The CSC can tell you if you need to pull over so you don t cause further damage or if you can stay on the road. Put simply, it s like having a technician in every coach. 5 DD13: with SCR emissions technology. How SCR Technology Works Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) is a complete emissions system that combines exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), diesel particulate filter (DPF), diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) and a selective catalyst. SCR treats the exhaust gases downstream of the engine instead of requiring complex engine changes. It does this by injecting a small amount of diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) into the exhaust stream, which reacts with the NOx in the SCR catalyst, forming nitrogen and water. The nitrogen and water - safe elements in the air we breathe - are released into the environment. CAC Decreased levels of EGR PM trapped in aftertreatment device. Finally, it exits the tailpipe as nitrogen and water. NH3 and NOx react in the catalyst to form nitrogen and water Operating an SCR-Equipped Coach is Simple There is one thing to keep in mind when operating an SCR-equipped coach: Watch the DEF gauge to see when it s time for a refill. GHG14 The DD13 engine is 2013 OBD (OBD13) Certified and is compliant with 2014 Greenhouse Gas (GHG14) regulations. THE DEF GAUGE IS INTEGRATED INTO THE DIESEL FUEL GAUGE Only available with Detroit SCR Emissions Technology The gauge indicates the level of DEF in the tank and has a series of alerts when the tank is running low. A driver who ignores the low DEF level warnings will see de-rates and restrictions on the vehicle, but will never be stranded. Just watch the gauge.
