Skin Care Secrets Revealed: Natural Acne Prone Skin Relief the Aromantic way Acne occurs primarily in puberty but can also occur up to middle age. Acne prone skin is caused by the increased production of sebum and the resulting blocking of pores by sebum and dead skin cells. The result is that spots or boils can occur not only on the face but also on the chest, back or upper arms. This article explains how you can support your acne prone skin through natural treatments and a balancing of your lifestyle and diet. Factors affecting acne prone skin and ways to care for it. Don't squeeze spots. Don't use massage on acne prone skin. Avoid oily/fatty creams for acne prone skin, especially those with saturated fatty acids like shea butter, cocoa butter and macadamia nut oil. Watch your diet - fasts and vegetarian diets are cleansing and may be worth considering for your skin. Avoid chocolate, cheese, nuts, pork, cream, spices, citrus fruits, coffee, tea, juices, soft drinks, chips/crisps, tomatoes, seafood and dairy products. Take vitamin and mineral supplements to aid acne prone skin support. Get plenty of rest, relaxation, fresh air and exercise. Morning & evening: Acne prone skin support using mainly Tea Tree oil products. Wash the face with Tea Tree liquid soap or just water (cold or hot). Cleanse the skin by washing it with 5-7 drops of Tea Tree essential oil added to 200ml water or use the acne prone skin toner. Acne prone skin toner (makes 100ml, shelf life years) 80% Rose water 10% Lavender water 5% Aloe vera concentrate 2% D-Panthenol 1.5% Anti-Acne active formula

1% Preservative 12 or 1% Preservative Eco 0.5% German chamomile essential oil Method: Simply measure the products and mix together. Bottle. NB: Shake bottle before use. Brush spots gently with undiluted Tea Tree essential oil on a cotton bud. Apply a Tea Tree cream or an acne prone everyday oil blend (see recipes below). Everyday acne oils (these can be applied up to 3 times a day) Acne prone skin oil blend 1 (makes 100ml, shelf life years) 37% Rosehip oil 25% Evening primrose oil 25% Borage oil 10% Vitamin E oil (undiluted) 1.5% Anti-Acne active formula 0.9% Rosemary CO2 extract 0.6% Vitamin A palmitate Acne prone skin oil blend 2 (makes 100ml, shelf life years) 34% Rosehip oil 30%Jojoba oil 23% Borage oil 10% Vitamin E oil (undiluted) 1.5% Anti-Acne active formula 0.9% Rosemary CO2 extract 0.6% Vitamin A palmitate Acne prone skin oil blend 3 (dries out the pimples) (makes 100ml, shelf life years) 90% Borage oil 9% Vitamin E oil (undiluted) 0.6% Vitamin A palmitate 0.4% Rosemary CO2 extract Method for all 3 recipes: Simply measure the vegetable oils, vitamin oils and active ingredients in a beaker and stir in together. Stir in up to 15 drops of essential oils.* Pour into bottles. *A good choice of essential oils to add to acne prone skin oil blends: Lavender, Tea Tree, Fragonia, Sandalwood, German (Blue) Chamomile, Cape Chamomile, Cedarwood, Palmarosa, Cypress, Geranium, and Lemon.

NB: Always add a few drops of Lavender essential oil when using Tea Tree essential oil or Tea Tree products as they have a synergistic effect. Cream for Acne Prone Skin - Makes 100 ml/g Stage 1: (above 75 C) 8% Hazelnut oil 7% Squalane 6% Camellia seed oil 3% VE emulsifier 2% Cetearyl alcohol Stage 2: (above 75 C) 55% Boiling spring water 4.5% MF emulsifier 3% Papaya glycerol extract Stage 3: (below 40 C) 5% Rosehip seed oil 2.5% Vitamin E (simulated natural) 1.5% Anti acne active formula 1% Preservative 1% Bog myrtle essential oil 0.5% Vitamin A palmitate 100% Total Several times per day: Drink lots of warm water and diuretic herb teas. Wash your hands regularly and touch your face or acne-prone areas of your body as little as possible. This is to keep bacteria away from the skin. 1-3 times per week: Add 5-10 drops of Tea Tree essential oil to your base foam bath. Add 5-6 drops of Tea Tree essential oil to a facial steam bath. Make and apply a face mask containing Tea Tree essential oil. Acne prone skin and diet If your body chemistry is too acid you must eat more alkaline foods to assist acne prone skin. Balancing your diet - Acid/Alkaline When food is metabolised by the body the end products are either acidic or alkaline. Acids are compounds of elements, which give away hydrogen ions, alkalines are compounds of elements which attract hydrogen ions. The body needs both acids and alkalines for its metabolism but we have more difficulty getting rid of acids than alkalines. It is therefore easy for an accumulation of

excess acids to occur which can cause us to get rheumatism or skin problems. To avoid this, aim for a diet which is 70% alkaline and 30% acid. One of the simplest ways to immediately create more alkalinity in your body is to drink so-called superfood powdered drinks. Choose a brand that contains ingredients with high alkaline values such as spinach, broccoli, carrot, wheatgrass, barley grass, chlorella, alfalfa and sprouted grain powders. To achieve a more alkaline diet you can consider replacing the following items in your diet: Acid Bread - all grains except buckwheat Grain-based pasta except buckwheat Alkaline Sprouted grain bread or buckwheat bread Buckwheat-based pasta Chocolate and cocoa drinks Carob-based drinks Tea, Coffee, Barley Cup Rice or Oats porridge Meat and fish protein Tempeh, Silken tofu Peanuts Eggs Gelatine Herbal teas Millet or Buckwheat porridge Soya products e.g. Soya beans, Firm tofu, Textured vegetable protein (TVP) Firm tofu Hazelnuts, Almonds Egg replacer (Soya-based) Agar-Agar flakes The following table of Alkaline / Acidity was developed by the Swedish nutritionist Ragnar Berg in the 1930's. ALKALINE (+) ACID (-) Cucumber +31 Rice with husks -51 Dried figs +28 Bran -39 Raisins +16 Whole wheat -38 Dried rose hips +15 Oat flakes -30 Tomatoes +14 Eggs -23 Lettuce +14 Rye bread -22 Mushrooms +13 Meat of all kinds -10 to -24 Mandarin oranges +12 Fish of all kinds -10 to -19

Early morning Drink litre tepid water Acne prone skin support - One day fast Drink 200ml berry juice (Blueberry or cranberry - not blackcurrants) Drink 200ml herb tea: Infuse 2g dandelion leaf, 2g chamomile, for 20 minutes. Strain together Drink 200ml carrot juice (fresh is best) Drink 200ml carrot juice Drink 200ml vegetable stock and 200ml green juice (such as wheatgrass or nettle juice) Berry juice (blueberry or cranberry - not blackcurrants) "First I wanted to take time to thank you on giving me the insider knowledge on how to make creams. I have attended the beginners, intermediate and theory courses and I have found them really informative and knowledgable, an additonal bonus was the handy hints, anecdotes and tips on good skin care and knowledge on skin allergies that Kolbjorn has collated through his years of experience."
