T3 Paying your rent 1

If you need to contact us for any reason, whether it s to report a repair, ask for advice or get in touch with a particular person, you should phone Customer Services on During Customer Services' hours (Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm) one of our advisers will answer your call. We have an out-of-hours service for dealing with emergencies. Phone and our agent will take your call. Advice leaflets All advice leaflets mentioned in this pack are available at our website on or by phoning Customer Services. Paying your rent Your total weekly rent is added to your account every Monday and your rent account should never go into arrears. You can arrange to pay your rent on a date that suits you and we offer you a variety of ways for you to pay If the payment date falls on a bank holiday, you should pay on the previous working day. If you are having problems making payments, you should contact Customer Services or arrange to talk to your rent recovery officer by phoning You should do this as soon as you know that you are going to have a problem. If you do not pay your rent it could lead to you losing your home. 2

How can I pay my rent? By Direct Debit Direct Debit is the easiest way to pay your rent. We recommend you pay your rent this way if you have a regular income and a bank account. To set up a Direct Debit you just need to complete a simple form which you can get by calling Customer Services on Once the form is completed, your rent will automatically be paid, meaning you don't need to do anything. Send your Direct Debit mandate to: Paradigm Housing Group 1 Glory Park Avenue Wooburn Green Buckinghamshire, HP10 0DF Direct Debits are payable in advance and you are protected by the Direct Debit Guarantee Scheme. This means the following: if the amounts change, we will make the amends for you and tell you at least five working days before your account is debited if we or your bank or building society make a mistake, you are guaranteed a full and immediate refund. Please don't cancel your Direct Debit if you think you are going to miss a payment. Instead speak to us and we can put other arrangements in place. By phone or in person You can pay using a debit card or credit card (credit card charges may apply) over the phone by calling or in person at the following office: 1 White Hill Chesham Buckinghamshire HP5 1AB Normal office hours are Monday to Friday from 9am to 5.30pm. This office has wheelchair access. 3

At a Payzone point If you have a rent payment card you can use this at most Payzone points. These can be found at many newsagents, supermarkets, petrol stations and the Post Office. You can pay using cash, debit cards or credit cards. By post (Do not send cash by post) Please make cheques payable to Paradigm Housing Group and address to: Paradigm Housing Group 1 Glory Park Avenue Wooburn Green Buckinghamshire HP10 0DF You will also need to include your address and tenancy reference number on the back of the cheque to make sure that payments get to your account. If you are not sure what your tenancy reference number is Customer Services will be able to help you with this. By internet payment You can make rent payments at any time of the day or night. www To pay online go to our website at and choose Paying your rent online. To do this you will need your 19 digit reference number found on your rent payment card. You can also pay your rent through myparadigm - see below for details. How do I get a statement of my rent account? To get an up-to-date statement of your account, please phone Customer Services. We will automatically send you a statement once a year. You can also view your rent account online. Our secure online service called myparadigm, allows you to view your rent account details alongside a range of other online services. Go to our website at paradigmhousing.co.uk/myparadigm. To register to use myparadigm you will need your house ID (six digits), address and tenancy start date. This can be found on your tenancy agreement. 4

Are you having problems paying your rent? If something happens which affects whether or not you can pay your rent, please phone Customer Services immediately. You can also contact Citizens Advice, StepChange Debt Charity , the National Debtline or a local money advice centre. Will I be eligible for housing benefit? If you think you are eligible for housing benefit, please contact your local council for more advice and help. Local councils have a legal responsibility to help homeless households. However, if a household is homeless as a result of being evicted because they have broken the conditions of their tenancy agreement, such as not paying the rent or acting in an anti-social way, it is likely that the council will see them as intentionally homeless. This means that the council will often not rehouse these people and the tenants will be responsible for finding their own accommodation. It is your responsibility to manage your housing benefit claim and to ensure that your total rent charge is paid in full and when due. 5
