Background: Today, the idea of people with a disability being able to participate in sport and physical activity is not so uncommon. In many countries, opportunities exist from the grassroots to elite levels for people with a disability to showcase their abilities in sport and physical activity. But this is not the case in all parts of the world. Whilst there has been progressive and positive change in quality of life for people with disabilities in many developed countries, often this progress is not reflected in developing countries. In this scenario, National Physical Disabled Table Tennis Association was established by young disabled sport leaders to create the better opportunity for all people with disabilities by using the Table Tennis with an aim of introducing & popularizing the table tennis games by using it as one of the effective tools of advocacies, awareness and competitive sports of disabled people. About us: National Physical Disabled Table Tennis Association, Nepal (NPDTTAN) is a non-profitable sport organization of disabled people with an aim of introducing & popularizing the table tennis games by using it as one of the effective tools of advocacies, awareness and competitive sports of disabled people. Goal: Our goal is to eliminate fear and prejudice for those who perceived disabled people as different, by creating opportunity to play together by enhancing the self-esteem of PWDs with help of Table Tennis, by establishing Para-TT as one of the best tolls of advocacies, awareness, competitive, entertaining, and healthy sport of Disabled People for all age and ability both national and international level.

Some of Our Organizational activities: 1. National Open Para-TT Championship: Each year with financial assistance of Nepal s Government Ministry of Youth and Sports National Physical Disabled Table Tennis Association, Nepal (NPDTTAN) organized National Open Para-TT Championship. Each year the numbers of participants are increasing with much more skill and energy. This year there were 70 participants from all around country. It was categories similar to international classification (T1 to T10) system. The event was founded by Nepal s Government Ministry of Youth and Sport with some technical support from Nepal Sport council of Nepal. At the end of the program the chef guest, secretary general of National Sport Council Mr. Yuvraj Lama appreciated the organization's effort to make the event successful. He further promised to increase the budget in future and committed to make sport s infrastructure disabled friendly in his future strategic plan.
2. Para-TT Training: Training plays vital role for every player and it is even more important for people with disabilities living in different physical and emotional conditions. Taking this issue very seriously, we are running the regular training for people with disabilities of different age with international classification. Especial focus has given to girls with disabilities and children with disabilities. We have 10 girls with different age groups, 10 children with disabilities and 10 young players are regular on training every day. It is always tough for every coach to train the people with disabilities. In order to overcome this challenge we always search for opportunity to train our trainers from professional people. Currently we have 4 qualified coaches, ITTF-PTT Level1 licensed holder, NS licensed holder, disability sport coach trained in Japan and one Junior coach responsible for training of Para-TT. 7 3. Para-TT campaign in schools: In the Nepal, the needs of PWD have been either neglected or ignored just due to a general lack of awareness. People generally do have poor image towards disability, and in schools, disabled children do not have an access towards sporting activities just because nobody knows about the value, importance and the possibilities to involve the disabled student and its benefit. This campaign aims to fulfill the needs of PWD by involving them in programs/activities that will develop their confidence, well-being, and sense of community by using the Table Tennis as tools for advocacies and awareness. School is the first and the most important learning place for children to shape their mind in positive way that would further help to create positive image towards disability. It also will raise awareness to the public to ensure that the needs of PWDs are not neglected. We as organization trying to tap this opportunity through the medium of Table Tennis by exploring the inherent hidden talent of PWDs in the schools and the colleges where we can find relatively fresh mind who do have talent/potentiality to create society that would more friendly to people with disability in future.
4. Accept the Challenge! Motivation, inspiration, and great expose are key factors for success of every player. In order to do those, our organization organize one big unofficial event every Saturday where the best player could get a great chance to show their talent and skills in the presence of big crowd. Our organization manages such kind s events every Saturday. This kind of event not only giving the good opportunity for players only who want to show their skill and talents but also providing the common platform for all the sport leaders to discuss about the sport development activities according to the needs necessity of the community and to develop friendship between newcomers who loves sports. (General Secretary of National Sport Council Mr. Youraj Lama distributing the Prizes to Winners) This campaign is being helpful to raise some found from local VIP for training and organizational other other activities in order to provide sufficient platform to ParaTT players so that their confidence and skill would improve parallel. On this occasion, organization generally invites professional coach, and proved them an opportunity how it like to train/ interact ParaTT players in professional and friendly manners.
The major activities as of 2013 June 30th The project "Development of sports for the persons with disability in Nepal : National Disabled Table Tennis Association-Nepal succeed to develop the official relationship with Danish Sports Organization for the Disabled (DSOD) and actively working as the part of the project Development of sports for the persons with disability in Nepal with their main partner Spinal Cord Injury Sport Association. As the part of the project nearly 20 senior Para TT payers got four days workshop training by Danish National Para TT player named Mr Asger Lind Krebs. As part of the project NDTTAN got 2 Table Tennis boards, some project. racquets, balls nets and small grant for regular training of the players. The grant is being used to cover the transportation charge for trainer and to buy the necessary sporting equipments of training like balls, nets and racquets. After the success of the project, DSOD, is interested to lunch another very big project for 5 years. If that happened NDTTAN would also be one of the partners of this project. So, as organization we are very much hopeful and excited for the long term Advocacy and Awareness Campaign activities in Schools: From annual grand of Nepal Government ministry of youth and Sport NPDTTA is conducting various creative activities annually. This year program was divided into two parts. In first part, we organized one month intensive training for 25 young Para-TT athletes by local as well as professional coaches. After that training, the outstanding players selected from one month training were given a very good opportunity to play with their able-body opponents in School. NPDTTA is organizing this kind of event in school as part of organization regular mission of advocacy, awareness and socializing campaign. This kind of
campaign is not only being helpful to create an opportunity for para- athletes to show their hidden talent and skill with their able body friends but also being equally helpful to prove that them that Disability is not Inability! This type of program was highly appreciated by the representative of Ministry of youth and Sport, Nepal Sport Council, Nepal Paralympic Committee, representative from Civil Society, NGOs and INGOs representative. The organization got huge support from School administration and also showed their deeper interest to include it as part of school annual activities. Interschool Open Table Tennis Competition: This year NPDTTAN organized the first open interschool tournament on the occasion of celebrating 40 th anniversary of establishment of SOS children Village in Nepal., There were 50 participants of 10 Schools. The event was opened to both disabled and nondisabled participants to allow our Para -TT players a chance to compete on higher level and to spread the message of our right to play. With our positive acceptation most of our Para-TT players own the titles. The program was chaired by National director of SOS Children Village Nepal and the venue was the community Hall of Nepal Disabled Table Tennis Association. The whole tournaments was supported and jointly organized with SOS Children Village Jorpati.
5. Event Participation : This year one of our player who is also supporting as junior coach won the Jorpati VDC Open Table Tennis Championship organized by Jorpati VDC. Our Trusted Partners to whom we have already worked with: We are all able!
