Rabbit Hill Snow Resort would like the opportunity to present the many educational and health benefits of utilizing a Ski & Snowboard Program within your school. Whether you currently offer your students the opportunity to develop a life skill through a skiing or boarding program or not, we believe our Snow Education Program should be of interest to you. Not all Ski Areas offer the same program or facilities. Rabbit Hill has developed its Snow Education Program with three major considerations: Educational Merit, On Site Organization and Dollar Value. Skiing or boarding offers all four components of Education Philosophy: Academic: Rabbit Hill utilizes professional certified Instructors that provide a structured learning environment. Social & Emotional: Everyone can learn to ski or snowboard; there is no body type or strength limitations putting most students on an equal footing. Students setting their own goals and achieving them at a comfortable pace helps build self-esteem. An added benefit is the relationship between teacher & student is often strengthened due to the interaction outside the classroom. Physical: Proper instruction through a structured program achieves a life skill that a student may not otherwise be exposed to. This skill is introduced at a time when exercise should be, but may not be, an essential component of a student s lifestyle. Introducing a student to skiing or snowboarding may be the difference between a positive or negative outlook on physical activity in general and certainly will increase winter activity levels. Without experiencing a facility first hand, it is difficult to assess the degree of organization you will be dealing with. It is hoped that by reviewing the contents of our Snow Education Program Information Package some insight into our level of organization will be provided. Besides assessing the education and organizational merit of a Skiing & Snowboarding Program, you should also try and provide the best VALUE possible. We believe that the major components of VALUE are Service, Quality of Experience and Price. When you consider the scope of our facility, providing the largest and most varied ski and board terrain, snowmaking capability and snow grooming, and the efficiency with which we process your students, Rabbit Hill is the best possible choice of facility. Add to this the professional and experienced Snow School and Management Staff; Rabbit Hill is second to none for Service & Quality of Experience. These facts should be considered when evaluating price. Rabbit Hill does not offer the cheapest price; we do provide the BEST VALUE! Proof of our excellence in programs and operations is the fact that the Rabbit Hill Snow Resort has received numerous awards recognizing excellence in skier development and programming. Rabbit Hill has been recognized nationally and regionally by The Canadian Ski Council and was the venue chosen by the Canada West Ski Areas Association for the production of its School Group Program Education video. Please contact our Group Coordinator if you have any questions or require additional information. 3

Rabbit Hill believes that the better organized and supervised your trip is the more enjoyable and educational it will be for all concerned. As such we have developed a system that will greatly enhance and compliment your own planning and organizational skills. It is our goal to provide your students with the most efficient, educational and enjoyable outing possible, but we rely on YOU to implement our suggestions and provide the pre-event planning for your organization. COMMUNICATION IS THE KEY! We will do our best to let you know what is expected and what to expect in order for your first visit to be organized, supervised and enjoyable. Rabbit Hill employs a full time experienced Group Coordinator to work with you on planning and implementing your Snow Educational Program and is available to explain or help with any items which are of concern to you. We rely on you to communicate relevant information to other parties with vested interest such as Parents, Principals, Accompanying Supervisors and Students. WHAT TO COMMUNICATE? To the Principal: If the Organizing Supervisor is not the Principal, we recommend providing a copy of this information package, your itinerary, including transportation details, the student/supervisor ratio, emergency procedure in case of an injury to a student and the educational goals or rationale for your choice of a Snow Education Program as an education tool. To the Parents: Approximately 75% of your student s parents will be non-skiers or nonsnowboarders and as such will have no concept of what skiing or snowboarding entails. At the very least please send home the Parental Information Sheet enclosed in this package and preferably utilize the Parental Permission Form. The key message to communicate to the parents is that there is an element of risk involved and although supervision, to some degree, is provided, their child will not be supervised at all times. Neither you, the School, or