Life Mastery is only possible when we learn to become aware of how we can influence our subconscious mind. If you don t know how to control your thoughts, your mood will be like the weather: capricious, explosive, and at times, unpredictable. Your intentions may be to become more patient, but intentions alone are not enough. Understanding how to integrate your intentions with your subconscious mind is what the Life Mastery Course is all about. With awareness, it becomes possible to create new thought patterns, beliefs, and expectations about anything. These new programs eventually, with repetition, create automatic responses that can predict the outcome of any event from an internal perspective. Your subconscious mind is the most powerful tool you have to achieve life mastery! Right now your subconscious mind has thousands of predictable thought patterns, beliefs, and expectations related to thousands of topics, people, and events. These thought patterns, beliefs, and expectations influence all the automatic responses every day that reflect all the decisions, choices, and conclusions that you indirectly and directly have made in your life up until now. Because the vast majority of us have not been taught how to consciously program our subconscious mind, or how to protect it from negative programming (thought patterns, beliefs, and expectations) most of us have some programs that keep us thinking small and feeling stuck in certain areas of life. Controlling the mind, that is, your thoughts and feelings, and ultimately your destiny, is not an easy task and will take time. I ve come across many Eastern teachings that advise not trying to control the mind, but rather to disassociate oneself from it. Once you learn to disassociate yourself from your mind it does become possible to control your mind. Life Mastery begins when we realize that we are not our mind, but we have a mind; we are not our thoughts, but we have thoughts. We are both the creator of our thoughts, and the witness to our thoughts. We are not our feelings, but we have feelings. We are both the creator of our feelings, and the witness to our feelings. When this truth is realized, both scientifically and spiritually, the Life Mastery Process begins! The power of the subconscious mind really lies in its simplicity. The most amazing fact about the subconscious mind may be the fact that it does not distinguish between real and imagined. It can t tell the difference! Think about it! Can you recall a time while watching a movie during a scary or emotional scene that caused you to jump or cry?

Of course you can! All of us can relate to this example, but few people actually study what is going on when this happens, not to mention the impact it can have on your life! Your waking conscious mind knows you re just watching a movie but where was your conscious mind when you jumped out of your chair as the scary scene unfolded on your television set? It was your subconscious mind that caused you to feel the fear. When we watch television we often enter a trance state where our responses to stimuli are driven by our subconscious mind. Our subconscious mind reacts to events (real or imagined) much faster than the conscious mind. Often, by the time your conscious mind is aware how you feel, or how you reacted, it s too late it missed the boat! Your life is only somewhat controlled by your waking conscious mind. In fact, only 10% of your choices, responses and decisions are influenced by your conscious mind. Your conscious mind is the logical, rational, thinking part of your mind. It holds your shortterm memory and your willpower. Your subconscious mind stores your beliefs, expectations, habits, emotions, long term memory, values and your sense of pain and pleasure. An amazing 90% of your choices, responses and decisions are influenced by your subconscious mind! Our subconscious mind stores the programmed psychological and physiological responses to all the various stimulus that we may encounter in our lives. It automatically triggers specific responses to specific events (imagined or not) that have been programmed by our ongoing self-talk, life experience, habits, expectations, routines, and beliefs! Your willpower (conscious mind) will have some impact on your success in life, but it s your subconscious mind that will ultimately determine what you achieve, how you feel, what you do, and how you respond to life s challenges and opportunities! Let s do a little experiment just so we re clear on this critical truth. Ok, in the next 10 seconds go ahead and try to increase the blood circulation in your face just your face. While you re at it, go ahead and consciously try to add some heat in your facial area. Good luck! So, how did you do? Right! It s very difficult to use our willpower to perform this task, yet if I said a certain word to you (and you know which word I m talking about!) you may blush or feel offended without any effort at all! The subconscious mind would automatically trigger a whole host of psychological and physiological reactions to the specific stimuli (the word) that would cause you to react, and your conscious mind would be out-matched every time. The word you may be thinking of is associated with certain feelings and those feelings are associated with certain physical sensations, all of which have been programmed (consciously or unconsciously) into your subconscious mind!

