2 VENTILATION: BROILERS Air inlets This advice applies to a temperate /cold climate. Depending on the width of the poultry house a choice is made between Flash 4 Seasons X-Stream In the sidewalls Tulderhof places 70 to 80% of the total ventilation capacity. For poultry houses from 18 meters extra tunnel inlets are often placed in the front wall. These tunnel inlets create a good wind chilling effect when it gets hotter. Up to 30% of the total capacity: Tunnel Twin. For blind spots and air inlets which can t be placed in the first bays extra air inlets could be placed in the front wall. On the outside of the barn we advise to place winter doors in front of the Tunnel twins. This increases the insulation and reduces direct daylight. Position of the air inlets: The bottom of the air inlet at 1m 50 to 1m 60 For Tunnel Twin this is 1 m. Winch motors & Fans Fans It s important that the first 30% can be stepless adjustable. This can be done by switching the small fans on and off or with a frequency controlled group. With young chicks less ventilation is needed. The big fans are a source of air leakage and are not well insulated. Therefore we advise to close them with insulated doors, which are also airtight. Winch engines Tulderhof advices to ventilate 1/3 or 1/4 and to work with a summer/ winter mode. It s best to place the winch engines in the middle of the house. To obtain a uniform valve position it is advisable to make the wire maximum 40 metres. This because temperature differences can stretch or shrink the wire. Our winch engine works with nylon belts that can be rolled twice. This prevents breakage from the drum. Also to place the engine in the middle you divide the wire length.

3 Air treatment For Optimization of your ventilation Tulderhof advices the Air Optimizer. Because of its special recirculation and forced air flow it will provide much dryer litter. Houses <= 24 m Houses <= 24 m For poultry houses until 24 metres Tulderhof advices the X-stream I,II, III or Flash. The 4 seasons air inlet could also suffice when you want a plywood air inlet. When you have obstacles Flash is the only right choice. For poultry houses wider than 24 metres Tulderhof always advises Flash. Because of its flaps this air inlet can steer the air further into the house and bring the air where you want it. 4 VENTILATION: BROILERS Air flow patterns with different types of air inlets FLASH Air inlet with flexible air pattern Flash 3300 & Flash BP The throw (air direction) is not affected by the valve (amount of air). This means that there are many different airflows possible. 1 = minimum ventilation 2 = 50% ventilation 3 = maximum ventilation X-STREAM & 4 SEASONS Air inlet with hinge point X-Stream & 4 Seasons When the valve opens, the air can only pass above. This way it steers quite straight into the house. After 10 to 15% the valve opens underneath as well. The air is then deflected downwards, creating a nice rolling effect. TWIN Air inlet with closed bottom Tulderhof doesn t really advice this type of air inlets for broilers. If you still wish this type of air inlet we can supply the Twin.

5 Daylight and broilers? Nowadays daylight is more and more an issue in broiler houses. Even special segments in the market are created for this. Also with this matter Tulderhof could be useful. Furthermore our daylight products are KAT-worthy and can be completely darkened. This gives an additional value for your management. Black out roof window Black out roof windows are espescially used for renovating projects where daylight is needed. Our roof windows are tailor made, so they will fit exactly between the existing purlins. Black out ridge Blackout ridges can be best used for new projects. The ridge offers attractive, well spread and natural daylight. Because of the special construcion the ridge is almost maintenance free. Product leaflets are available on our website or upon request.

Advantages from Flash for broilers: Because the air steering is independant of the position of the valve, the air enters on a different level which provides more oxygen on animal level.