Rabbit Hill is guaranteeing an injury-free activity. To the Accompanying Supervisors: You and Rabbit Hill need the help of the Accompanying Supervisors, but they will be of little help if we have not told them what is expected. Please provide them with the Accompanying Supervisor Responsibility List enclosed and ADD any of your particular requirements to the list. Please stress the seriousness of their role while accompanying your students to Rabbit Hill. (Having them view the Rabbit Hill orientation movie is recommended) To your Students or Group: We strongly recommend they are aware of the Alpine Responsibility Code (enclosed in this package) and distribute a copy to each student. It should be made very clear that reckless behaviour both ON and OFF the hill will not be tolerated. To Rabbit Hill Snow Resort: This is probably the easiest partner to communicate with since we are generally just a phone call, fax or away. If you have followed the outlined procedures, have provided a completed Booking Request Form, and have received a Confirmation of Booking from Rabbit Hill, all you need to do is inform us of any changes in your numbers. It may sound like common courtesy, but if you are aware that you will not be coming on a date you have booked, we ask that you inform us immediately. 4

Thank you for choosing Rabbit Hill Snow Resort. It is our goal to provide you with a wellorganized and enjoyable experience. We try and make the effort on your part minimal, but as the Organizing Supervisor we rely on your cooperation to provide us with the information required and inform your staff and students of our requirements and expectations. BEFORE YOUR VISIT 1. Please read the enclosed insert Planning Your Snow Education Program. 2. or Fax a completed Booking Request Form (enclosed). You may wish to contact our Group Coordinator to discuss available dates. Dates requested are not confirmed until you have received a Confirmation Letter. 3. Please ensure the information on the Confirmation Letter is correct. Rabbit Hill utilizes this form to coordinate your visit. It is imperative that you notify Rabbit Hill Snow Resort s Group Coordinator of any incorrect information or changes. 4. Arrange for bus transportation as required. 5. The enclosed Group Rental Form must be used to record the rental ski or board equipment that your group will be using. We require you to (groupservices@rabbithill.com) or fax ( ) your forms with attending students listed, no later then two days prior to your visit. Any last minute additions or omissions can be made the day of. 6. Assess your supervisory requirements and recruit an adequate number of adults to monitor your students both ON and OFF the hill. We recommend a ratio of one (1) Supervisor for every ten (10) students and will supply up to this many Supervisors with a complimentary Lift Pass and Rentals. Make sure each adult is aware of the expectations and responsibilities. (See Accompanying Supervisor Responsibility sheet) 7. NOTE: it is essential that all students know their proper weight & shoe size to ensure proper ski/board boot fitting and ski binding adjustment. All students should be told not to wear expensive footwear or bring valuables to the Snow Resort. 8. It is recommended that each Parent receive the enclosed Parent Information Package and Permission Form. At the very least you should be familiar with the information contained in the Parent Information Package. THREE TO FOUR DAYS PRIOR TO YOUR VISIT OR PHONE IN YOUR FINAL NUMBERS 1. Verify the actual number of Students and Accompanying Supervisors that will be arriving at Rabbit Hill Snow Resort so we can have your Lift Tickets ready upon arrival. 2. Verify the number of Students taking lessons; we will need to know the number of Ski lessons and the number of Snowboard lessons. This will enable us to have the appropriate number of Instructors available. 3. Remind all participants that they should be wearing OLD FOOTWEAR and to leave all VALUABLES at home or school. NOTE: Rabbit Hill Snow Resort is NOT RESPONSBILE for any lost or stolen articles. *Please inform the Group Coordinator of any Special Needs Students participating at the time of booking.* 5

1. Before you depart, assign your Accompanying Supervisors to the students they will be directly responsible for. If this is not possible we recommend it be done at some point prior to your students being allowed to ski or board on their own. Emphasize that skiers and boarders observed not obeying these rules will have their lift privileges revoked. 2. On arrival, please keep the students on the bus while you are greeted by the Rabbit Hill Staff and the distribution of your Lift Tickets is arranged. It is best to distribute the Lift Tickets while your students are ON the bus. (Supervisor Tickets will be held at Customer Service until YOU pick them up to distribute to your Accompanying Supervisors.) If a Rabbit Hill Staff Member does not greet your bus, please send in one Supervisor to the Customer Service Desk to pick up the Lift Tickets. Do not allow students that have not been issued a lift ticket to leave the Bus unloading area. 3. Send at least two (2) Supervisors immediately upon arrival to the Rental Shop and have them pick up your groups Rental Forms from the Cashier. They must check in to the Rental Shop before any of your students can be processed. 