2 1. Intrductin Main Switch is an electrnic switch designed primarily fr switching f the main pwer supply fr an RC mdel. It adds an element f safety when handling the mdel, withut the need t physically discnnect the mdel s batteries. A big advantage f electrnic switches in cmparisn t mechanical switches is, in general, their higher reliability as far as vibratin resistance is cncerned. Anther advantage f the electrnic switch is its ability t withstand an unlimited number f switching cycles. Electrnic switches have n mving parts like cntacts which wuld be wrn ut during the switching prcesses, therefre their lngevity is extremely high. Mrever, they are nt prne t spntaneus and unexpected false tripping with knwn disastrus effects. Last but nt least, electrnic switches ffer a much lwer inherent transient resistance in cmparisn t mechanical switches. The Main Switch prevents the cnnectrs frm sparking when cnnecting the batteries, thus it can als replace Anti Spark plugs. The Main Switch is shipped with a magnetic switch. The magnetic switch instructins can be fund n the manufacturer s website. It is als pssible t use the ptinal RC Switch instead f the magnetic switch. The Main Switch is primarily designed fr switching the main pwer supply f the RC mdels, but can als be used in applicatins where switching a DC pwer supply is needed. 2. Cnnectin The pwer supply is cnnected t the Main Switch using tw input wires with crss sectins f 6 r 8mm 2. The utput vltage is available at tw cables with crss sectins f 6 r 8mm 2. The utput three-wire cable with the JR cnnectr is used fr telemetry data transmissin. The utput three-pin cnnectr is used t cnnect the supplied magnetic switch r the RC Switch. The Main Switch cnnects and discnnects the negative ple -, the + ple is always cnnected and is never discnnected! Fig. 1: Cnnectin f input and utput cables Be sure t cnnect the pwer supply wires crrectly; always cnnect the red cable t the + ple f the accumulatr, the black cable t the ple f the accumulatr. Pay attentin when cnnecting utputs and inputs, they must nt be swapped. Failure t fllw these requirements may result in irreversible damage t the Main Switch!! Only cnnect batteries t the input IN and cnnect speed cntrllers, receivers, servs etc. t the utput OUT. -2-

3 Befre switching n the electrnic switch yu shuld always cnnect the batteries first and nly afterwards switch n the system using the magnetic switch r the RC Switch. Fllw this rule als fr the switching ff prcedure. Switch the system ff first and discnnect the batteries nly afterwards. 2.1 Cnnectin f the Main Switch The Main Switch measures the battery current and the vltage. If yu d nt need t get telemetry infrmatin frm the Main Switch, yu d nt have t cnnect the Ext. utput. If yu DO want t display then the telemetry the Main Switch Ext. utput must be cnnected t the Ext. Duplex receiver input. This als pwers the measurement part f the Main Switch. Fig. 2: Blck diagram f the Main Switch The grund (-) f the Main Switch Ext. is islated. D nt cnnect the grund (-) f Magnetic switch / RC Switch t the utput grund f the Main Switch (-OUT). 2.2 Charging f the battery The battery can be charged while cnnected t the Main Switch (be sure that the Main Switch is in the ff state the green LED is ff), but d nt attempt t discnnect the battery while charging. The charging vltage is t be cnnected directly t the battery (alternatively, t the battery thrugh the switch input), but never cnnect charging vltage t the switch utput!! If it becmes necessary t discnnect the battery, discnnect the charging vltage first!! Failure t fllw these basic rules can destry the Main Switch!! -3-

4 3. Installatin Fig. 3: Charging the battery The Main Switch can be installed in mdels by taking advantage f munting hles with rubber grmmets that prevent vibratin transfer. The input and utput wire cnnectins must be adequately dimensined fr the size f the transmitted current. The cnnectrs and the cnnecting wires used must be sufficiently large t transfer the required current. The G5.5 cnnectrs are recmmended fr the current f up t 100A, fr the current f up t 200A use the G8 cnnectrs. 4. Telemetry The Main Switch can measure the vltage, current, cnsumed capacity f the battery cnnected in the mdel and als the Main Switch temperature. Alarms can be set t mnitr maximum current, minimum vltage, maximum cnsumed capacity, and maximum temperature. -4-

