1 Important Notice Apex Blue CD for Pilatus PC 12 NG In an effort to improve the load time for the Blue CD in the Apex system, INDS introduces a new Blue CD update process using JSUM (Jeppesen Services Update Manager). JSUM is a free software application that is designed to simplify and expedite the data delivery and update process. With the added flexibility of JSUM, you will experience: Reduced loading times for the Blue CD database Loading time for the Blue CD database into the Apex system will reduce significantly whether you subscribe to Worldwide or smaller sub region coverage(s). The smaller your coverage area, the greater improvement you will experience in load times. Note: The loading time with the SD card for aircraft with Dual Charts display option activated with Build 7 will take longer than with Build 6 as the SD card can only load sequentially. If done via Remote terminal, the reduced loading time is not affected as both AGM s get loaded in parallel. Chart subsetting Within your coverage area, you have the option to define an even smaller region to update allowing you greater flexibility and even more improved load times. The following chart provides an example of loading time in various regions. This data represents load times with Build 7. Page 1 of 7

Basic fleet management (assign aircraft to subscription service) If you manage a fleet of aircraft, JSUM allows you the ability to assign the tail number (or label as you see fit) to distinguish and manage each aircraft subscription. This is certainly useful when the coverage region for each aircraft differs. Page 2 of 7

4 JSUM Software Instructions Prior to updating your Blue CD update using JSUM, you will need to install the JSUM software application to a PC. You will need to have administration rights on the PC to do so. Download the JSUM installer file from the following URL: In your browser click Download JSUM 2.2.7, and follow the onscreen instructions to install the program. For additional installation help, refer to any of the installation resources listed below the download link. Logging into JSUM To obtain a JSUM user name and password please call your INDS Account Manager at Option 1 (United States) or Option 1 (outside the United States). Once you receive your JSUM user name and password you can change your INDS password to match if you wish through the INDS website by logging in and clicking on My Account and Password. JSUM Reference Documentation It is recommended that you read through the JSUM QuickStart Guide prior to installing JSUM and updating services. To access the JSUM QuickStart Guide, go to: The JSUM QuickStart Guide covers only the basics of JSUM. Your primary source of guidance when using the application (including Honeywell Apex system specific information) is the online Help Guide. 5 Quick Steps to Update Your Blue CD database for Pilatus PC 12 NG Option 1: Update using Internet Download: Download and program new data to a CD using Jeppesen Services Update Manager (JSUM) and take the newly burned CD to your aircraft and update the Epic INAV AGM II and PCMCIA. You must be connected to the Internet and logged into JSUM before starting the download process. 1. Create a new folder on your PC (this is the location where JSUM will program the Blue CD contents) 2. Open JSUM on your computer. 3. In JSUM, select your chart service from the service list and click Start to download your full subscription coverage(s). To save time updating your Apex system, you can choose to subset your database by defining a smaller region by selecting Options in the upper toolbar, then Preferences. Under General Setup : Click on Terminal Charts on the left side of the screen. A new window will open like below: Page 5 of 7

6 Choose the radial button at the bottom of the screen Copy charts with selected area to media. Grab the anchors on the corners of the box to designate the area of your new coverage area. Click the Close button once you select your coverage area. Then select your chart service from the service list and click Start. 4. If you are going to load data via LAN TAP and download to on your computer, select Download> Update Hard Drive> Program Terminal Charts. Do not select Download > Save Terminal Charts to Hard Drive Only 5. Browse to and select the folder you created on your PC in step Click Continue. The selected data downloads to the local workstation hard drive. As the data saves, the status bar in the Download Progress column displays the percentage complete. When the download is complete, JSUM begins transferring the data to your specified folder. 7. When the success message appears, click the link to view alerts and notices about your data on Jeppesen.com. 8. If you plan on saving to the SD card, browse to and select the drive associated with your SD card. Page 6 of 7

7 9. Click Continue. The selected data downloads and programs the SD. 10. When the success message appears, click the link to view alerts and notices about your data on Jeppesen.com. 11. Disconnect the SD card from your PC and follow the SD card update procedure for Apex. Option 2: Update using Blue CD Received by Mail: In this case, JSUM will read direct from the Blue CD vs. the Internet. You must have logged into JSUM with Internet connectivity during the effective cycle in order to read from the Blue CD off line. This is necessary so that JSUM can verify your subscription status. 1. Create new folder on you PC (this is the location where JSUM will program the Blue CD contents) 2. Open JSUM on your computer. 3. Insert Blue CD into the CD ROM on your computer. 4. In JSUM, select your chart service from the service list and click Start. Repeat steps 3 11 above. Page 7 of 7