In the previous example, your body simply automatically responded in such a way that was normal or a known. You see, every time you think a thought about a word, situation or belief, every time you imagine an outcome or reaction about a word, situation or belief, and every time you feel a feeling about a word, situation or belief, you create neuro-pathways in the brain that the subconscious mind uses to automatically respond to any and all stimuli it experiences! All of our self-imposed limitations and learned disempowering beliefs have also been programmed into our subconscious mind. The good news is that we can change the programming. We can remove what holds us back and add new programming to empower us to live more fulfilling lives! Before this happens it s imperative that you remember two things: 1) The subconscious mind does not distinguish between fact and fiction between imagined and real. (Later in the course you ll learn how to use your imagination to program your subconscious mind!) 2) You are not your thoughts, feelings, and beliefs you simply have thoughts, feelings and beliefs. This means you can program yourself to think, feel and believe anything that you can imagine! Are you starting to see how uncomplicated this process of life mastery is? It s definitely work but it s not complicated! My hope in writing this part of the book is that parents will become more selective with their children s television programs and video games, and play an active role in deciding what kind of programming goes into their children s subconscious mind not to mention the kinds of television programs and movies they watch! The average American child will see more than 10,000 murders on television and 100,000 acts of violence before he or she reaches 12 years old! The ignorant and misunderstood among us may say, It s just entertainment, it s not real. To the subconscious mind, everything is real. The fear, anxiety and trauma that the child witnesses as they watch their favorite television program is real and is stored in the giant human mainframe otherwise known as the subconscious mind. No wonder there are more than 11,000 murders each year in the United States! I also hope that everyone reading this book becomes more selective not only about the television programming they watch, but also about all other forms of programming that impacts our subconscious mind.

Changing Your Past Learning how to program your subconscious mind is the key to achieving any goal you desire. It is also the key to shaping your future. Your future has always been influenced by your subconscious mind. 100% of the programming in your subconscious mind has been programmed by your past experiences. Your past experiences have shaped your beliefs, habits, philosophy, values, expectations, opinions, and feelings. The ways you react to stress, challenges, surprises, disappointments, and opportunities have all been programmed in your subconscious mind. Another critical role of the subconscious mind is to keep things normal, that is, to keep things as they have always been. The subconscious mind does this in two ways: Physical Homeostasis - This is a survival or corrective response that the body uses to keep things normal. For example, when our bodies get overheated from exercise or stress, our bodies automatically begin to sweat to cool things off. Sweating is a corrective response to bring the body back to its normal state. Psychological Homeostasis - This is also a survival or corrective response that just tries to keep things normal psychologically speaking. For example, let s say you ve been somewhat withdrawn or shy your entire life and then one day you consciously decide to become more outgoing, and decide to go to a party to socialize and meet new friends at least that s what your conscious intention is. You show up excited about socializing and then, all of a sudden, a feeling of shyness takes over, and, because you feel uncomfortable, (since this activity isn t normal ) you decide to go home early barely having spoken to anyone. This is just an automatic response by your subconscious mind to keep things normal even though it s not what you may have consciously wanted. And because we ve been conditioned to become our feelings and to identify ourselves as our feelings, we often mistakenly see ourselves as shy, or whatever other feeling we felt. Once we realize that we are the creator of our thoughts, and the witness to our thoughts, as well as the creator of our feelings, and the witness to our feelings, then we realize, perhaps for the first time, that anything is now possible! The rest of this book is all about the Life Mastery Process that can teach you how to see with new eyes into a new potential and all the possibilities that come with it! I look forward to sharing this process with you in the remaining chapters, but before we leave this chapter on the subconscious mind, I want to provide a metaphor to help you understand the relationship between the conscious mind and the subconscious mind:

The Car Metaphor - Have you ever driven a car that was out of alignment? Maybe the steering pulled to the left or the right. It did not go straight and you may have had to continuously adjust your steering wheel to stay on course. This analogy can be compared to how the conscious/subconscious minds work together, where our intentions, which are controlled by our conscious mind, can be compared to steering wheel of the car, and our subconscious mind can be compared to a completely different force a force that s beneath the surface, pulling our steering wheel in a direction all its own. This force, beneath the surface of the car, could be called its alignment system. Like the car, we too have an alignment system that s beneath the surface, or to be more accurate, beneath our awareness. Our alignment system is our subconscious mind. The Life Mastery Process begins the moment we begin to align our subconscious mind with our intentions. When our subconscious becomes aligned with our intentions and our beliefs, then our thoughts, feelings, habits, expectations, and routines can work together to keep us moving in the right direction - turning intentions into reality! The rest of this course will show you how! In my journey of learning how to condition and program the subconscious mind, I discovered a process that is now revealed in my online course, called Hypnolinguistics. The course teaches the neuroscience behind our thoughts, feelings, beliefs and expectations as it relates to the conscious and subconscious. More importantly, though, it teaches four simple steps that can help you change any belief that holds you back, and any habit that has held you back. Just imagine creating an unlimited belief system free of any negative thought patterns...nothing holding you back. Imagine a life with no more self-imposed limitations. Four simple steps that can help you become free to become the person that you ve always imagined becoming.