5 Use the JETIBOX r the DC/DS transmitters frm JETI mdel (in the JETIBOX emulatr) fr parameter adjustment and data readut. After the JETIBOX is cnnected t the Main Switch, the sensr identificatin is shwn and in the secnd line als the preadjusted actual measured data. By a lng push f buttn R (right) a fast deletin f all measured data can be triggered (min. and max. vltage, max. current, average current, runtime, capacity). Fast deletin is indicated in the first line f the display by an asterisk *. MENU: ACT. VALUES Vlt. / Current displays actual measured vltage and current passing thrugh the switch. By simultaneusly pushing arrws R and L (right and left) the zer value f the sensr current is calibrated. The actual measured current value is added t the zer current display, i.e. the s called zer shift. Capacity shws the actual cnsumed capacity. Run Time shws the ttal time f current passage thrugh the switch. Included is als the time when the current has exceeded the adjusted current value Start Trigger in the SETTING menu. Temperature shws the current temperature f the Main Switch. MENU: MIN / MAX Display f extreme vltages and currents that ccurred during the measurement. The extreme recrdings are deleted autmatically r can be deleted in the menu SETTING Erase Data. Autmatic deletin ccurs when the switch has just been cnnected t the vltage supply and the current, as set in the menu Setting-Start Trigger, is exceeded. If after cnnectin f the switch the set current is nt exceeded, values f the previus switch peratin will be displayed. U MIN / MAX Shws the minimum and maximum value f the measured vltage. I AVG / MAX Shws the average value f the measured current and its maximum. Temperature MIN/MAX Shws the minimum and maximum perating temperature f the Main Switch since the last reset. MENU: SETTING basic setting f the switch Start Trigger setup f a current value, at which after switch cnnectin, the recrding f values like minimum, maximum and current transit time starts. If the adjusted value is 0A, values will be recrded immediately after the cnnectin f the switch t its pwer supply and reading the data f the previus peratin will nt be pssible. Erase Data by pushing arrws R and L (right and left) simultaneusly the recrds f measured parameters will be deleted. First Parameter adjustment f the display f the first parameter in the JETIBOX LCD, which is shwn in the secnd line f the basic switch menu (the first line shws the identificatin, fr instance MS 200) Secnd Parameter adjustment f the display f the secnd parameter in the JETIBOX LCD, which is shwn in the secnd line f the basic sensr menu (the first line shws the identificatin, fr instance MS 200) Aut. Erase This functin f autmatic data deletin after verstepping the trigger level can be activated r deactivated. MENU: ALARMS setting f individual alarms. If ne f the adjusted parameters becmes exceeded, the JETIBOX LCD will in the secnd line f the basic menu alternately shw the riginal display with the pertinent alarm and the transmitter mdule siren will emit an acustic alarm. The first tne is a revelatin signal and the secnd ne is signaling a Mrse cde character f the relevant alarm. If the alarm is set t OFF, this kind f alarm will be switched ff. -5-

6 Vltage Alarm (alarm U..- ) adjustment f the value f vltage signaling. If the measured vltage decreases beynd the set value, the vltage alarm U will be activated. Current Alarm (alarm I.. ) adjustment f the value f current signaling. If the measured current increases beynd the set value, the current alarm I will be activated. Capacity Alarm (alarm C -.-. ) adjustment f the signaling value f cnsumed capacity. If the adjusted value f maximum cnsumed capacity is exceeded, alarm C will be activated. Temperature Alarm (alarm T - ) adjustment f the value f high temperature signaling fr the Main Switch device. If the measured temperature exceeds 85 C, the high temperature alarm will be activated. MENU: SERVICE by pressing buttn D (arrw dwn) yu will change the display t shw the firmware versin and t renewal f the switch default setting. Factry Defaults by simultaneus pressing f arrws R and L (right and left) the factry settings f the Main Switch are laded. M200 v. xx.xx ID xxxxx:xxxxx prduct marking with firmware versin and series number (ID). Particular phases f current measurement A when after switching n the current did nt exceed the set value Start Trigger. Measured values (U MIN / MAX, I AVG / MAX, Capacity, Run Time) crrespnd with measured values f the previus peratin. B the value Start Trigger has been exceeded. Fig. 4: Phases f current measurement Previus measured values (U MIN / MAX, I AVG / MAX, Capacity, Run Time) will be deleted and actualized by the actual measurement curse. C the set current has been exceeded and the current alarm has been activated. D the measured current decreased beynd the set alarm value, alarm will be cut ff. The measured current decreased beynd the set level Start Trigger. The timer Run Time is switched ff. Recrding f extremes and cnsumed capacity cntinuus. 5. Update The Main Switch allws updating f its firmware via PC. Updating is dne using the JETI USB adapter. Prcedure: Find the prgram t update t the latest firmware n the manufacturer s website under Dwnlads. Save it t yur cmputer. Cnnect the USB adapter t yur cmputer. The prcedure f installing the drivers fr the USB adapter is included in the USB adapter manual. Run the firmware update n yur PC. Cnnect the USB adapter t the Main Switch (Ext. utput) using a three-wire cable. -6-

Warranty, service This prduct is cvered by warranty fr 24 mnths after the day f purchase prvided that it has been perated in accrdance with these instructins at the specified vltage and is nt mechanically damaged. When claiming warranty repairs fr the prduct, always attach a prf f purchase. Warranty and pst-warranty service is prvided by yur dealer r the manufacturer.
