This document provides technical guidance for configuring the ShoreTel IP PBX (Voice Switch) Series appliances to properly interface to and interoperate with the Integra SIP Solutions trunks. It is not intended to serve as a step-by-step configuration guide. The goal of this document is to ensure that when properly configured the IP PBX appliances will interoperate with Integra s SIP-based equipment and network. In order to establish a configuration and compatibility baseline, Table 1 below shows the software and/or firmware versions used for testing and evaluation in the Integra Lab. Table 1 Software & Firmware Versions Tested Network Element Version Metaswitch Call Feature Server V8.2.02, SU21, P90.01 Ingate SIParator Model ShoreTel Voice Switch , Build The Integra Universal Access (UA) IP PBX nominal deployment configuration is shown in Figure 1 below. The UA model prescribes that the SIP handoff to the SIParator and ultimately to the Voice Switch 90 is on Port 2 of the Ethernet Access Device or EAD. This configuration ensures proper SIP call handling between the customer-provided appliances and the Integra equipment and network. 4 Figure 2, below, shows the overall connectivity when the Ingate SIParator is positioned in front of the ShoreTel IP PBX appliance, Note that this is a mandatory requirement at this time and ShoreTel firmware load. Figure 2 Ingate SIParator and ShoreTel Voice Switch 90 Configuration PSTN Metaswitch Call Agent Oracle SBC WAN w Adtran EAD LAN Ingate SIParator ShoreTel VS90 Note that some schools of thought like to consider everything outside of or beyond the IP PBX itself to be part of the PSTN. For this testing, the beginning of the PSTN does not matter; as in to and out of the IP PBX are the more important considerations. 2

It is presumed that there is direct knowledge and expertise or that knowledge and expertise is readily available for the ShoreTel Voice Switch series appliances. Therefore, this section contains the data fill for the various configuration pages when using the ShoreTel Voice Switch and the Ingate SIParator appliances. The configuration is addressed below in basic navigation-menu order. There is no consideration given to element/object dependencies or provisioning hierarchy. The information provided is strictly the data fill needed for interoperation. Finally, this document only covers the appliance configuration from the SIP side to and from Integra. There is no discussion about: the customer-facing PRI configuration; internal (LAN) IP addressing and/or routing; extension configuration; internal call routing, classes of service, and the like. Those items vary widely by customer deployment and are outside the scope of this document. The following is a mini legend of the configuration parameters that are detailed within this document. Mandatory Integra Provided Entry The red outline boxes indicate that the information is mandatory as provided by Integra. This includes specific SIP settings, data fill, as well as detailed account information as provided by Integra. Optional Customer Defined Entry The blue outline boxes signify that the customer selects the desired provisioning data fill. Examples include: private IP addresses and user-friendly object names for easier provisioning. 3

Section 1: Physical Connections SIParator and IP PBX The Ingate SIParator device connects between the LAN: containing the ShoreTel IP PBX and soft switch platform and the Integra provided Adtran EAD. Integra will provide the appropriate port number on the EAD for the WAN connection. There are many models of SIParator available. Both the Ethernet port count and location vary by model number and age of hardware. However, the key to proper Layer 1 connectivity is as follows. SIParator Eth0 connects to the LAN containing the IP PBX (LAN). SIParator Eth1 connects to the Integra supplied EAD (WAN). Figure 3 Ingate SIParator Ethernet Ports Once the physical Ethernet connections are in place, both appliances can be managed by the web browser of choice. Choose carefully as not all popular web browsers are supported by the ShoreTel Director application. This document uses Microsoft Internet Explorer. Management IP addresses, credentials, and connectivity are designated by the customer. 4

Section 2: Login and Provision the ShoreTel IP PBX and Soft Switch Connect to the ShoreTel Director application (on the soft switch) using the URL format shown below. Connect to: Soft Switch IP Address/shorewaredirector/login.asp An example from the Integra Lab is: This is shown in the image below, outlined in blue. Enter the Username and Password credentials for the ShoreTel Director. As shown, outlined in red below, the default values are: Username: admin Password: changeme When ready to proceed, select and press the Login button as shown above. 5

After entering the above Username and Password values, press the Login button to continue. In the event that the appliance has been previsioned, the appropriate Username and Password are substituted for the default values. Security Note: It is highly recommended that the default Password value for the ShoreTel appliances and applications be changed. This default value can be easily found with an Internet simple search, as shown below. Note: Prior to make any changes in the ShoreTel appliances, it is recommended that a system backup be executed. This will preserve the current IP PBX and soft switch settings and allow a fall back, if necessary. This process is described in Chapter 21, System Backup and Restore in the System Administration Guide ShoreTel
