2 Animal War Start the epic saga of your animal kingdom, safeguard your land and destroy the other creatures Introduction Animal War is a single player 2D shooting game for PC or Java enabled Mobile that immerses the player into the role of an animal kingdom leader to fight against the other three kingdoms for the victory. The game is designed to have four animal kingdoms; the player can select one of the leaders as an avatar and each of the creatures has its own unique power in fighting. The mission of the player is to completely destroy the other three kingdoms. Player can also choose his own combat sequence to the three kingdoms in experiencing different stories. Evolution of the avatar will take place during the battle as discovering the hidden event. This game is suitable for everyone (E) with Java enabled PC or mobile. Player can enjoy the battle at any place. Besides, each stage only spends about 5-10 minutes, which can be playable within the travel of two to three MTR stations. Game data can also be saved between battles and continue at any time. Furthermore, to give a concern to female player and children, the game uses animal as the characters and reduces the violence frame as much as possible. Under these designs, we believe, the game can be more popular then other 2D shooting games without losing any group of interest. Background Fiction In the ancient time, the Lord of destruction made four strongest creatures, worm, chicken, cat and snail. Each of the species formed a kingdom and wanted to rule the Earth, so battles were always happened across different kingdoms. As each species had their own special power in fighting, therefore, none of them completely won. As the leader of a kingdom, the task is to turn over the glued situation and leads the kingdom to the victory by completely destroy the other three kingdoms. 2/6

3 In the beginning of the story, the avatar is a juvenile leader of its kingdom. As come over each battle with completeness of special events, the avatar will evolve to acquire more abilities in fighting. As the avatar getting enough power, the story will finally goes to the stage which fights against the Lord of destruction. Goal The goal of the game is to completely destroy the other three kingdoms and the Lord of Destruction. The game will be over if the avatar life becomes zero. Gameplay Elements The avatar evolution system is one of the major and novel features in this type of game. During each battle, special event will prompt up as destroying some specific buildings. After the completion of the special event, destroying the mini-boss and get the special item in the stage, an evolution of the avatar will take place immediately with enhancing the fighting power such as basic attack, speed, special effects on attack and also the appearance. The other noticeable feature is that each kind of species owns a special unique power. The effect of the power will emerge in both the normal and special attacks. The power will become more significant as the evolution of avatar take place. Among the creatures, chicken owns the power of fire; snail owns the power water; cat owns the power of wind and worm owns the power of lightning. The storyline of the game is a non-linear fold-back structure, which increases the replay value of the game. The game is based on a map as the game interface which allows player to choose the combat sequence to the three kingdoms in experiencing different stories and also for the transition between stages. Besides, player can always go back to the defeated kingdom to explore the hidden secret. There is also a score system in the game. While the aviator travelling in its journey, it can gain some score as destroying the enemy or getting items. At the end of each stage, the scoring engine will calculate and display the system total score of that particular battle. At the end of the game or game over, the top 5 score player will be recorded by the game system. The difficulty of the game level will increase as the growth of the avatar level. A great variety of the enemy shooting style, moving speed and navigation types will appear as a later stage of the game. Player will experience a great deal of different combination enemies in the final stage and an incredible final boss, the Lord of Destruction. 3/6

4 The game will be implemented with J2SE and J2ME, player can play it on a Java enabled PC or Mobile phone respectively. For the J2ME version, it is more mobile, since player can play the game at any place. However, due to the limitation of mobile phone, the J2ME version can only be single player mode while the J2SE version can be in dual player mode. Each of the battle will takes about 5-10 minutes in real-time, which allows the player to enjoy the game within the travel of two to three MTR stations. Furthermore, the game data can also be saved between battles, which facilitate the player to continue the playing at any time. In order to adopt a greater variety of audience, the game invents the cartoon animal as the character which, we believe, can lower down the violence index and attracts more female and young audience. Under these designs, we believe, the game can be more popular then other 2D shooting games without losing any group of interest. Game Controls When player enter the game, a map will be prompted which indicate the landscape of the four kingdoms. Player can select the other three kingdoms to start the battle. After defeated the three kingdoms, a final stage Lord of Destruction will appears in the middle of the land. User Interface (Map) choose kingdom Figure 1 it shows the initial user interface of the game. Battle no Defeated all? Ending yes Figure 3 it shows the flow chart of the game control of animal war. Figure2 it shows a provisional battle interface of the game. 4/6

5 The battle interface is based on a top view map which rolls from top to bottom with 2D animated character which supports up to colours. Player controls the avatar to move on a 2D manner. After completion of the stage, the game will goes back to the map interface. Art Specification The graphic system of the game will base on the 2D top view. The style of the character will be in cartoon animal. Figure 1, shows all the 2D concept art of the four creatures. Each of the species lives in particular landscape. Chicken kingdom rules the burning desert; Snail rules the icy coast; Cat rules the windy forest and the worm rules the lightning mountain. (Figure 5) Figure 4 Figure 5 In the system, some item will increase the strength of the avatar. Figure 4 shows various types of the items. Audio Specification There will be light suspense music as the background of the user map interface. While a unique style background music will be played in each kingdom battle according to the landscape such as desert, forest, coast and mountain. There also will be a lot of sound effects including hitting the enemy, explosion and bombing, item getting, special attack and avatar evolution during the battle. A warning alert and voiceover will be played when a special event comes afterwards the background music will be dissolve to the boss background music. Ports to Multiple Platforms There are two version of the game, J2SE and J2ME version. For J2SE version, it is designed for single PC, where the J2ME version is for Mobile Phone. Due to the limitation of mobile phone, the dual player function will only be available for the J2SE version. On the other hand, the advantage of J2ME is more portable; player can play the game at any place. 5/6

Therefore the graphic design of the game intended to use an aesthetic approach, the animal and less violence, which we believe can gain a more market share in this group.
