1 National/Regional Ijtema Taleem Syllabus 2014 Majlis Khuddam ul Ahmadiyya, USA Prerequisites for Participation: An approved list of eligible participants (along with their majlis names) needs to be provided to the Taleem Department by June 10th, This list should include primary participants and alternates. Competitions: PARTICIPATION & ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS 1. Tilawat (Recitation of the Holy Qur an) 2. Hifz (Memorization of the Holy Qur an) 3. Nazm (Urdu Poem) 4. English Poem 5. Impromptu Speech 6. Speech Competition 7. Quiz Competition Participation: Tilawat or Recitation of Holy Quran is an open competition. All Khuddam are encouraged to attend this competition. For all the other individual competitions, 3 Khuddam from each Region are eligible. Eligibility: To be eligible, one has to be among the top winners in each of the above competitions at the Regional/West Coast National Ijtema. If the Regional Ijtema was not held or winners were unable to participate in the National Ijtema, the

2 Regional Qaid would be responsible for providing a list of participants within the time frame given by the Taleem Department. Format of Competitions: We will have a qualifying round where competitors will be able to sign up for an appointment with the judges to recite and compete within the allocated time. All competitions will be open to spectators, but this format will allow competitors to sign up for a time that is convenient for them, particularly if they are in multiple competitions. The top five competitors will proceed to a final round, where they will recite or speak in front of the entire Ijtema audience. 1. Tilawat (Recitation of the Holy Quran) Competition Participants should prepare these chapters, as judges may select any verse(s) from either chapter for the participant to recite from. Chapter 67-Sura Al-Mulk Chapter 68-Sura Al-Qalam Note: Participants will be provided with a copy of the Holy Quran to recite the verses. Participants are also welcome to bring their own copies of the Holy Quran. 2. Hifz (Memorization of the Holy Qur an) Competition The following portions of Holy Quran should be memorized with translation (word by word) and recited correctly according to the following categories: Group 1 and Group 2: Participants are expected to memorize following portions of the Holy Qur an with word for word translation. The translation may be done in Urdu or English. Group 3: Participants will be asked to recite Arabic Only (no translation)

Nazm (Urdu Poem) Competition Qualifying Round: A Khadim may recite up to two couplets. Repetition will be allowed, but a Khadim should not take more than one and a half minutes. Final Round: A Khadim may recite as many couplets as they want but should limit their time to less than 3 minutes. The Khadim can select any one from the list: a. Hamdo Sana usee ko jo zaate jawidaani (Durr e Sameen) b. Main Apnay Pyaraun Kee Nisbat (Kalam e Mahmood) c. Kashkol ma bhar they jo mara dil ma bharra hey (Kalam e Tahir) Note: Text for the Poems is located at the end of the syllabus 4. English Poem Competition The poem should be read aloud and be of 3 minutes in length. A topic can be any one of the following:

4 a. Sacrifice in the way of Allah. b. Martyrs of Ahmadiyyat. Final Round: A Khadim may recite as many couplets as they want but should limit their time to less than 3 minutes. 5. Impromptu Speech Competition Speakers will be assigned the topic randomly from the list below and will have 3-4 minutes to prepare and 3-4 minutes to deliver the speech. 1. Seeking the pleasure of Allah 2. Essence of spiritual excellence 3. Commandments of Holy Quran 4. Overcoming the challenges of Salat 5. Persecution in Pakistan and abroad 6. The Blessing of Khilafat and our Responsibilties 7. Islam's stance on free speech and how it applies today 8. Becoming true servants of Allah 9. God consciousness and unity of Allah 10. Back-biting and perils of indulging in it 11. Significance of truthfulness 12. Jamaat system and role of its office holders 13. Islam and the separation of religion and state 14. Significance of Friday in Islam 15. Standard of Salat expected of an Ahmadi Muslim 16. Ramadhan and its blessing. 17. How can Islam help someone discover God? 18. The purpose of Tabligh 19. Waqf-e-Jadid 20. Importance of reciting Durood Sharif 21. Khalifatul Masih III (ra) 22. Islam's prescribed path to internal peace 23. The Blessing of Khilafat and our Responsibilties 24. Loyalty to One s Nation 25. Peace and salvation through the Messiah

5 6. Prepared Speech Competition This is the non-impromptu speech competition. The participants will be asked to deliver a 3 minute prepared speech on any of the below topics. Significance and Philosophy of Dua (Prayer) Addressing the challenges of raising children in today s world Islam s guidance for selecting the best life partner. Note: No final round. 7. Quiz Competition There will be one team per region, consisting of 6 to 8 Khuddam per team. Subject Material: Taleem Workbook Syllabus History of Islam and Ahmadiyyat Friday Sermons from the last year. Current Events/History/General Knowledge Eligibility: Each Regional Qaid will responsible for providing a list of participants within the time frame given by the Taleem Department.
