1 HUMAN RESOURCES SALARY SURVEY JANUARY 2011 The data presented in this survey has been sourced from the analysis of vacancies placed with Alexander Lloyd during the period of 12 calendar months beginning January 2010 and ending January A salary range for each role has been stipulated relevant to industry sectors. Additional influencing factors including but not limited to the size of the company and departments have not been accounted for in this data. 2 Introduction Welcome to Alexander Lloyd s opinion based trend analysis of salary bandings for the sector from the previous twelve months. With the exciting addition of the Operations branch to the division, the expert recruiters have access to a wider range of data, permitting the presentation of salary bandings for roles across all levels. Generalist Roles Admin Officer / Advisor Manager/ Business Partner Director The previous twelve months have seen an influx in Director and Senior level roles following a trend in companies restructuring, with a fresh focus on rebuilding and redeveloping following the economic downturn of the previous two years. There has also been evidence of an increase in lower level positions as employees move internally within organisations up the career ladder, due to the ongoing implementation of the business partner models which has led companies to take a risk in promoting their more junior members of staff.

3 Training Roles Following a poor twenty four months for the Learning and Development market, Alexander Lloyd is pleased to report that a slight lift has been observed in the demand for Operational Training Delivery roles. The previous two years had seen a tangible decline in the availability of such roles as a result of the tough economic climate. Due to the difficulty in demonstrating the return on investment that training can achieve, these roles are often the first to go, and the last to be rehired. This had driven these specialists to look in alternative areas, reduce their salary expectations or simply left them unable to find a position. The hiring of trainers back into companies seems set to start a positive change in trend for 2011, and should help improve the overall levels of employee satisfaction by once again offering training opportunities and avoiding the potential for stagnation in a role resulting in higher levels of staff retention. 4 Reward Roles Reward Analyst Reward Manager Head of Reward The roles based in the reward sector of the industry have been consistent. As a niche side of the sector there are fewer candidates for each role than in the more numerous Generalist or Recruitment sectors. If you are looking to progress your career in, then this may be a sector worth investigating, offering higher remuneration that other arenas and potential opportunities that have less competition. The positive historical base has led to projections for a continuation of this stability into Considering the performance of reward roles, leads one to consider the position of rewards and bonuses offered to staff over the previous twelve months. There has been an increase of employers taking a more European approach to bonuses and wanting to see candidates presented with their total reward value, as opposed to a basic salary plus bonuses. The previous year has not seen a good bonus performance, with many employees seeing their bonus reach between 20 60% of it s potential but companies not paying out, which is proving a strong driver in the decision to move elsewhere. A greater focus on the work life balance which has been brought to prominence during the last decade, employers are now offering incentives to improve employee s health and wellbeing as well as competitive holiday allowances.

5 Recruitment Roles Senior Recruitment Professionals are now in demand, with specific employee relations skills continuing to be high in demand due to the number of change management projects that were undertaken in The predominant industries where the Recruitment sector is currently in demand are Financial Services, Travel, Consultancy and, particularly in Organisational Development and Talent Management at a senior level. Proactive talent pipelining is considered to be the root cause of this increase in demand. However, whilst some companies are finding this approach, just as many are not and still approaching external agencies to source the type of quality candidates that are desired, resulting in an unnecessary increase in bottom line salary spend.
