3 3. Z-Axis Assembly. Attach the Z Limit Switch Assembly (#3) to the Limit Switch Mount Z (#6) using two #2-56 screws (#3) and nuts (#4). Ensure you orient the switch using photos #5 & #6 below. Photo #5 Photo #6 2. Attach the Limit Switch Mount Z (#6) to the travel stops on the Shapeoko 3 X-axis carriage plate with the two #0-24 button head cap screws (#8). 3. Screw a 4mm nut (#20) onto one of the 4mm button head cap screws (#9) until it is just under the head. Insert the 4mm button head cap screw into the Z Limit Actuator Mount and screw a second 4mm nut onto the end of the bolt. See photo #7 below. Photo #7 Page 3 of 0

4 4. Insert a 5mm button head cap screw (#5) through the Shapeoko 3 Z-axis carriage plate from the back. You can do this without removing the plate if you use a needle nose pliers. Place the Z Limit Actuator Mount over the 5mm screw and fasten with a 5mm nut (#6). Ensure the head of the 4mm screw is facing upwards. See photo #8. Photo #8 Photo #9 Ref. Page 4 of 0

5 4. X-Axis Assembly. Lay out the X Limit Switch Assembly (the one with the straight leads coming off the switches) with one each of the Limit Switch Mount LH and Limit Switch Mount RH as shown in photos #0 and #. Attach the limit switches to the mounts using two #2-56 screws (#3) and nuts (#4) each. Photo #0 Photo # 2. Using one 5mm button head cap screw (#5) and 5mm nut (#6) per side, bolt the limit switch mounts to the Shapeoko 3 X-axis carriage plate as shown in photos #2 and #3, one on each side. 6 3. For each X Limit Actuator Mount (#7 & #8), screw a 4mm nut (#20) onto one of the 4mm button head cap screws (#9) until it is just under the head. Insert the 4mm button head cap screw into the X Limit Actuator Mount and screw a second 4mm nut onto the end of the bolt. Ensure that the head of the bolt is on the side opposite the X mark. See photo #4 below. Photo #4 4. If not already assembled, insert one 3mm x 6mm bushing (#2) into the 3mm hole in each X Limit Actuator Mount LH & RH (#7& #8). 5. Remove one 6mm bolt from the Shapeoko 3 Y-axis carriage plate and replace with one 6mm x 8 button head cap screw (#7), one /2 washer (#2) and the X Limit Actuator Mount assembly. See photos #5 and #6. Ensure you get the correct X Limit Actuator Mount on each side so that the head of the 4mm button head cap screw strikes the lever of the limit switch. The 3mm x 6mm bushing will allow you to tighten the replacement 6mm button head cap screw to the same torque as the others. Photo #5 Photo #6 Page 6 of 0

7 5. Y-Axis Assembly. Lay out the Y Limit Switch Assembly (the one with the angled leads coming off the switches) with one each of the Limit Switch Mount LH and Limit Switch Mount RH as show in photos #7 and #8. Attach the limit switches to the mounts using two #2-56 screws (#3) and nuts (#4) each. Photo #7 Photo #8 2. Using one 5mm button head cap screw (#5) and 5mm nut (#6) per side, bolt the limit switch mounts to the right hand Shapeoko 3 Y-axis carriage plate as shown in photo #9, one on each side. The wires are not long enough to reach from the left hand plate. Photo #9 Page 7 of 0

8 3. For each Y Limit Actuator Mount (#9 & #0), screw a 4mm nut (#20) onto one of the 4mm button head cap screws (#9) until it is just under the head. Insert the 4mm button head cap screw into the X Limit Actuator Mount and screw a second 4mm nut onto the end of the bolt. See photo #20 below. Photo #20 4. If not already assembled, insert one 3mm x 6mm bushing (#2) into the 3mm hole in each Y Limit Actuator Mount LH & RH (#7& #8). 5. On each end of the right hand rail remove one 6mm bolt from the Shapeoko 3 end plate and replace with one 6mm x 8 button head cap screw (#7), one /2 washer (#2) and the Y Limit Actuator Mount assembly. See photos #2 and #22. Ensure you get the correct Y Limit Actuator Mount on each side so that the head of the 4mm button head cap screw strikes the lever of the limit switch. The 3mm x 6mm bushing will allow you to tighten the replacement 6mm button head cap screw to the same torque as the others. Photo #2 Photo #22 Page 8 of 0

9 6. Enabling Limit Switches and Homing Launch your g-code streamer of choice (Carbide Motion, Universal G-Code Sender, etc) and set the following parameters: $2= (hard limits, bool) $22= (homing cycle, bool) Congratulations! You can now enter $H and run the homing cycle. The other options related to homing are: $23=0 (homing dir invert mask: ) $24= (homing feed, mm/min) $25= (homing seek, mm/min) $26=25 (homing debounce, msec) $27=5.000 (homing pull-off, mm) If you have questions about homing, please check the Shapeoko wiki and forum. You should adjust all the limit switch stops so that the switches close just before the machine reaches the travel limit. This will prevent the carriage plates from banging into the hard stops. Make sure you tighten all the nuts so the stops don't vibrate out of adjustment. Page 9 of 0
