1 Keith R Granger Department of Entomology, Washington State University Tree Fruit Research and Extension Center 1100 N. Western Ave., Wenatchee, WA Cell Office x257 keith_granger@wsu.edu PROFILE I am hardworking, honest, and loyal. I have worked for Washington State University for the past 17 years. I have managed a number of projects developed to help tree-fruit growers transition to sound IPM programs. I am proud of the work that I have done with WSU and I am ready for new challenges. EXPERIENCE Research Associate, WSU Tree Fruit Research & Extension Center, Wenatchee, WA 2012-Present Served as project leader for the Washington State aspect of a Solid Set Canopy Delivery System (SSCDS) grant involving Washington State, Michigan State, and Cornell Universities. Designed an SSCDS infrastructure and applicator and installed replicated SSCDS plots in high-density apple. Applied all treatments in apple for horticulture, entomology, and plant pathology components of the project. Conducted field and lab bioassays to assess coverage of SSCDS in comparison to an airblast sprayer. Worked closely with an engineering group and project leaders from other universities to move towards optimization of SSCDS. Supervised summer interns working on the SSCDS project. Project Manager, WSU Tree Fruit Research & Extension Center, Wenatchee, WA Served as project leader for the Apple IPM Transition Project (AIPMTP), designed to enhance understanding of new IPM technologies through educational programs and communication of research-based knowledge. Increased adoption of new IPM technologies by sharing information through a grass-roots approach of face-to-face meetings (Implementation Units) in local growing regions. Established 14 Implementation Units, distributed geographically across principal fruit growing regions of Washington State (representing 43,000 Washington State apple acres), and met regularly during the season. Produced a 60-page handbook outlining IPM practices that are important to implementing OP-alternative pest control options for codling moth and leafroller in apple. Produced a series of newsletters that addressed seasonal IPM topics. Developed fact sheets on control strategies for codling moth and leafroller in apple, using the WSU Decision Aid System, secondary pests in apple, monitoring codling moth and leafroller, and sprayer technology. Coordinated field days and a WSU fruit school, which addressed topics important to implementing IPM. Research Associate, WSU Tree Fruit Research & Extension Center, Wenatchee, WA Managed research programs for two tree-fruit entomologists focused on the development of reduced-risk and op-alternative chemistries and IPM programs for control of insect pests in apple and pear. Applied pesticide applications, collected data, conducted statistical data analyses, and wrote reports for all experiments. Delivered research based information pertaining to efficacy of new chemistries, secondary effects, timing of applications, and resistance management strategies to growers, managers and consultants. Farm Operations, WSU Tree Fruit Research & Extension Center, Wenatchee, WA Managed daily operations of a WSU research orchard.
