6 Accommodation. The Royal Scots College Accommodation near the centre of Salamanca Accommodation is half board Pupils will be sharing in rooms of 2 & 3. Excellent facilities include swimming pool, tennis court, tv & games room, library, laundry College Chapel

9 Itinerary Day 1 Mon 5 th Coach departs St Ninian s 8.15am Coach arrival at College (Salamanca) approx 7.30pm / light snack / unpack quick orientation of the college building, fire evacuation procedures and rules of college, Dinner walk into Salamanca (Plaza Mayor). Ice cream at Café Novelty (1905, oldest of the cafes of Salamanca)

10 Itinerary Day 2 - Salamanca 10am Camino de Santiago (the way of St James) PowerPoint pres 11am join part of the pilgrimage which began in Seville near the ancient well, cross the Roman bridge, walk to Albergue de Peregrino (prilgrim hostel) gardens( Well of padlocks) Tour of historic centre old & new Cathedral Walk through Plaza de Anaya towards University Façade lunch -Plaza de Anaya pm - Free time in College. Swimming/tennis

11 Itinerary Day 3 La Alberca/La Peña de Francia depart college La Peña de Francia,(altitude 1700m) Bus takes us to the top of the mountain pm Bus to Hotel Abadia de los templarios 4*, just before we reach the village of La Alberca 3pm - La Alberca ( altitude 1000m) - small village which has been declared of historical interest. 4.30pm depart. 5.30pm arrive in college Mass Dinner Procession in evening

12 Itinerary Thursday the 8th September 2016 (which is the Feast of Our Lady's Birthday) is celebrated in Salamanca as its major feast day (Feast of 'La Virgen de la Vega'). The place will be very busy! However, there will probably also be a lot happening in town (concerts in the Plaza, maybe, food and drink stalls in the streets, processions and fireworks). It's a great time to be in Salamanca, Also as it falls on a Thursday, people might be throwing a "puente" on the Friday since the atmosphere would be great around the town around that time, especially the evening of the 7th, with the Procession in the early evening and fireworks at night.

13 Itinerary Peña de Francia on Wednesday 7th evening to see the Procession of Flowers and the statue of the Virgen de la Vega through the streets and Plaza Mayor to the Cathedral. It's got folkloric music, traditional dress, flowers, dancing and a load of spectacle. It passes through the town from around 6.30 or 7 until about 9.

14 Itinerary Day 4 Ávila/ Alba de Tormes 9am Depart College for Avila ( altitude 1200m) Mass in Convento de la Encarnación in Chapel of the Transverberation Museum of the Incarnation Museum of St. Teresa Convent of the Incarnation Bus to visitor centre (less than 5 minutes) Campanelo (Plaza corral de Campanas) Italian restaurant walk to Convento de Santa Theresa/ Casa Natal (Plaza de la Santa) then walk by Church of John the Baptist where St Theresa was baptized through Plaza to Cathedral / walls of Avila or Cathedral depart Avila - Stop at 4 posts for pictures Alba de Tormes village where St Teresa died and is buried leave Alba de Tormes- bus to Santa Marta de Tormes -45 mins for shopping.

15 Itinerary Day 5 - Madrid 08:00 Mass 08:30 Breakfast 09:30 depart Salamanca for Madrid Check in hotel Gran Via 12:00 Estadio Santiago Bernabéu Cathedral/Royal Palace etc Shopping Evening Meal Puerta del sol

17 Itinerary Day 6 Early wake up 06:30 hrs 08:00 hrs Coach to Airport. Check in 09:00 hrs 11:40 Flight departs (terminal 1) Arrive at School 3.00pm Saturday 10 th September

18 Travelling Easyjet The group will be flying to Madrid (Barajas) from Edinburgh airport and vice versa. Checked baggage allowance 20kg Carry on allowance may not be any larger than 56x45x25cm (including wheels, pockets and handles). Easyjet reserve the right to place any Cabin Baggage in the hold which is bigger than 50x40x20cm (including handles, pockets and wheels) All members of the group must adhere to security procedures Bring along something for eating when travelling.

20 Medical Matters & Dietary Requirements Pupils on medication must ensure they bring spare. Epi pens and Insulin being brought in carry- on luggage must be supported by a doctors letter for airport security. Travel sickness La Alberca If there are any special dietary requirements please tell a member of staff this evening

21 Packing the essentials. Comfortable footwear We will be doing a lot of walking. Cover Up Some of the attractions we will visit will not permit entry with bare shoulders or legs. A light water proof coat At this time of year there can be shower bursts. Sun Cream The weather will be warm and sunny. Own towel for pool La Alberca

22 Pocket Money groups. Spending Money Maximum 160 pounds in Euros sealed envelope Envelopes will be collected when we arrive in Salamanca Keep some sterling for the airport etc Money distributed at set times College has a safe Convento de San Esteban, Salamanca

23 Safety Majority of trip we stay as a group Pupil free time is controlled regular check in All pupils are with someone not allowed to be alone Mobile numbers pupils / staff When we arrive in Salamanca on the first day we will encourage your son/daughter to send a text Remember no news is good news If you need to contact me, call the school and they will reach me.
