3 St. Anne s Hymn (Sung to the melody of the Lourdes Hymn) Refrain: O Good St. Anne, we call on your name, your praises loud, your children proclaim. To pray at your altar in faith we draw near, led here by your daughter, Christ s Mother, so dear. St. Anne is in heaven and joins us in prayer to praise the Lord s blessings and love that we share. To all those who come here you offer your prayer that they may find comfort in Jesus dear care. St. Anne of the Sunset in work and in prayer we seek your fair word upon all that we bear.
4 Celebrant: In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Let us join in the Pilgrim s Prayer to Good St. Anne. All: Saint Anne, I have come here to honor you during this Novena. Those who participate in this Novena have often experienced the fruits of your goodness and intercession. Like every true believer, I have favors to ask of you. I know that you will be as good to me as you have been to others who have come to your shrine. Saint Anne, you know the grace I am most in need of at this present moment, the special needs I am expressing through my prayers with the community here present. Listen to my prayer. I entrust to your care, all my material and spiritual needs. I commend my family, the Church, my country and the world to you. Keep me faithful to Christ and His Church and one day escort me into the Father s Eternal Home. Amen.
5 The Chaplet of Saint Anne Celebrant: Let us pray the Chaplet of St. Anne. In honor of Jesus (One Our Father, Five Hail Marys, One Glory Be) All: St. Anne, mother of Mary, pray for us. In honor of Mary (One Our Father, Five Hail Marys, One Glory Be) All: St. Anne, mother of Mary, pray for us. In honor of Saint Anne (One Our Father, Five Hail Marys, One Glory Be) All: St. Anne, mother of Mary, pray for us.
6 A Prayer in Sickness* OGood Saint Anne, * you wanted to be known as the hope for the sick, * the mother of the infirm, * and the help of the afflicted. * You possess the marvelous secret to nourish our confidence * and our desire to live, * even though sickness may darken our horizon. * Remind us of God s faithfulness. * With his tenderness for the little ones, * the poor, and the sick, * He remains the Father who welcomes us into His arms, * the Good Shepherd who carries the wounded sheep on His shoulders, * the compassionate God who comforts the infirm. * In the midst of our suffering, * enable us to hear and accept the hope-filled invitation from your Grandson Jesus, * Come to me, all you who labor and are overburdened and I will give you rest. Good Saint Anne, Patroness of the sick, * lead us to your grandson, Jesus, * who heals both bodies and hearts, and who can make our suffering fruitful. AMEN. ( Petitions to St. Anne (Response: St. Anne, pray for us!) That we may live in accord with the will of God, our Father That we may love and follow Christ, our Savior and Master
7 That we may welcome the presence and work of the Holy Spirit That our love for Mary, your daughter, may be tender and sincere That we may remain faithful to the Church, the Body of Christ and grow in our love, tenderness, compassion and prayer... That with you, your beloved spouse Joachim, also with Mary and Joseph, as our models, may we learn to open our hearts to God always and live forever as members of His heavenly family That we may enjoy health, work, mutual understanding, forgiveness and true love That our prayer and devotion obtain for us the blessings we need and deepen our desire to follow the examples of your grandson, Jesus That, when Christ comes again, we may all be reunited in heavenly bliss
8 Devotional Prayer to St. Anne Good St. Anne, * I count on you to steer my life toward God * according to the Lord's plan for us. * I realize human life means nothing without God. * Whatever my past, * whatever my age, * however long my life may be, * I can always grow in my relationship with God. * It all begins and ends with prayer. * St. Anne, help my life to be a spiritual advancement, * a divine success! * Help me pray and work my way to everlasting life, * where I belong, in joy, * in perfect loyalty to Jesus * and loaded with ripe good works. * I can easily be ensnared * by life's trivial attractions and deceiving pleasures. * Help me, St. Anne, to never lose sight of the goal I seek...* Heaven, everlasting life. * Keep lending me a hand! Amen. St. Anne of the Sunset Catholic Church 850 Judah St. San Francisco, CA (415) *
