9 2) Eligibility 1) Ph. D. (Environmental Science) 1) A Candidate for admission to the course of Ph.D must have obtained 55% marks at the Master s Degree or other equivalent examination in Environmental Science or a subject allied thereto the alliance to be decided by the Board of Studies which will consider the application for admission on the date of making application. 2) The candidate who appeared in Master s Level Examination in the current session may also appear in the Entrance Test Examination. ) There will be provision of relaxation of 5% in marks and 20 % reservation department-wise for SC/ST candidates for admission in Ph.D. programme I. A candidate registered for Ph.D. shall be required to stay in the University Headquarter at Hisar for Pre-Ph. D. course. II. Candidates, who are awarded fellowship by the University / outside agency to carry Ph.D. work, shall be required to stay at University Headquarter for whole duration of the fellowship. II) M.Tech. (Environmental Science &Engg.)- Semesters 1) M.Sc. Environmental Sciences or M.Sc. Industrial Chemistry/ Chemistry or M.Sc. Applied Physics/ Physics, All Life Sciences or B.E./B.Tech. Or equivalent degree in Mechanical/ Chemical/ Electrical/ Civil/ Agricultural Engineering/ Biomedical Engineering with at least 55% (50% for SC Candidates of Haryana) marks and valid GATE score. 2) Preference will be given to candidates with valid GATE score for admission to M. Tech. ) If seats remain vacant due to non-availability of GATE qualified candidates, the same will be filled up by the candidates possessing qualification as indicated above on the basis of the entrance test conducted by the University. III) M.Sc. (Environmental Science)- Semesters B.Sc./B.Sc.(Hons.) Degree or its equivalent with at least 50% marks in aggregate. IV) P. G. Diploma in Environmental Management (PGDEM) One Year Bachelor s degree in any discipline.

General Awareness topics related to Environmental Sciences/ Environmental Engineering. (ii) M. Tech. (Environmental Science & Engineering) M.Sc. level course of Environmental Sciences, B.E. / B. Tech. level course related to Environmental Engg. General awareness topics related to Environmental Sciences/ Environmental Engineering. (ii) M. Sc. (Environmental Sciences) Basic knowledge of Biological Sciences and Physical Sciences of B.Sc. level and general awareness on topics related to Environmental Sciences. ) No. of Seats: (i) Ph. D. (Environmental Science): Variable (Given in prospectus.) (ii) M. Tech (Env. Sci. &Engg.): 20 (iii) M.Sc. (Environmental Science): 50 (filled on the basis of entrance test result) (iv) P.G. Diploma in Environment Management: Not Defined (on the basis of bachelor s degree awards) 5) Admission Procedure: i) Ph.D. (Environmental Science): (a) (b) The selection of a candidate for admission to Pre-Ph.D. course will be based on passing the entrance test with at least 50% marks (5% for SC/ST candidates) The candidate who have qualified JRF-NET and Regular faculty of GJUS&T will be exempted from appearing in the entrance test for Ph.D. programme. However, the Vice- Chancellor on the recommendation of the Departmental research Committee and Board of Post Graduate Studies & Research may exempt any other class of the candidates(s) from the condition to appear in the Entrance test depending upon the merit of the case. (iii) (a) The entrance test will carry marks. (a) The entrance test will be of 2 hours duration and will comprise multiple choice (objective type) questions with correct answer. (b) There will NOT be negative marking.

The selection of a candidate for admission to a course will be based on merit list drawn on the basis of the score in the Entrance Test subject to fulfilling other conditions as given in the Prospectus. Result of Entrance Test will be displayed on the date(s) given in the prospectus under Admission Schedule. (iii) (a) Merit lists for admission to the 1 st semester of various courses except M. Tech. Course shall be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the Entrance Test only. (b) The entrance test will carry marks. (c) The entrance test will be of 1:0 hours duration and will comprise Multiple Choice (objective type) Questions with one correct answer. (d) There will NOT be negative marking. (I) For admission to M.Tech. merit list will be prepared on the basis of GATE score. Candidates with valid GATE score are exempted from appearing in the entrance test. However, for admission to M. Tech. programme, candidates are required to purchase the University Prospectus and fill the application form. (II) If seats still remain vacant, merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the entrance test conducted by the University. Necessary Directions: 1. If two or more candidates secure identical marks in the entrance examination, their relative merit will be determined by the percentage of marks obtained by them at the qualifying or equivalent examination. In case the percentage of marks secured in qualifying or equivalent examination is also identical, the candidate older in age will be preferred. 2. All candidates including those with valid GATE score are required to furnish their application forms and attested copies of all relevant documents and testimonials for ascertaining their eligibility. The candidates whose names stand in the merit list will have to present themselves before the Chairperson of the Department concerned for counseling in accordance with the time and date specified along with fee and original documents. The candidates will have no right to claim admission without producing original documents and fee etc.. The application form, appended at the end of the Prospectus, duly filled and completed in all respects, must reach the Chairperson of the Department concerned by the respective
