Planetary health manifest Richard Horton Lancet 2013 Human induced environmental harm; Climate change (global warming) air; CO2 increase, ozone depletion, atmospheric pollution land; chemical pollution, ecological change, loss of biodiversity water; ocean acidification, reduction of fresh water resources 10

Sustainable Development Goals 11 Health of people is not separated from health of the planet. I Kickbuch 2016

Planetary health Ecosystem is self regulated, if not externally harmed 12

Climate changes by global warming Take urgent action to combat climate changes Increase of green house gases 13

14 Climate meetings, agreement in Paris global warming no more than 2 C (preferable no more than 1,5 C)

16 Extreme climate

Protect, restore ecosystems, halt the loss of biodiversity Indoor and Outdoor pollution Biofuel and coal, CO2, carbon particles 17

18 Pulmonary development, asthma, cough, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, lung cancer, stroke, heart diseases

19

Loss of biodiversity Without fresh air, water, soil; less food production (bees, pollination, fruits etc), less soil formation and protection 20

Water pollution Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all 2020 Fertilizers pollutes top soil, overuse of nitrogen, phosphorus Pharmaceutical production, chemical wastes in water Drugs in urine or expired drugs flushed in the toilet Bisphenols (plastic) 21

European Union The contamination of water and soil with pharmaceutical residues is an environmental concern. estradiol, diclofenac, antibiotic macrolides Pharmaceutical production pollutions out of control 22

23 Antibiotics in animals Antibiotics (antimicrobial) resistance

Ensure sustainable consumption and production Enormous waste of still eatable food 24

25 REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE options for new designs and craftwork

26 Reduce marine pollution and protect costal ecosystem

Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all Political and economic responses long term investments, technical innovations supporting global health 27

Strengthen partnership for sustainable development Build resilient infrastructure and promote innovation supporting health Reducing emissions of greenhouse gases and pollution, through better transport, food and energy-use - result in improved health. 28

The largest and fastest transformative development in the history SDGs put responsibilities on each country, opportunities out of the crises. We have knowledge, innovations, collaborations and many good examples. 29

SDGs each countries responsibility to respond to the threats. Our responsibility as health workers to be aware - possibilities to address for sustainable development. One cannot do everything, but all can do something. Reduce climate changes - will reduce cost for health services. What is good for the climate is good for the health. 30
