15 During the month of July, we lost 44 hours due to high swells and an additional 21 hours due to strong winds. We also had two vessels that bypassed the port as they could Paarden not wait Eiland for the CT: R17.8 weather Bulk to clear. Sector: Maersk R 57.3 has consolidated Waterfront its two calls CT: per R49 SLD MPT: R18.1 week to a CMA vessel, thus reducing the number of calls. The decline in liquid bulk volumes can be attributed to the following: drop in diesel sales, decrease in Eskom demand and general slowdown in market resulting in negative deviation. The refinery has reduced its production in line with decreased demand. 15

28 AIDS TO NAVIGATION FORESHORE LEADING LIGHTS The developers of the new Netcare Christiaan Barnard Hospital have appointed PRDW engineering consultants. TNPA have had 2 meetings with PRDW to determine whether the proposed design height of the hospital could be achieved without negatively impacting the safety of navigation transiting the Duncan Dock. Simulations were conducted over 2 days at SAMTRA (Simons Town) to determine accuracies of theoretical modelling presented at previous meetings. Currently awaiting the final report on findings. After acceptance from TNPA, full report will be presented to SAMSA for consent and onward consultation with the local Cape Town PCC in line with s.78 of the Ports Act.
