4 PAYMENT Closing date for course enrolment 1st September 2015 Forms received after the 1st September 2015 will be processed at the discretion of Chartered Accountants Ireland Any enrolments received after the 1st September 2015 are subject to a late fee of 100/ 70 Chartered Accountants Ireland has a single all-inclusive fee covering registration, educational courses and examination fees (1st attempt), all books, study materials and access to on-line resources at each stage. The amount of each installment will be listed on the installment payment plan application form available from studentqueries@charteredaccountants.ie OR I have attached a cheque made payable to Chartered Accountants Ireland Withdrawal from the programme: Students who withdraw from the CAP1/CAP2 programme before 31st October 2015 and return any course materials that have been provided to them in a saleable condition will be entitled to a full refund less 100/ 70. Students who withdraw before 31st December 2015 are eligible for a refund of 50% of course fees. Students withdrawing after 31st December 2015 are not eligible for any refund of fees paid. Deferral of your studies to a subsequent year cannot be facilitated. Please note, refunds are only applicable where full course fees has been received

5 EXAMINATIONS You will be entered automatically in the examination for the combination of subjects you have selected for your course enrolment. The Examination Department will issue a letter of admission to the examination approximately 3 weeks before the examination session. Details of Chartered Accountants Ireland examination regulations can be downloaded from IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING PROGRESSION WITH YOUR EXAMINATIONS: The Double Entry Bookkeeping (DEBK) Assessment is a computer based test of your Double Entry Bookkeeping skills. It is the interim assessment element of the CAP1 Financial Accounting Programme. All students taking Financial Accounting at CAP1 must pass the DEBK assessment in advance of sitting any CAP1 exams. Recognised Experience for Qualification (REQ) Every person being admitted to membership of the Institute is required to complete a specified period of Recognised Experience. The length of the period will depend on the student s educational background and will form a vital element in the formation of the Chartered Accountant. Such relevant experience will complement and support the formal educational programme and assessment and will be a valuable basis for later career development. CA Diary of Professional Development Candidates training under the Flexible Option can acquire their (REQ) concurrently with their CA studies or alternatively after completion of their studies or a combination of both. Students will be required to record their experience on the Institute s CA Diary of Professional Development. Students registered to the Flexible Option Route B are required to evidence a minimum of 1 year s relevant work experience on the CA Diary prior to presenting for the Final Admitting Examination (FAE). I am not currently securing Recognised Experience for Qualification (REQ) (In order to ensure recognition of experience, I will notify Chartered Accountants Ireland of my employer details when I commence securing REQ) I am currently securing Recognised Experience for Qualification. 6 DUBLIN TIMETABLE STRUCTURES In Dublin, students may choose from two groups, each with a different timetable structure. Students should enrol on the group that will best facilitate regular attendance at lectures. All groups will commence in October 2015 and end in early May Each course will cover the same content in the same sequence. All timetables are front-loaded to facilitate those sitting the Double Entry Bookkeeping Assessment as part of CAP1 Financial Accounting. All classes take place in CA House, Pearse Street, Dublin 2. Dublin Evening & Weekend This group will have an equal combination of evening and weekend classes. Weekend classes will be scheduled from 09:30 16:30. Evening classes will take place from 18:30 21:30. While allowing for the front-loading of some lectures, the timetable attempts to give students breaks between lectures. Dublin Block Release Programme Blocks will run Saturday, Sunday, Monday for CAP1 and Friday, Saturday, Sunday for CAP2. These blocks will be alternated with normal weekend lectures (Saturday, Sunday) throughout the year. There will be no evening lectures for this group. We will offer certain additional workshops and tutorials in the evenings. Distance Programme Distance students will be offered a blended approach of online study and monthly weekend lectures in Dublin or Belfast. The lectures will be actively tailored to facilitate students who are studying online. These contact days will explore topics covered in the online sessions, work through exam questions, and provide an opportunity for you to ask questions. The sessions will also prepare you for the upcoming topics to be viewed online. Videos of c.45 minutes and the Learning Journals will give students great flexibility in how they approach their study. Discussion groups and Student Services support will be there to guide you towards your qualification. Continued participation on the distance programme will be reliant on candidates adequately completing the preparatory work prior to each lecture day. Due to the different pace that each group will progress during the year, it will not be possible to facilitate students moving between groups.
