That is why we have embarked on an integrated approach to manage people development efforts in a cohesive manner. Our Corporate Leadership Pipeline starts with the graduate development programmes. Through the leadership pipeline, talented staff will be able to assume senior management positions in a timeframe that matches our business needs as well as individuals' aspirations. Graduate Opportunities in MTR Corporation To meet our business needs and to match individual profiles and aspirations, we organise our graduate development programmes along two streams: 1 Corporate General Management - Graduate Trainee Programme 2 Professional Expertise - Graduate Engineer Programme - Property Associate Programme - Inventory & Materials Management Associate Programme - Railway Officer Trainee Programme 1 Corporate General Management Graduate Trainee Programme The Graduate Trainee Programme is part of our Corporate Leadership Pipeline which aims at developing programme participants along the general management path under an accelerated 2-year programme. You will have intensive cross-functional job rotations in 3-4 core functions (with a typical duration of 6-9 months each) to gain in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience. 1st Year Corporate familiarisation Cross-functional job rotations Attachment to core business Network building 2nd Year Continue cross-functional job rotations in responsible positions Enhance network building Identify and develop expertise in a selected function Leadership and Management Training throughout the Programme From the 3rd year onwards, you will take up placement with senior supervisory responsibilities in a business function. Programme participants with academic qualifications recognised by the Hong Kong Institute of Engineers (HKIE) may undergo HKlE accredited Scheme A Training in pursuit of chartered engineer status. 02

4 Job Rotation and Development Activities for Graduate Trainee You may have rotations in, but are not limited to, the following functions: Operations, Projects, Property, China and International Business, Commercial and Marketing, Corporate Affairs Operations Projects Property China and International Business Commercial and Marketing Corporate Affairs Customized development initiatives in the Graduate Trainee Programme are structured and comprehensive: Intensive induction programme Experiential team-building workshops Cross-functional job rotations Management and leadership training workshops Action learning projects Mentoring Study trips Participation in corporate events Outward Bound training Executive sharing sessions Community services / volunteering work We are looking for : Final year students or recent graduates from engineering, transportation, business and related disciplines with excellent academic results and the following qualities: Strong leadership potential and interpersonal skills Good commercial acumen Strong problem solving skills Strong adaptability and flexibility Strong passion and commitment High mobility to travel and work in Mainland China / overseas Strong alignment with MTR Values Excellent command of English and Chinese (including Putonghua) 03

5 2 Professional Expertise We are recruiting fresh or recent graduates with excellent academic achievements in relevant disciplines into the following programmes: 2.1 Graduate Engineer Programme 2.2 Property Associate Programme 2.3 Inventory & Materials Management Associate Programme 2.4 Railway Officer Trainee Programme You should also possess good analytical and problem solving skills, excellent communication skills in English and Chinese (including Putonghua) and high development potential. Our graduate programme participants will have the opportunities to take part in customized development activities such as people and management skills training, conduct research and take up various project-based assignments under the mentorship of senior managers. 2.1 Graduate Engineer Programme Our Graduate Engineer programme is a HKIE accredited Scheme 'A' Training programme leading to the gaining of Chartership. It is a comprehensive and forward looking programme which provides you with an excellent opportunity to gain all round exposure in various engineering disciplines. We offer Graduate Engineer programme in the following disciplines: Building Services Civil Control Automation & Instrumentation Electrical Electronic Mechanical 04

6 2.2 Property Associate Programme The Property Associate programme provides exposure to different aspects of property functions through job rotations in different departments in Property Division. You will be involved in conducting market researches and analysis of potential property development projects, assisting in the planning and management of property development projects, and the formulation and implementation of marketing and promotion strategies for properties managed by the Corporation. You will also take part in property management of premier residential and investment developments, and will be given project-based assignments under the guidance of senior managers who will act as mentors. 2.3 Inventory & Materials Management Associate Programme The Inventory & Materials Management Associate programme aims at accelerating development of graduates to professionals in the disciplines of inventory, materials and stores management. The programme will provide you with on-the-job training opportunities within the Materials & Stores Department to gain dynamic exposure to the functions of Inventory Management, Stores Operation as well as Stores System, Accounting and Data Control. 2.4 Railway Officer Trainee Programme The Railway Officer Trainee programme provides graduates with a structured classroom and on-the-job training covering skills, knowledge and experience of railway operations. Participants will work in the Operations Control Centre to manage and plan train services in order to ensure safe and smooth railway operations, and to provide excellent customer services to the community. Under the guidance of experienced supervisors and managers, participants will obtain comprehensive knowledge of railway operations through a fast track approach by active participation in development activities and project-based assignments. You should demonstrate that you are capable, customer-oriented with strong commitment in railway operations, and possess strong analytical skills and safety awareness in handling incidents. 05