4. Once all the Lift Tickets have been issued a Rabbit Hill Staff Member will escort your group into the Lodge and instruct your students where to leave their lunches, backpacks, etc. Please do not send any student into the Lodge without a Rabbit Hill Staff Escort. Your students will be kept in the Lodge until notified to proceed to the Rental Shop. (Students should have on everything needed for skiing or snowboarding before going to the Rental Shop) Students not requiring rental equipment do not have to go to the Rental Shop. It is recommended that you assign one or two Accompanying Supervisors to be responsible for these students. 5. Make sure most Accompanying Supervisors arrive in the Rental Shop with the students and are helping with boot sizing and recording the equipment numbers as the students are exiting the Rental Shop. (Check with Rental Shop Staff upon arrival for further information) 6. After all of your Students and Supervisors have checked out of the Rental Shop, collect ALL the Group Rental Forms and return them to the cashier in the Rental Shop. Do not allow any of the Group Rental Forms to leave the Rental Shop. You will be asked to verify and initial for the actual number of rental skis, snowboards and helmets supplied to your group. Please confirm the equipment return time with the Rental Shop staff. 7. While your students are in their lesson, you and your supervisors are not required to be with them. If your students are not in a lesson they are your responsibility. Please ensure your Accompanying Supervisors are providing adequate supervision both ON and OFF the hill. It is suggested you assign Supervisors to alternate being on-hill and inside the lodge. 8. Please make sure that you and your Accompanying Supervisors are back in the Rental Shop ready to assist with the equipment returns shortly before your students begin returning their equipment. 9. Prior to your departure you are required to stop at the Customer Service Desk to verify your charges and pick up your invoice. (You can do this anytime during your visit) We have specifically designed and constantly modify our system to efficiently co-ordinate groups participating in our Snow Education Program. In order for the system to work we rely on your cooperation and appreciate the help you have provided. Should you require additional information, or are unclear about any of the above responsibilities, please contact our Group Coordinator at your convenience. 6

Thank you for being involved in the Snow Education Program at Rabbit Hill Snow Resort. Although skiing & snowboarding is a great deal of fun for both you and the students, as a Supervisor there are some serious responsibilities. It is the intent of the following list to make you aware of the expectations Rabbit Hill Snow Resort has of you. We perceive your role as actively SUPERVISING the students both ON and OFF the hill. OFF THE HILL: 1. Upon your groups arrival, please keep students on the bus until the Lift Ticket distribution has been arranged. Helping your students put their tickets on a properly would be of great help. (Place tickets on a clothing article they will be wearing all day) 2. Accompany the students into the Lodge when directed to by Rabbit Hill Staff. Stay with the students, keeping them in an orderly fashion until they have been escorted into the Rental Shop. We recommend the Organizing Supervisor assign one (1) or two (2) Accompanying Supervisors to be responsible for the students not requiring rental equipment. 3. Once in the Rental Shop, please help all students find their correct boot size. 4. While the students are in their lessons, please relax in our Lodge or have some fun on the hill yourself. We ask only that you be aware of when your students will be finished their lessons and resume your supervisory role at that time. 5. During the recreational ski / board time your students will be in the Lodge at various times. We ask that while in the Lodge they behave in a responsible manner and that you monitor their behaviour on the same basis and standard you would at school or home. 6. Approximately twenty (20) minutes prior to your students returning their rental equipment, we ask that you arrive in the Rental Shop to help. (Checking them off the Group Rental Form, putting boots back on the shelves, hanging poles) 7. After all your students have returned their equipment, ensure the students you are responsible for are in attendance. Inform the Organizing Supervisor that all your students are accounted for and then escort them back to your awaiting bus or as directed by the Organizing Supervisor. ON THE HILL: 1. Review the Alpine Responsibility Code supplied to you. Simply stated, your job is to try and ensure ALL your students are following this code. 2. Any students in your charge not adhering to the Alpine Responsibility Code or not behaving in a responsible manner should be warned or removed from the hill. If Rabbit Hill Staff witnesses any irresponsible behaviour, we will either warn your student(s) or remove them from the hill. 3. If you witness a student not in your charge demonstrating irresponsible behaviour you have the authority and responsibility to warn them or report them to the Rabbit Hill staff. 