To be considered for employment, applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications: Must be 18 years of age, possess a high school diploma or GED, possess a valid drivers license, honorable discharge (if prior military), and have no adverse driving record, extensive criminal history or felony convictions. The hiring process includes but is not limited to the following: passing a computerized test CritiCall, background investigation, oral interview and, following a conditional job offer medical examination, drug screen and hearing test. 2 Salary Structure Each new trainee will start as a (COIT) Communications Officer in Training; COIT s will progress through the training program being trained to function at every position in the E-911 center. Entry Level $27, $ per hour The Cherokee County E-911 salary structure is tied to the Training Program. As you complete the different phases of training once you have completed all radios groups. The annual salary will be $31, $14.91 per hour. Required Certifications 40 hours P.O.S.T. Communication Officer Course. 40 (EMD) Emergency Medical Dispatch Course CPR certification GCIC Certification GCIC S&I Security and Integrity Theses certifications are required for continued employment with Cherokee County E-911. Cherokee County will schedule all classes and training. Some classes will be taught at the E-911 Center and while others will require travel, possible overnight. Work Schedule Communication Officers are assigned to a specific shift, working 7:00am - 7:00 pm or 7:00 pm - 7:00 am. The basic work schedule for all Communication Officers covers a 2-week cycle. The schedule is: Week 1 Week 2 Monday and Tuesday - On Wednesday and Thursday - Off Friday Sunday - On Monday and Tuesday- Off Wednesday and Thursday - ON Friday Sunday Off Communications officer assigned to a shift works all holiday occurring on their assigned shift. When a Communication Officer works every assigned shift during the 2-week cycle, he/she will earn 76 regular hours and 9 hrs of overtime.
