Membership Research Schools and other Research Institutes Research of the group is embedded in two research schools, the Kurt Lewin Institute, and IOPS. 5. Research topics In today s world of team-based work, diverse workforces, multifaceted career trajectories, and exceedingly high needs for innovation, it is vital to understand how people manage their careers, regulate professional learning and development, and work together to manage social conflict, to produce creative ideas, and to jointly achieve high quality decisions. The research group Individuals and Groups at Work (IGW) deals with these and related issues. IGW aims to develop and test theory around (1) individual development and behavior (e.g., personnel development, career decision making and transitions, and creativity and innovation), (2) group processes and performance (e.g., team innovation, conflict and negotiation, group judgment and decision making) and (3) the cross-level interaction between these two foci (e.g., person-environment fit, group composition and staffing decisions, and power and leadership). 83

It uses a multi-method approach that allows for triangulation and cross-validation, and enables evidence-based practice on employability, occupational health, selection and development, dispute resolution, and organizational innovation. 6.