4. While standing in the Lift lines, please supervise ALL students in your vicinity. If you witness any students displaying rude or disruptive behaviour please assert your authority. Accompanying your students should be a very enjoyable and fun experience, but remember you are responsible for their behaviour. We appreciate your efforts and should you require assistance from our staff please let us know how we can be of help. 7

Rabbit Hill Snow Resort strives to give you and your students the best skiing and snowboarding experience available. We constantly evaluate and improve the delivery of our Snow School Education program and based on observation and your feedback we have modified and simplified our existing system. The following outlines these improvements. Goals of the System Modification: The objective of the following modifications is to alleviate waiting time and allow more onsnow time for your students. We have also simplified the pre visit Student Classification System to better reflect the realities of students accurately assessing their own ability level. Student Classification System: Classification System Prior to Arrival at Rabbit Hill: The Past System- Ability Based Classification Required students to categorize themselves based on 5 technically differing skill sets prior to their arrival at the Resort. (A, B, C, D and E). This system required students or supervisors to identify 5 technically different levels of skiing or snowboarding. The System- Experience Based Classification Requires no technical knowledge. Students need to simply answer whether they have skied or snowboarded 5 times or less or more than 5 times. This system allows for only two easily remembered categories which require no technical knowledge. For identification purposes the less experienced group will be coded with the color Green and the more experienced group with the color Blue. All the students need to remember is if they are in the Green or Blue group. Classification on Arrival at the Snow School Meeting Place- -Past System- It was assumed that students had properly classified themselves prior to arrival. Instructors began teaching after all students had been lined up at the appropriate ability level signs. Instructors would spend teaching time dealing with improperly self categorized students by trying to find an appropriate group to put the miss categorized student in. The System- On arrival at the Snow School Sign students will be directed to an area appropriate for observation by a qualified instructor. Each student will be observed and assessed quickly based on ACTUAL ability and assigned an instructor accordingly. This evaluation will be incorporated while keeping the student s active and learning. 8

Lesson Start Times and Duration: -Past System- Regimented lesson times at specified times. Students were held until everyone assigned to that particular lesson time was present on snow. The System- No regimented lesson start times. Groups will still be processed based on the scheduled arrival time but lessons will commence as soon as possible thereafter. Lessons will start as soon as possible when the students arrive on snow according to their existing Experience level (Blue or Green). This will minimize wait time for lesson starts. (Unless specially arranged with the Group Services Manager no lessons will commence prior to 9:30 am.) Lesson duration will be up to one hour based on the student s ability level and needs. Some lessons (depending on ability level of the students) will be longer in duration than others. Processing of Students Rabbit Hill Snow Resort has developed our program with a sincere desire to provide as much help as possible and to allow for quick processing of students. In this respect you will see nothing change. We will still be meeting your bus on arrival, helping to organize your students into the appropriate groups and escort them through the Lodge and Rental Shop. As in the past your cooperation in helping your students through the system and recording all Rental Equipment provided to your students is still critical to the system. 9

