1 The Diary of Anne Frank Reader s Response journal Act 2, Scene 1: Vocabulary Development Peter is furious, inarticulate (p. 751). Inarticulate means. What causes Peter to become inarticulate? Setting: According to Anne s diary (her voice), how long have the families been in hiding?.(p. 749) Characterization: On p. 749, Anne says, There is one great change, however. A change in myself. One thing Anne says in this scene that shows this feeling is I found this quotation on page. 2 One conflict from this scene that gives her or Peter the need to let off steam is when Literary Term: simile (comparison using like or as Anne describes everyone s hunger rumblings in similes, comparing everyone to an orchestra tuning up. Another simile she uses on page 756 is Literary Term: metaphor (direct comparison without using like or as Anne writes that Mr. Kraler has ulcers. Ulcers are an inflamed open sore in the inner lining of the stomach. (People used to think that stress caused ulcers.) Anne writes in her diary on page 756, Mr. Kraler is in the hospital. It seems he has ulcers. Pim says we are his ulcers. This metaphor means. Making an Inference: On page 753, Mr. Kraler states, You get to the point where you suspect everyone and everything.
