My argument underlines the critical intervening role of organizational factors and public attitudes and combines state of the art qualitative methods to offer a nuanced reformulation of the inclusion-moderation thesis. The course fulfilled two goals: First, it exposed students to the major theoretical contributions and debates in the study of terrorism; and second, it examined the broader issue of asymmetric conflict through the prism of cinema. Graduate Assistant, Project on Post-Conflict Justice and Islam- Institute for National Security and Counterterrorism, Syracuse University (Summer 2011) Collected information on inter- and intrastate conflicts in the Muslim world for a project organized in co-ordination with the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) and the International Institute of Higher Studies in Criminal Sciences (ISISC). Assisted with research on the compatibility of Islamic law with International Humanitarian Law, and on Islamic perspectives on post-conflict justice.
