2 Laurie Duncan Shaw (2 of 5) Funding Proposals Precision Modeling for Sunyaev-Zel dovich surveys, NSF Extragalactic Astronomy and Cosmology Program, $717,204, (PI: D. Nagai, Yale) Observing Proposals Measuring the kinetic SZ signal from Reionization Awarded 79 hours of Herschel time to map 100 deg 2 at priority 1 (PI: J. Carlstrom, Chicago), 2010 The SPT-Spitzer Deep Field Awarded time to survey 100 deg 2 with Spitzer (PI: S. Stanford, UC Davis), 2011 IRAC Imaging of SPT Clusters Awarded time to observe 84 high-redshift clusters (PI: M. Brodwin, CfA), 2009 Professionol Activities Referee, ApJ, MNRAS, A&A, JCAP Student Supervision Pearson Miller, Yale Undergrad I currently supervise Pearson, who is working with me investigating spatial correlations between the cosmic infrared background and the thermal SZ signal. Camille Avestruz, Yale Grad During 2009 I supervised Camille on her project to develop source-extraction algorithms for detecting clusters via their thermal SZ signal. Adele Plunkett, Yale Grad supervised Adele for her graduate theory project. For this project, Adele helped apply a semi-analytic model for the intra-cluster medium to clusters identified in an N-body simulation and compared the results to those from hydrodynamical simulations. Nathalie Ouellette, McGill undergrad co-supervised summer student Nathalie Ouellette for her research project, which involved running and analysing cosmological simulations with the RAMSES hydrodynamics code. Teaching Experience and Student Supervision Lecturing, Covering lecturer for Prof. Tracey Webb and Prof. Gil Holder lecturing second and third year undergraduate courses Introduction to Astrophysics & Classical Mechanics. Supervisor, Part 1A Mathematics, undergraduate Natural Sciences, Cambridge, Topics: algebra and calculus of both scalar and vector functions, ordinary and partial differential equations, Fourier series, matrices, complex numbers, statistics and elementary computational techniques. Observing Experience NTT, EMMI, identification of planetary nebulae in galaxy NGC 5128 using narrow band on/off imaging of the O3 emission line.
