1 Institution: Vilniaus kolegija/university of Applied Sciences Mathematics Provide knowledge of logical laws of Mathematics and theoretical calculations, in order to develop subject and professional competencies. Provide knowledge and skills necessary to solve problems that require mathematical knowledge and training. Annotation These topics of Mathematics are overviewed and analyzed: linear algebra, analytic geometry, mathematical analysis (concept of function, finding limits of a sequence and a function, derivative of a function, indefinite and definite integrals), differential equations, number and function series. After the math course a student will be able to: create a simple mathematical model of science and technology, and solve, interpret, and evaluate it using modern software. A student will be able to find relevant information in mathematical publications and use it properly. Prerequisites Secondary school Mathematics and Information Technology knowledge 1. Linear algebra 2. Analytic geometry 3. Function, limit of a function, finding limits, continuity. 4. Derivative and differential of a function. Concepts of derivative and differential of a function. Rules of calculus. Applications of derivative of a function. 5. Indefinite integral, properties, integration methods.. 6. Definite integral, Newton-Leibniz formula, properties of definite integral. Approximating definite integral. Applications.. 7. Differential equations, types, solving. Applications of differential equations. 8. Number and function series, convergence. Applications of series. Operating Systems To give knowledge about the purpose of operating systems and principles of its operation; selection, installation and upgrade; management of operating system security mechanisms; operation of file systems and its functions. Annotation In this program students learn about the internal composition of the operating system, processes, memory management, resource allocation and file systems. Students are introduced to the UNIX operating systems, the role, composition and operational principles.

Structured Programming The main aim is to accustom the students with structured programming. In this course, students will learn to create and apply the basic algorithms, to prepare simple and complex software designs, relative to cyclical and programmatic pieces, and get acquainted with the standard and structured data types in C programming language. Annotation In this course students will learn to program in C programming language, using simple programming constructs (conditions and loops), how to operate simple and compound data structures, use of various features and libraries. Header files Information Technology To give basic knowledge and form practical skills for finding information, preparation, processing, analysis and presentation in necessary form by using information technology The purpose of the subject is to form an understanding of modern update information technology, to develop skills and abilities to work with a computer necessary while studying and in future professional and practical activities, to form the habit and ability in the ever changing IT for self-sufficient studies. Studying IT students acquire knowledge about PC s equipment, computer networks, and operating systems. Windows operating system is analyzed more widely, also its regulation and application for personal demand, traditional supplements. Students learn how to manage files and documents, use the Internet and electronic mail, learn how to professionally design and edit documents, spreadsheets. Students acquire an understanding of using databases management systems. Also learn to design and clear presentations. They are presented with complex usage of basic applications programs, data exchange between programs and an understanding and skills of complex document creation. The modern information technologies used in company or organisation activities indicate the high qualification level and potential of company and personal. Therefore the companies give a special regard for putting in to practice skill the information technology work methods. Information technology practice is to train to put in practice information technology knowledge, to form the practice skills of modern information applying, to evaluate critically students work results, to present their work to group, to create the practice report. Professional English To provide students with general practical communication knowledges and skills, required to communicate orally and in written good English on professional level. Analysis of special English pecularities, reading of Professional materials, discussion on Professional topics. General English knowledges (grammar and lexis) are deapened to better understanding and usage of technical English and terminology. Vocabulary of special English terminology (terms, term units, acronyms, abbreviations) is being improved and the ability to communicate in Professional situations is developed.
