1 CHAMPS Orff Ensemble Not just choir...now our Orff Ensemble allows us to not only sing, but also create music in a variety of ways! We will be meeting every Thursday after Winter break, and finishing after our Art s Alive performance. A variety of music will be performed, including folk songs, elemental music, student-inspired pieces, and more! The only thing you need to supply is a willing attitude and a desire to perform beautiful (and fun!) music! Grades: 4th-6th Tryouts: Dec. 18, 2:30-3:45 Dates: Jan. 7 May 21 Time: 2:30-3:45 Art s Alive Performance: Saturday, May 16 MATH PENTATHLON/2nd and 3rd Math Pentathlon is a fun math program that incorporates math problem solving, gameplaying, and strategy. Your child will learn several games and practice with peers to develop new skills and strategies. We will then compete against other schools at the Indianapolis National Mathematics Pentathlon Tournament on May 2, When: Mondays, 2:30-3:30, January April Club Leaders: Mrs. Hoersten/ Mrs. Scott/ GIRLS ON THE RUN/GIRLS ON TRACK This program is for ANY girl, s 3-6. We work at our own pace, and challenge ourselves with our own goals. It is noncompetitive. We teach life skills through dynamic, interactive lessons and running games. The curriculum is taught by certified Girls on the Run coaches and includes three parts: understanding ourselves, valuing relationships and teamwork and understanding how we connect with and shape the world at large. It culminates in a local 5K the girls train for all season, celebrating their accomplishments! Grades: 3-6 When: Mondays and Wednesdays, 2:30-4:30 p.m., Sept.-Dec. (1st semester team) Feb. June (2nd semester team) Head Coaches: Mrs. Camacho/ Ms. Littlejohn/ Ms. Jackson/ MATH BOWL/5th and 6th An annual state-wide competition sponsored by the Indiana Association of School Principals and Purdue University. Members of the CWE team will consist of 5th and 6th students who have been recommended by their teachers, and demonstrating math skills at a tryout in December. Up to 20 students will be selected to participate. 3 C2K (Champs to Kings)/3rd-6th for This club for boys helps to facilitate the identity, academic, and social development of young men. Please look through and see if there is one your student would be interested in. Keep in mind, some groups are by invitation only (this will be noted with the group). Students will be asked to make a choice if they are interested in 2 or more groups that conflict. We will not be permitting part-time in any groups this year, and students will not be permitted to quit one group to join another. Club leaders will communicate with students and parents the rules, expectations, and further specifics of each individual club once students have decided on/been invited to a club. Grades and behavior may be used to consider initial or continued in any club. Only those students who are participating in a club may stay after school. Siblings who are not part of a club may not stay after school. Transportation home must be provided or arranged by a parent. Students must be signed out by an adult from all after-school activities. If you have questions about any of the groups, please contact the staff member in charge of that group.

5 MATH PENTATHLON/5th and 6th Have fun playing games while getting to be a Math Wiz! When: Feb. April, 2 times/week (dates/days announced later) Times: 2:30-4:30 p.m. (Tournament end of April) Create-A-Chef Club/3rd and 4th It s never too early to begin learning the art of cooking! Four different classes, each lasting for 6 weeks. When: Wednesday Time: 2:30-4 p.m. Group 1: 9/3 10/8 Group 2: 11/5 12/10 Group 3: 1/28 3/4 Group 4: 4/15 5/20 Club Leader: Ms. Eaker/ SERENDIPITY CLUB/4th girls Serendipity Club promotes positive self-image and will help build confidence. The girls will participate in activities to help them in social situations. When: Sept. May, last Monday of each month (unless noted otherwise), 2:30-3:30 Club Leaders: Mrs. Clark/ Mrs. Engel/ Mrs. Monroe/ CWE Chrome Club/3rd and 6th *Teacher invitation required The CWE Chrome Club will help train 3rd and 6th students on how to use the different types of applications used in Google Drive. Three students from each class will be selected and invited to join Chrome Club. These students will help to mentor other students in their classroom when Google Drive is used (during lessons and projects throughout the year.) Students will learn the basics on how to sew. We will hand-sew some projects, in addition to learning how to use a sewing machine. Possible field trips (Saturdays) to fabric store.