Please make your students aware!!! There are elements of risk in skiing and snowboarding that COMMON SENSE & AWARENESS can help reduce. 1. Ski or Board UNDER CONTROL and in such a manner so you can stop or avoid other people or objects. 2. When going downhill or overtaking another person, you must avoid the person BELOW you. 3. You must not stop where you obstruct a trail or are not visible from ABOVE. 4. When entering a trail or starting downhill, YEILD to other people. 5. If you are involved in or witness a collision, remain at the scene and identify yourself to Ski Patrol. 6. Always use proper devices to help prevent runaway equipment. 7. Observe and obey all posted signs and warnings. 8. Keep off closed trails and closed areas. 9. You must not use the lifts or terrain if your ability is impaired by the use of drugs or alcohol. 10. You must have the ability and knowledge to safely load, ride & unload the lift. If in doubt, ask the lift attendant. In addition to the above, Rabbit Hill requires: Tucking, skiing or boarding at high speed or jumping outside of the Terrain Park is NOT allowed. Do not hit your skis together while riding the chairlift. (They can come off and hit people) It is recommended that beginner skiers & boarders take lessons to learn the rules & techniques of the sport. No matter what level of ability lessons can make the experience more enjoyable. Ski or board ONLY where your Instructor has taken you. Practice what you have learned on the runs your Instructor took you on. Using the Lifts Clothing Obey all posted instructions Do not use a lift until an Instructor has instructed you on its use. Your Instructor will advise you on the lifts you should be using or you can ask for assistance. Do not cut into the lineups. Move quickly away from the unloading area. Dress appropriately for the weather conditions. You will be more comfortable if you dress is layers of non-restrictive clothing that can be altered as the temperature changes. On sub zero or windy days, shield your face with a high collar, neck warmer or facemask. Do NOT wear long scarves. A good pair of mittens with liners is usually warmer then gloves. 10

Terrain Park Restrictions As the Ski and Snowboard industry evolves Rabbit Hill is constantly trying to provide the best facility and services possible. The latest development in the industry is the advent of terrain parks. A Terrain Park is an area with man made jumps, bumps and obstacles for skiers and boarders. Generally speaking most ski and boarding areas allow unrestricted access to the Terrain Park area. We feel that a wide open policy is not in the best interest of lower-end skiers and boarders and as such we have identified the area as EXPERT TERRAIN only. To further help you in controlling access to the area we have made it off limits to all school groups without consent of the accompanying group supervisor. If you do not wish any of your students to be in the park area do not issue any validation stickers. Some group supervisors may feel they do not have the knowledge base to decide who does and who does not have the ability to use the Park. If you would like our staff to make this determination we will be happy to do so. It is our recommendation that stickers are only to be given to advance skiers and boarders who have gone thru a snow school ski off. Procedure for granting access to the Park 1. Upon your arrival let Customer Service know how many stickers you will require or if you would like our Snow School to distribute them after the lessons. Remember if Rabbit Hill distributes the stickers, only the Advanced skier or boarder will get one. 2. If you will be distributing the stickers it is recommended that you do so at the Snow School Meeting Sign in front of the lodge. Please inform your students of where and when they can get their sticker. 3. Stickers should be applied to the front of the group lift pass, that is attached to the student s jacket. 4. NOTE: Helmets are mandatory in the Terrain Park If you are allowing access to the Park we recommend one of the accompanying supervisors be in the area. We patrol the Park on a regular basis but, as is the case on the rest of the Ski Area, direct supervision of your students after their lesson is the accompanying supervisor s responsibility. We appreciate your patronage and if you have any questions or concerns please contact the Group Coordinator at your convenience. 11

Your child will soon be partaking in a Ski & Snowboard Education Program at Rabbit Hill Snow Resort With (School or Group). You may or may not be familiar with the sport of skiing and or snowboarding and as such we wish to inform you of some of the Program s content, as well as to identify some of the unique aspects of the sport. Why Learn to Ski or Snowboard? Skiing or snowboarding provides more then a physical education opportunity, it actually introduces a life skill. Very few sports provide the opportunity for each student to develop at their own pace and ability without the pressure of a competitive environment. Skiing or snowboarding can provide this experience. It is our intention that a Snow Education Program will introduce your child to an activity that will benefit them educationally and encourage an activity they can partake in for the rest of their lives. How Safe Is Skiing? The perception that skiing is a high-risk activity is a myth. Statistically less people are injured skiing per 1,000 participants than a sport such as track & field, basketball or baseball. Unfortunately some accidents do occur and you should be aware that it is possible that your child could be injured while participating. If you are not willing to assume this risk you may wish to reconsider allowing your child to participate. Most accidents occur while being out of control or by riding on terrain above the student s ability. Because skiing & snowboarding is an individual sport in a largely uncontrolled environment the responsibility rests with the student on where and how they choose to ride. Rabbit Hill Snow Resort employs professional and volunteer Ski Patrol with First Aid & Emergency training. It should be noted that if the Ski Patrol feels the situation is urgent enough, Paramedic (Ambulance) assistance will be called for without first notifying the parent. If there is any particular medical history or information regarding your child that the Ski Patrol should be made aware of, please ensure the Group Supervisor is advised. How Safe Is Snowboarding? Snowboarding in and of itself has an associated risk similar to skiing (outlined above), however, boarding in terrain parks, boarding above one s ability or doing free-style maneuvers without proper preparation or training increases the likelihood of injury. It is strongly recommended that all students take proper and sufficient instruction and that they be instructed not to access the Terrain Park area until they have acquired an advanced degree of ability. How The Program Is Structured: There are basically three (3) components to the outing. First is the Ski or Snowboard Lesson. Rabbit Hill recommends all students take a lesson regardless of how much they have skied or snowboarded in the past. Experienced instructors employed by Rabbit Hill Snow Resort teach the Group Lesson. The second component is recreational ski or board time. After, and in some cases before, the assigned Lesson time, the students are allowed to ski or board on their own as directed by the School or Group Supervisor. During this time your child will most likely not be under direct supervision. This time is as important as the Lesson since the only way your child will improve their ability is to practice what they are taught. The third component, although not educational in nature, is part of every outing; Break Periods. Most students take breaks during the day as they feel necessary. At such times the student is most likely to be in the Day Lodge at the base of the Snow Resort Area, unless otherwise instructed by the Group Supervisor. Other than during the Lesson component of the Program, your child is responsible to the School or Group Supervisors. The Snow Resort Area Part of the reason a Snow Education program is so rewarding is the nature of the exciting and different environment the students experience both ON and OFF the hill. On The Hill: Rabbit Hill Snow Resort has 11 ski/snowboard runs of varying levels of difficulty spread over 80 acres of river valley. The runs are accessed by 2 magic carpets, 3 Rope Tows, 2 T-Bar Lifts, 1 Handle Tow, and 1 Triple Chair Lift. During the course of the lessons the students will be instructed utilizing different lifts and runs. Your child will be told while in their lesson not to use any lifts or runs that they did not use during their lesson. If this instruction is heeded it is highly unlikely students will find the ski or snowboard terrain or lifts beyond their ability. However the responsibility for following this advice is up to the students. It should be noted that there is an easy way down 12

from each of the lifts and area maps are posted and available to the students. Reckless skiing or snowboarding is not tolerated at Rabbit Hill. Due to the nature of the environment it is impossible to identify and immediately stop every skier or snowboarder going too fast or out of control. Each and every skier or snowboarder has a responsibility to stay in control and watch for any reckless skiing or snowboarding. Terrain Park: A Terrain Park is a standard feature at most modern Snow Resorts. It is a fenced and gated area that offers skier and snowboarders a number of jumps and obstacles designed to facilitate freestyle aerial maneuvers (jumps) and other activities similar to those found in a Skateboard Park. If an individual is not an advanced rider, or they are attempting maneuvers above their ability level in the Terrain Park there is an increased likelihood for injury. If you have reservations about your child s ability we emphasize that you do not give them permission to use the Terrain Park. Off The Hill: The Day Lodge at Rabbit Hill is a public cafeteria setting. Many different schools utilize the skiing and snowboarding opportunities at Rabbit Hill Snow Resort. Consequently the Day Lodge can become very busy. Each group is assigned an area to drop off anything that will not be used while skiing and snowboarding, but this area is NOT secured and as with any public facility, theft can occur. It is highly recommended by Rabbit Hill that NO VALUABLES be sent to the