Short presentation by Marius Grønning, president of the Norsk bolig- og byplanforening (Norsk BOBY), which is the Norwegian association for housing and planning founded in Norsk BOBY is currently facing challenges and is reinterpreting its role. IFHP needs to change the game to ensure future impact and maintain the strong profile of the federation. How can we as IFHP Council support the implementation of the business plan s key performance indicators (KPIs) and actions? 3 Time: IFHP openings in Europe Although planning is not a European Union competence, Europe interacts in all city and spatial planning and housing decision making. European partners can be decisive in transnational and local development. How for IFHP to influence, shape and benefit from this. Discussion introduced by Anne-Marie Chavanon & Diane Smith. Time: Coffee break and further exchange of views on the role and expertise for IFHP in EU. Time: IFHP Council Summit part II - Ongoing Council participation To better inform the IFHP Business Plan, the IFHP Office conducted member and stakeholder surveys (summarized in IFHP Business Plan annexes). Both surveys indicate regular and local IFHP presence is necessary to keep IFHP visible and relevant to its members and partners. Council members have an elevated status in the IFHP structure that puts them on the front line of both receiving and contributing the best of the institution. This session will focus on how Council members can support IFHP to develop and grow. The agenda for this session includes: Activities as Council member for IFHP Sweden/Nordic By Council member Bo Aronsson, Senior Advisor, RiverCity Gothenburg Inspiration & actions for IFHP Spain and what support it requires By Council member Carlos Zarzo Hamma, architect, former technical manager at the Regional Government of Madrid, Department of Town Planning and Territorial Strategies An interactive part following up on Council members increased presence in IFHP matters, based on the items raised in the questionnaire sent out prior to the summit: 1. Exploring a more active involvement of Council members 2. Specific Council member contributions (in addition to attending the annual meeting) 3. Matching IFHP needs with Council member interests and initiatives. Board member Arun Jain will moderate this session. 3/7

Presentation by Pierre Mansat, President of the Atelier International du Grand Paris, former deputy mayor of Paris, and the current project manager of the "Grand Paris" at the City of Paris, Didier Bertrand. COFHUAT invites us to visit two prominent development projects in one of the emblematic refurbishment zones north of Paris at La Courneuve: Cité des 4000 and l'usine de Cordes. Both conducted by FIAC, a COFHUAT member created in 1928 and owner of 4000 social housing in Paris and the inner suburbs. La cité des 4000, the area of La Tour The gigantic Cité des 4000, built in the 1960s to host slum dwellers and workers, both French and migrants, became quite a challenged neighbourhood. The area was therefore taken as a starting point for an ambitious urban renewal project in the late 1980 s. In this area it began in The process was a trauma for older residents and most welcome by younger ones. The act of destroying homes and basis for living gives the feeling of loss of a past, of history, of sense of coherence. The renewal project focused on the desire to give every family a specific and easily identifiable place to live. Today, "it is a success": the supply of housing, the revitalization of La Tour Shopping Centre and the creation of a centre of economic activities in the space left by the destroyed giant bar Renoir allowed the construction of small collective housing and a pole of economic development hosting a business incubator and a school of second chance. FIAC points out that the quality of the renewal project is recognized by all partners and especially the people themselves. Life is quiet and safe. The people are attached to the place and carefully preserve their environment. Les Cordes FIAC will also present an inspiring operation: l usine Babolat, an ancient fabric of ropes transformed into 99 social housing, and 19 cooperative housing. 6/7
