and 4 recorded drives per team will apply in a 4 man team. 3. 1/10 th of the combined handicap + 1 and 4 recorded drives will apply in a 3 man team. 4. The winning team will be the team with the lowest score. In the event of a tie the Better inward half and count back will apply. GALLOWS HILL PAIRS 1. The Gallows Hill pairs is a pairs 4 Ball Better Ball Knockout competition. 2. ¾ handicap difference between the teams will apply. 3. It is the responsibility of both teams to play their tie before the cut off date for each round. Failure to do so may result in being scratched from the competition. In the event of difficulty in playing a match, the Match Secretary should be consulted so that a fair and equitable ruling can be made. 5.