Snow Resort Area and anything of value not be left in the public area. Anything of concern should be locked in the coin lockers provided. Students that will be renting equipment will be allowed to leave their FOOTWEAR in the Rental Shop if so desired. We DO NOT recommend leaving any footwear of considerable value in the Rental Shop since this area is also public and unsecured. Shoes can be returned to the coin locker area after acquiring rental equipment or placed out of sight in the student s school bag left in the Day Lodge. Rabbit Hill STONGLY RECOMMENDS WEARING OLD FOOTWEAR to the area. Ski Rental Equipment: Most students involved in the Ski Education Program require ski equipment. Skis, bindings, boots, helmet & poles are provided. The students are allowed to select their boots with the help of both School Group Supervisors and Rabbit Hill Staff members. Students should know their shoe size (running shoe size) and listen to the instructions given by the Staff members prior to entering the Boot Room. Skis are selected and the bindings set by qualified and certified Ski Technicians employed by Rabbit Hill. It should be noted that ski bindings do not guarantee against injury and do not release in all situations. Bindings are only meant to reduce the risk of injury, not eliminate it. Snowboard Rental Equipment: Students that are renting equipment snowboard equipment will receive boots, helmet and a snowboard. The students are allowed to select their boots with the help of either School or Group Supervisors and Rabbit Hill Staff members. Students should know their shoe size (running shoe size) and listen to the instructions given by the Staff members prior to entering the Boot Room. Snowboards are selected and set by Technicians employed by Rabbit Hill. Please note: snowboard bindings are not designed to, or required to release, therefore wearing a leash is mandatory. (They are on all rental boards & are available for purchase should your own equipment not have one) *The Ski and Snowboard Program your school or group has chosen to utilize is one of the best organized and operated in Western Canada. Rabbit Hill Snow Resort is a member of the Canada West Ski Area Association and has been a leader in the Ski Industry since Rabbit Hill Snow Resort s Snow School is recognized as one of the finest in Canada and has received numerous awards to verify this status. Both the School or Group and Rabbit Hill Snow Resort consider the educational opportunities that skiing or snowboarding offers to be very beneficial to the students. We hope the enclosed information is helpful in informing you about some of the unique aspects of the Skiing & Snowboarding Program your child will be involved in. -Page 2 of 2-13

(Name of School or Group) is arranging a Snow Education trip to Rabbit Hill Snow Resort to ski and / or snowboard. This signed Form is meant to provide you with important information and inform you of the risk and environment your child will encounter. Ski Area Environment: Because of the individual nature of the sport of skiing and snowboarding it is both challenging and rewarding to each and every participant, however, it also means that participants can not be supervised or controlled at all times by either the Group Supervisors or Rabbit Hill Staff. Students, when not in a Lesson, are responsible for their choice of ski terrain, ski lift utilization, and behaviour. As such all skier and snowboarders are expected to ski or snowboard in control at all times, to know and OBEY the Alpine Responsibility Code which is provided to the Group Organizer and is posted at the Snow Resort Area. YOUR CHILD WILL NOT BE DIRECTLY SUPERVISED AT ALL TIMES. Use Of Rental Skis & Snowboard Equipment: Rabbit Hill Snow Resort rents skis and snowboard equipment to participants requesting use. Ski bindings reduce but do not eliminate the risk of injury when falling. Ski bindings are not designed to release in every circumstance and do not guarantee safety. Snowboard bindings are not designed to, or required to release in any circumstance. Assumption Or Risk: Skiing & Snowboarding, although challenging and invigorating, involves many inherent risks. Injury may result from, but is not limited to, many natural and man-made hazards such as collision with other skiers, snowboarders, or obstacles, varying snow & terrain conditions, as well as the improper use of lift facilities. Falls, collisions, and other incidents may occur and cause injury. Skier, snowboarders, and their respective parent or guardian must assume the risks involved with these sports and if not willing to assume this risk should not take part in the activity. Acknowledgement & Permission: I have read and understood the above information & warning and I accept the inherent risks involved with my child participating in a Ski & Snowboard Education Program at Rabbit Hill Snow Resort. I give my child, (child s name) permission to participate in the Snow Education Program to be held at Rabbit Hill Snow Resort. Parent / Guardian s Signature: Date: 14
