2 GENERAL DESCRIPTION The LTM-ER4DX is designed to interface directly with the LTM-ER4 Edit Router (it can also work stand alone) and provide interface of digital signals into your Non-Linear edit system. The LTM-ER4DX features interfaces for SDI, IEEE1394(FireWire) and SPDIF. A 9-pin D-Sub interface cable plugs into the UTILITY port of the LTM-ER4 and this allows the front panel selector switches of the LTM-ER4 to control the LTM-ER4DX. A front panel switch can disengage the LTM-ER4 interface and allow the front panel buttons on the LTM-ER4DX control the unit. The actual switching of the signals is passive, therefore maintaining all signal integrity of the passed through data. FEATURES Low Profile Design Single rackmount (1RU) cabinet enclosure. 3 FRONT PANEL CONTROLS The drawing above shows all the front panel controls used on the LTM-ER4DX. REMOTE-LOCAL: In the remote position, the unit is controlled by the LTM-ER4 utility port via the supplied 9- Pin cable. In the LOCAL position the front panel switches can be manually selected. The 9- pin cable can be as long as 100 feet, and is wired straight pin-to-pin. CLEAR: This pushbutton clears any setting of the four(4) select buttons. SELECT: These four(4) pushbuttons select the input/output channel connected to the rear panel. ENABLE: These three(3) toggle switches allows the operator to turn off/on the indicated signal group. In the up position the selected section is active and will respond to local or remote commands. In the down position the selected section will not respond to the commands. - Page 2 -

4 The drawing above shows all the rear panel controls used on the LTM-ER4DX. IEEE1394: REAR PANEL CONTROLS Connect any IEEE 1394/FireWire media device here, such as cameras or VTRs. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS PORT IS NOT DESIGNED FOR PERIPHERALS SUCH AS HARD DRI- VES SCANNERS OR PRINTERS. To interface 4-wire IEEE 1394 devices a 6-4 adaptor can be used. These ports are full duplex operational as IEEE 1394 I/O connection points SPDIF: SDI: OPTIONS: These ports can be used to support any SPDIF(Sony Phillips Digital InterFace) device. Since the port is passive, it can be used for other signals as well. These BNC connectors are provided for SDI compatible devices. Controlling multiple LTM-ER4DX devices: The Utility port of the LTM-ER4 can drive up to 4 LTM-ER4DX modules. Just daisy chain a 9-pin cable cable to each LTM-ER4DX unit. Use the ENABLE switches or the REMOTE-LOCAL switch to select which LTM-ER4DX is online at any given time. 6 Safety Precautions 1. To prevent fire or shock hazard, do not expose this equipment to the environment of Humidity and/or dust. Do not use this equipment in an unprotected outdoor installation or any area classified as a wet area. 2. The operating temperature of this product must be kept between -40 C and +95 C. Direct sunlight or an intense source of heat, direct or ambient, must not be introduced to the product either by induction or contact. 3. Always keep the product on a stable and secure base or enclosure. Do not drop the product or subject it to sudden heavy impact. 4. Provide adequate ventilation so that thermal characteristics do not cause an increase in product temperature to resulting in overheating. 5. Do not clean the unit by using electrically conductive or corrosive chemicals. Always be certain to unplug the unit from AC wall power before any major cleaning. Use a damp cloth only for cleaning. 6. Do not subject the product to electrical mains power over voltage: The product must be used at the rated supply voltages indicated on the product rear panel only. 7. Do not plug the product into an overloaded electrical outlet. This may result in fire or electrical shock. 8. Object Ingress and Liquid Entry: Never insert or push sharp metal objects into the product or use such devices for an attempt at opening or servicing the product. Servicing should be referred to a trained and qualified technician only. Do not allow liquid of any type to enter the unit. Do not allow the unit to be submersed in water as this may cause a shock hazard. 9. A trained qualified technician should perform all servicing of the unit.
