3 Coaches, Congratulations on representing your city with a trip to the Alabama State ARPA Soccer Tournament. I am pleased that the Opelika Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting this event. The Parks and Recreation Staff is very proud of the W. James Samford Soccer Complex, and we are looking forward to hosting the state tournament at our facility. We wish all teams the best of luck in the tourney and we hope each team will remember that sportsmanship and hard play go hand in hand. The Soccer complex is located alongside the Opelika SportsPlex and Aquatics Center. The SportsPlex and Aquatics center is a membership based facility that is a full workout facility. The SportsPlex also hosts a gym and indoor heated swimming pool for our membership. I would like to extend an invitation to all parents to come visit the center and we will be happy to give tours or let you simply look around. I would however ask that teams do not use the building as a place to take breaks between games. This is a membership based facility and we are not set up to accommodate large groups of people simply relaxing. We have an outdoor amphitheater with plenty of green space where teams will be able to gather and relax between games. There is also ample space within our soccer complex for teams to spread out and rest. We would like to offer all tournament players the opportunity to use the swimming pool free of charge during the day if their schedule allows. I would like to remind everyone that if players do come to use the pool or view the center they should remove their cleats before entering the building. Families wishing to use the pool area during the tournament may do so by paying our normal daily pool fee of $4.00 per swimmer. Again, we are very excited about the opportunity to host the ARPA State Soccer Tournament in Opelika. The staff of the Opelika Parks and Recreation Department looks forward to your team s arrival. 4 Coach Information Coaches, Congratulations on advancing to the ARPA state soccer tournament! I am very excited to be hosting this event. Opelika has one of the premier soccer facilities in the state and I am proud to share them with the ARPA teams. Please read carefully the information below so that you will all be fully prepared for the tournament. Park Rules No dogs permitted inside soccer fields. No coolers or outside food and drink will be allowed inside gates. No smoking or tobacco products, including electronic cigarettes, are allowed anywhere on the SportsPlex property. Admission Fee $5 per day ages 6 and up Under 6 free Check In An hour prior to your first game the coach or team manager will need to check in at the soccer office located on the spectator side of field 3. You will need to pick up coaches passes as well as the team packages. Hospitality The Hospitality room will be located in the Sportsplex. This is for coaches and ARPA officials only. Water Stations There will be water coolers located on the player s side of all the fields for players to refill their personal water bottles. Concessions There are 2 concession stands located on the property. Concession stands will be fully stocked for meals and snacks. Schedules Schedules will be posted online at Opelikasportsplex.com. They will also be sent out to the directors of all participating cities. Parking There is limited parking on the soccer field side of the SportsPlex. There is ample parking in the field behind the SportsPlex. Please park there. Do not double park, park on curbs or sidewalks, or park on walking tracks. 5 2014 ARPA State Soccer Tournament Information All games will be played at the W. James Samford Complex 1001 Andrews Rd. Opelika, AL Admission Fee $5.00 per day ages 6 & up Under 6 Free Facility Rules No pets are allowed inside the soccer complex. No coolers or outside food allowed inside soccer complex. There is no smoking allowed anywhere on SportsPlex property. This includes electronic cigarettes. SportsPlex & Aquatics Center The SportsPlex and Aquatics Center hours are 8am-5pm Saturday and 1pm-5pm Sunday. Players have access to the indoor pool at no charge. Family members wanting to use the pool or weight room facilities may pay the daily fee of $4.00 pool only or $10 for full daily membership including pool, racquetball, basketball court and fitness facilities. Parking There is limited parking on the soccer field side of the SportsPlex. There is ample parking in the field behind the SportsPlex. Please park there. Do not double park, park on curbs or sidewalks, or park on walking tracks. Concessions There are 2 concession stands located on the property. Concession stands will be fully stocked for meals and snacks. Spectators Spectators will watch the games from the sidelines opposite the player s benches. There will be room for spectators to bring folding chairs. No spectators will be allowed on sidelines with teams. Neither coaches nor spectators will be permitted on the end lines of the fields.
