1 JOB DESCRIPTION Position Title: Director of Sales and Marketing Department/Location: Residential & Business Sales and Marketing Reports To: Chief Executive Officer Employees Supervised: Multi-Media Design Manager, Resident Sales Manager, Business Sales Manager, Assistant Sales Manager, Sales Associates, Systems Engineers & Sales Representative Interrelationships: This position has frequent contacts with Customers, Sales Persons, Design/Print/ Production Specialists, Community Representatives, and other Mosaic Employees. In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed below, the employee is expected to maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that gets along with customers, clients, coworkers, and supervisors. POSITION SUMMARY: The Director of Sales & Marketing is responsible for managing the Customer Service, Marketing, Sales and Public Relations Operations. POSITION DUTIES: Essential Job Functions: Management and supervision of assigned employees to ensure proper job performance, customer satisfaction, positive employee relations and attainment of goals. Examples of tasks include: assign work, check work, train or instruct others, coach and discipline as appropriate, make hiring decisions, give formal performance feedback, develop policies and procedures, plan group incentives and individual employee rewards to reinforce team effort and overall success.

2 Develop and implement marketing strategies, plans and materials to increase market penetration and meet sales goals. Examples of tasks include: lead planning sessions, generate ideas and creative approaches, related budgeting, obtain quotes for volume quantities, develop concepts and materials, plan launch of new services, coordinate with graphic design/print and production resources, establish goals, and design and administer employee incentives. Participate in strategic planning for expansion, new service offerings, new products and locations resulting in acceptance by the Board of Directors and action resulting in product launch and eventual customer satisfaction and growth. Examples of tasks include: participate in planning sessions, equipment training, evaluation of products/services, community meetings, brainstorming, regulatory work, presentations to the Board of Directors and other managers, evaluate the competition, meet with attorneys and community leaders, review petitions, and related activities. Coordinate sales efforts resulting in sales and satisfied customers. Examples of tasks include: approval of bids, development of competitive or promotional pricing, standard pricing for tariff books, equipment pricing for large projects, measure success of promotions, special sales events (e.g., Coop Kickoff Day, open houses, etc.), equipment and product education, draft contracts, and conduct sales meetings. Management participation in planning which has specific financial implications. Examples of tasks include: budgeting, equipment purchases, purchase of advertising, capital acquisition, staffing plan and promotional costs related to acquiring customers. OTHER DUTIES: Qualifications:

3 Education: two year degree in business/marketing/advertising. Experience:5-7 years of experience, including a combination of sales, telephony, and supervision. Personal Attributes Required: Must be knowledgeable of sales/marketing principles and personnel management practices. Must have an understanding of products and services offered by the Cooperative and its subsidiaries. Must demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills by portraying a professional personal image and positive image of the organization in all contacts with employees and the public. Must be able to think creatively regarding solutions to competitors initiatives and planning for growth. Must be capable of prioritizing among multiple tasks and activities. Must have the ability to use logical reasoning principles to arrive at solutions to work-related problems for which an established procedure may not exist. Sets an example of leadership to staff regarding positive public relations and personal work habits. Must have a combination of strong verbal skills and analytical ability to train and motivate others. Must gain considerable knowledge of the organization s products and services. Must demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships by using appropriate interpersonal skills. Must be able to inspire employees to understand the need for effective sales presentation, teamwork, and customer service. Must be able to maintain self-control under stressful situations, deadlines and work load pressures without exhibiting negative behaviors. Must be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information, and interact with others to accomplish tasks without arousing hostility. Must be able to assume responsibility and work with independence. Must have knowledge of good grammar, spelling, punctuation and basic math abilities. Essential Physical / Mental Requirements: Must be able to sit or stand for medium periods, up to four hours in an eight-hour day, with or without back support. Must be able to work outdoors

4 and travel as occasioned by meetings, travel to offices and community events. Must be able to perform light office work continuously, frequently lifting up to 10 pounds without assistance and infrequently lifting up to 50 pounds. Must be able to communicate effectively with employees and the public both in person, in writing and over the telephone. Must be able to move throughout the facility. Must be able to reach in all directions and bend/stoop to store and retrieve files, use telephone, calculator and computer. Must have dexterity and hand/eye coordination necessary to demonstrate products, operate computer keyboard and other office equipment. Visual activity requires the ability to tolerate periods of close paperwork, use of computer and other administrative functions. Hearing activity requires the ability to participate in numerous conversations throughout the work day both in person and over the telephone. Must be able to complete job duties in an environment where some background noise and frequent interruptions are the norms. Must have the ability to maintain concentration and focus on lengthy and sometimes complex projects. Must be able to cope effectively with periodic stress brought about by time pressures and deadlines and/or conflict situations which may arise. Must demonstrate ability to utilize basic math skills of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

5 Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, follow instructions, and be able to both comprehend and communicate complex material or requests. Must demonstrate excellent English language skills, including spelling, grammar and proofreading.
