Christmas eve Families often spend Christmas eve together by having a small party or doing activities together. Christmas is about being together. Small kids believe that Santa comes and that he leaves presents for them for Christmas day. Lots of them try to stay awake all night to catch a glimpse of him. Before going to bed they leave cookies and milk or mince pies and milk for Santa and his reindeer. Some families go to church at midnight to celebrate as well.
Christmas Eve pictures
Christmas films On Christmas eve, my family usually sits on the couch in our new Christmas pyjamas. We have a box of chocolates and we watch Christmas films. I like all the Christmas films but my favourite film is the Muppets Christmas carol. By: Lauren Williams, 7B
Christmas Tree Every year, everyone in the UK decorates their Christmas trees with ornaments, tinsel and candy canes. It is traditional for people to put their trees up 12 days before Christmas day, and take it down 12 days after Christmas. A lot of people also decorate their tree with lights, and put a angel or a star on top of the tree. Many Christmas trees nowadays are fake, because if they were real the branches could fall off if you didn t take care of them properly. It is also traditional to put our presents under the Christmas Tree.
Presents In our families we open presents when we first get up and we give our presents out from under the tree and give them to our family. Then we have breakfast together, and then we get the presents that we have put on our lists. We open presents around Christmas too, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Years day. People in England also have fun wrapping presents waiting for the joy on others faces on Christmas Day. By Katie & Georgia x
PRESENTS In Liverpool, presents are quite a big deal at Christmas. We know that Christmas is about the birth of Jesus but very often some of us forget this. We exchange presents some expensive and some less expensive - but for many people, especially teenagers, it is all about the presents and the real meaning of Christmas is missed. By Samantha XXXXX

Food at Christmas On Christmas day, people normally have a Roast Dinner which looks like this. We eat turkey, roast potatoes, stuffing, sprouts and other vegetables
Food at Christmas Also at Christmas people have desserts such as a yoghurt, cake, cheese cake, ice creams etc These are traditional British desserts: Christmas cake: Christmas pudding:
Christmas at school. In school we put up a nativity scene, have a Christmas disco and a Christmas assembly. Each year at the Christmas assembly our choir would sing Christmas carols and at our Christmas disco we would dance to our favourite songs. Our school Christmas decorations are basic. We always have a nativity scene in the front entrance. Our school celebrates Christmas like any other school. Our classes usually have tinsel around the boards and around the doorframe. By Margaret Trzeciecka.
Our Christmas school disco s are very good. The whole school is together in the hall and my form teacher Mrs Jenkins is the DJ. She plays music like Justin Bieber, The Black Eyed Peas and many more. She dances about the stage to the music which is very funny. It is a good way to end our term together. We all have very good fun at the disco s and I can wait for our next one! By Lauren XxX
Christmas in our parish The week before Christmas we decorate the Christmas tree. The St. Teresas children sing during the mass on Christmas Day. We share communion, we do the readings and the offertory and sing hymns and the teachers give us sweets (only to the children though ) By
The nativity The nativity is about the birth of Jesus. If we did not have the birth of Jesus we would not have Christmas. The main people in the nativity are Mary and Joseph and the baby Jesus. There are also some shepherds and their animals. In the nativity scene there are three kings who get called the three wise men. They saw a big bright star in the sky and they knew it was a sign that a new king had been born so they followed the star and found the baby boy. They brought Him gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh Our year did a little of the nativity at our Christmas assemblies by Georgia & Erin.

Santa is a tale of an old man who brings presents to good children all around the world, at midnight on the 24 th of December. There is a tale that instead of presents, he leaves chucks of coal to children who have been naughty. He leaves the presents under our Christmas trees in our houses. He gets in the houses by coming down the chimney.
By Carlie Harrison Rudolph Children believe that Rudolph is a special reindeer who has a nose that lights up red to guide Santa s sleigh. In the song, Rudolph used to get picked on. It s only a story though, he s not real.
Carol singing! Before Christmas, there are often people who go out to sing carols and Christmas songs. Some people might even be lucky enough to raise some money for charity. We sing carols like Silent Night, Away in a manger, O come all ye faithful. There are also many other Christmas songs like Jingle bells, White Christmas, Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer.
Here are a few pictures to show some carol singers...
Christmas Cards At Christmas time people send cards to each other to show that they are important to them and to celebrate Christmas and the birth of Jesus. Some people prefer to send cards with scenes such as the nativity and some people like to give humorous cards or cards with cartoons on them.
snow In England we have lots of snow and at Christmas time it usually snows. Some years it doesn t snow, so when we do have it we enjoy it. We make snowmen and decorate them by putting scarves and a face on it. Do you ever have snow in Italy? BY BETHANY AND MIA FROM 7B
